So the first thing Apples does in the post-TV-era is to create a show about an outdated TV-genre, which rather caters to the generation X than to millenials, who didn't even grow up with a TV?

Of course, because generation X have had their time!

That looks truly awful. If this is your sort of thing, then cool i guess. Let's hope Apple has something else worth seeing.
I’ll be interested to see what Apple’s business model is here. Will they offer a few shows for free too get people interested? Or will they come in at a super low price like Disney?

This looks like quality and something I'd watch.

To some people commenting above: if it's not for you, it doesn't mean it's bad. It's just not for you. And that's fine.
Agreed. Now I have a reason to consider subscribing. If some of the other shows look half as well made and interesting then I might just ‘take the plunge’.

Exactly. The premise is DoA before it even streams. Seems like a vanity project thrown out to an aging cast that doesn't realize they're not 23 any more.

According to Pew Research the millennial cohort is those born from 1981 to 1996. They absolutely grew up with television. Also what’s wrong with catering to Gen X?

I think it'll be 4.99 or so. Low enough to get people using the atv app. That's the key thing. Apple wants you in that app buying channels. Heck, I think the more make or break thing is getting disney+ in for a channel.

I don't live it in the USA but are people really interested in that kind of series (from Apple)?

I'd hope they would make a killer show like GOT or Stranger Things, something that people can easily understand and watch. I thought that was the point of Apple's streaming service - to compete with Netflix, Hulu, HBO etc.

Yes, because people have different tastes.

Whilst I welcome a change from what seems never ending trickle of super hero shows and spin offs, not sure this type of melodrama "a TV show about a TV show" will gather much following nor success.

It could be that ATV+ is short-lived if they only opt for this type of thing.

Well, the ‘show about pitching a show about nothing’ did great.

Is this a tv show or a movie? The cinematography and color grading makes me think movie, but I thought it was a series.

Also, anybody else have the scene in The Office when Michael sang "Goodbye Toby" in their head from this trailer? That always cracks me up.

WT F does this has to do with Apple?
Such a distraction. I wish they'd put their thousands of employees on something useful. Such as not GUTTING their Mac lines (macbook gone, airport gone, screen replaced five years later by a ridiculous overpriced thing with jewellery stand), iPhones haven't seen an iota of innovation in years and went from a 2 to a 3-year design cycle, etc etc. I am too tired to go on.
Gotta lean back and watch Apple wanting to be Disney. Like we needed another one.

Oh that’s disappointing. Thought there might be some promise in this show as I like aniston. But I’m just not interested in the lives of vacuous tabloid fodder morning show tv presenter personalities whether in real life or dramatised.

who the heck is in charge of commissioning at Apple ? They are going to be at risk of damaging their brand. Come on Apple get it together.

yeah... you guys would say this no matter what the trailer would’ve looked like. Because there always is an opportunity to be negative and **** on Apple

This looks very good. HBO tier drama.

Also, note "Apple TV+ subscription required" at the end. That confirms that Apple TV+ won't be a free addon for Apple TV users. I'd like to see how Apple justifies the subscription price...

Yes, because people have different tastes.

And people also have different "channels" to purchase. Since that is Apple's goal, perhaps they should focus on a genre. Keep it simple. Sci-fi seems to fit best and oh look, it's usually among the top watched. Think different?

I hope not otherwise comedy as i know it is dead

First and foremost - get the Talent

again a lot of arrogant people who think the world revolves around them tend post dumb comments on threads like this. Just because YOU don’t think they are talented doesn’t make you right. These are highly successful people who have huge fanbases. So THEY will watch this. Not everything has to be made for YOU.

Its Rachel and her sister Jill. And Michael Scott. Im definitely watching this.

Think different and yet you just said Apple should do what everyone else is doing.

they will have to charge alacarte. They don’t have the content library to do a subscription service.

This does look well made, you can see it in every shot but I agree I don't see how this show could be appealing to a wide audience... I think Aniston looks amazing here and is very believable but I don't get the love for Whitherspoon and Carrell in anything other than comedy.
