Shameless plug. A terrific, funny, poignant movie about morning news starring Harrison Ford and Rachel McAdams: Morning Glory.

Streaming available on Prime. Enjoy.

WT F does this has to do with Apple?
Such a distraction. I wish they'd put their thousands of employees on something useful. Such as not GUTTING their Mac lines (macbook gone, airport gone, screen replaced five years later by a ridiculous overpriced thing with jewellery stand), iPhones haven't seen an iota of innovation in years and went from a 2 to a 3-year design cycle, etc etc. I am too tired to go on.
Gotta lean back and watch Apple wanting to be Disney. Like we needed another one.
Where have you been for the last 5 years? And why
A logical person would agree with you. But this is Apple. They will throw out words like "premium service" and "only Apple can ____" to justify the high margin. Their objective is to drive the services revenue as a major component of overall income, and even with only ~10 shows at the premier, they can tout that each show is of the quality of any HBO production.

In fact, that's likely where they're aiming: only the highest quality production and acting talent. Netflix and Amazon have a lot of great shows, but the overwhelming majority of the content come from B movies and low grade shows that you'd almost think were sourced from Youtube.
Apple Music launched with ~ 50 million songs so its full subscription price was justified. Apple cannot ask anyone to pay full price for a subscription service that is rolling out with new shows being added over the next few years. Even the Apple fanatics wouldn't shell out a full price for one or two shows. I suspect Apple will either launch free or they'll lock in a low rate for subscribers willing to commit to a full year.

I can’t stand the morning shows because they seem so fake and cloying. You know behind the plastered on smiles and plastered into place hair that there’s stories like this going on. And those stories are what look interesting. So if there’s enough other promising looking fare on this new subscription service I might give it a try.

The last tv series I followed was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which I thought had a good solid run. I was going to watch some other shows, but kept hearing complaints from friends that promising shows either ended up canceled too soon or would run so long the writing would tank and destroy all the good that came before. So tv seemed pointless to me for many years.

Jut FYI, Reese Witherspoon posted this trailer on Instagram and she already has nearly 2,000 comments, most of them positive. I have a feeling this show will get traction. Probably not as big as Big Little Lies but there will be interest just because of cast. They’re all great actors.

I'm not going to join another streaming service when I'm happy with the ones I have (Netflix, Hulu, and Prime). Is Apple expecting us to pay for a new service that only offers these few new shows? I don't find any of them interesting. I like my usual shows that I can watch on Netflix and Hulu.

Apple TV+ will be as successful as the HomePod.

You do realize people commenting on her post only see her post because they follow her, right? Of course her fans will say positive things. Celebrity worship, and all.

The show might end up being really good (subjective), or it could be a pandering bore. Nobody knows for sure.

The trailer has me way turned off, which is a shame. Like others, I thought it would be a fun comedy with a good budget. But that’s not what they made.

No that’s not true, anyone can watch the post and those who have instagram account can comment

And people are very excited about this show there, even when we read from here that no-one cares this :)

Apple Music: $9.99
Apple News+: $9.99
Apple TV+: $19.99

Bundle price: $34.99

That's my bet. TV shows are inherently pricier to make, and if Apple is getting away (sort of) with $1k+ phones and $300 "smart" speakers, I bet they stretch the limits of reality with a $19.99 video subscription service. It'll be touted as all 4K HDR, made with organic, grass-fed celebrities, and integrates with the TV app, etc...
I think those who say it’ll be free (with Apple Music) are going to be a lot closer than your estimate.

Apple prices Music at the same price as Spotify but Apple TV+ will be three times as much as Disney+ is? That makes zero sense. Actually, less than zero sense. Negative sense.

Well the trailer turned you off so you’re already biased against it. Sure people comment on Resse Witherspoon’s Instagram are going to be fans but not every post she puts up gets 2K+ comments.

Eh, if Netflix had asked if anyone wanted a show about a senator, or a women's prison, they wouldn't have gotten overwhelmingly positive feedback, but those went on to be pretty compelling TV. It all depends on the writing and acting, and that's hard to judge until after the first few episodes.
Agreed and I will give it a chance however from the trailer it just does not look compelling at all scriptwise

Lol yeah, I could really see how getting phenomenal, popular actors together for a high budget show could really damage a streaming service.
Um right I’ll beg to differ - small acorns grow into big trees.

yeah... you guys would say this no matter what the trailer would’ve looked like. Because there always is an opportunity to be negative and **** on Apple
‘You Guys’ ? I’m part of some exclusive club that I didn’t know about ? Lol. I own every computer product that Apple has ever made amd then some, so why would I be negative. Sheez silly

This looks to be a AAA production with talent, screenplay and directing from some of the best in the business. I think it’ll be a hit.

That said, fans of Friends and The Office have been eager for their stars’ return to television. A comedy series with both of them could have been a gigantic hit bringing in the fan base from those shows.

I was just counting on the usual suspect for a monthly service cost from Apple, $9.99. Anything more and this whole thing will be dead before it even starts..
I just don't think they're going to get away with that while only offering a handful of shows. Disney+ and Netflix are much better deals. Maybe in a few years they could if they have some established hits and new seasons to keep people subscribed. I think people are starting to get subscription fatigue. If it were bundled in with Apple Music, which I already have, and Apple Arcade, which I am kind of interested in, for a decent price then I might consider it. That space show they're doing looks kind of interesting to me. But I just don't think I'm going to have time for all of this, lol.

Because that seems to be the norm here, sadly. Just look at any post, there are always those who have to criticize anything Apple does even when it has nothing to with the topic.

Well I think there was just a story put out by MR today that said the price of Arcade is going to be $4.99/mo. Now that I can see as being totally worth it for someone who plays lots of iOS/Mac/TV games, and there are more out there than you think.

Yeah if I subscribed to Arcade, News, TV, Music, plus my non-Apple subscriptions like Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and the like, then I would have to spend nearly every waking moment on an Apple device and that's just not feasible haha. But to be fair, I think even Apple realizes this and that might be why they don't want to bundle them all together just yet. For example, some people might be huge news and magazine junkies but not really gamers or TV watchers, so ten bucks a month makes sense for them. Or people who just absolutely love games but hardly ever read magazines. Though I imagine they'll offer them as a bundle in the not too distant future. Probably just trying to see what's popular and what's not so they can bundle them appropriately.

You have heard of Waterworld and Heaven's Gate among many other big budget flops that had the best of the best involved?

Wow. You have some insider info that none of us here know about. I mean, to formulate an opinion like the one you stated, you have to know the price of the service and what’s included.

You ever hear of Kevin Reynolds, before or after Waterworld?

... I rest my case.

Sometimes I think I’m here only for the comment section. All the closet CEO’s, CFO’s and media critics who know everything more than the people doing the actual work. If it fails, they’ll be right there to gloat. If it succeeds, they’ll create a new username and praise it or move on to something else. Same with iPod, iPhone, Watch, Music/Beats acquisition, etc.

The show doesn’t appeal to me but I can see a LOT of people being interested in it. And most first seasons tend to be a bit rough anyway. It’ll likely have a good run and a good following.
