You know what's funny? The rest of the competition is trying to take on Apple, but this is a huge advantage for other Android manufacturers. Google is very happy at the moment.

You want Android to die so your favorite brand has no competition and then they really won't have a need nor desire to innovate and charge even higher prices. Did some goose wack you over the head?

Yes, I am first and foremost a shareholder. In fact I don't even own a phone so none of that actually matters to me. It was a great investment until android came in and stole what I had invested in and then it continued to be a decent investment but nothing like it deserved to be had everyone on that side of the fence not shamelessly copied everything the other side did. In my opinion both Google and Samsung (and most of the other android device makers) deserve none of it.

"Hey, you're not from around here, are you Pilgrim?"... -John Wayne

Heh heh. Seriously... you don't seem too happy... what are you doing here?... in an Apple forum... watching us all partying over the just recall of your master's 19 billion dollar meltdown?

Shouldn't you be in line somewhere commiserating with friends at some Note7 Recall Depot ? ...turning in that over-heating IED Samsung sold you before it explodes?

Sure, I'd love to see you happier & able to smile again Pilgrim... so come back after exchanging your Note7 for an iPhone... you'll feel better... It would be wonderful to see you smiling & happy, my friend.

There's one problem with that. I currently own a 64 gb Phone SE after having traded in the 6 Plus which would have been two years old. I have no hatred for Samsung nor Google, or even Microsoft but it is the smugness I find disgusting, hypocritical and juvenile from arrogant Apple fanboys.

Do I like my phone? Sure. But I don't put it on a pedestal like you guys do. And I'm smart enough to know Apple is NOT the end all, be all solution and see through their baloney.

Going by your recent posts you sure seem to have a profound hatred of Apple, bordering on the psychotic.

That's when I realized the company was going off the wrong direction for the last few years making me question their thinking and ability to tighten up their game plan.

When Tim became CEO, I saw the writing on the wall. I had a bad feeling about him at the time and look what has transpired in the last five years.

I saw Apple become the most valuable company in the world.

You sure you are not living in some alternate universe where Steve Jobs never returned to Apple?

Samsung has quite a problem on their hands. Who knows where this will go until more time passes.

However it's very disappointing to witness the extreme hatred demonstrated by so many members here in the forum. Quick to be self righteous, quick to assume, people living outside Apples walled garden read these posts and shake their heads.

It's no wonder there's a growing contingent of smartphone buyers that are anti-Apple.

I agree mostly but I think your conclusion is off.

Fandroids are by definition anti-Apple, notice I didn't say Android users. I know people that use iOS and Android and balance the pros & cons of both platforms without this religious fervour.

The "growing contingent" however are Apple users that have become disillusioned with Apple's direction and amount of self-adulation ("courage" you know). Nevertheless, just because some of us liked Apple products from 1984-2012, doesn't mean we're anti-Apple. We're voicing our discontent with *some* of the newer products.
Similar to Apple's "product-itis" of the mid-90s, feature-itis is now bloating iOS & mac OS in similar ways to MS Windows in the past. Microsoft has learned from those mistakes.

Now that Apple has turned 40, there's an obvious generational gap, both between users but also between Apple internal stakeholders. I would guess that most of the virulent Apple fanboys are iDevice owners for 8 years or less and are personally offended by any criticism of Apple.
That's the crux of internet comment sections everywhere. No age restrictions!

If one follows this hyperbole there also must be a growing contingent of anti-Samsung smartphone buyers. But I think too much is read into these posts, how can one be anti a legal entity other than Enron or Bernie madoff.

Fwiw, there's a growing number who like Apple products. My family to wit: 4 iPhones, 2 iPads, aw, 2 MacBook pros and one Apple TV.

There is very little indication that Note 7 owners are swapping for iPhones of any type.
So .....
But Apple did order 8 million more..so....

I saw Apple become the most valuable company in the world.

You sure you are not living in some alternate universe where Steve Jobs never returned to Apple?

That has nothing to do with the quality of their products.

SECONDED!

Although this smug attitude on MR has been like this for years. It's pathetic.... how can anyone be such a devoted fan of a BRAND???

Those who are happy with Samsung's failures:

1-Samsung phones are great devices, one of the best in the world, its Android(the software) that sucks, and Samsung does not build that.

2-Less competition, means less advancement and more stale products. If you didn't like iphone 7 this year, wait to see whats going to happen when Samsung is out of the race. Go have a look at the MacRumors buyer's guide and look at the update cycle for their computers.

Don't create another monster like Microsoft in mid-90s

How are Samsung "out of the race" by the loss of one niche model? Are the S7/Edge not good enough?

As for "don't create another monster like Microsoft", isn't it only Samsung that can influence that st this point, by not continuing to fail? What do you expect Macrumors forum readers to do? Subside them out of pity?

How can I not be a fan, when my Apple products have worked better for me than any other brand out there?

And why else would people willingly shell out a premium for Apple devices, if not for superior hardware and software quality?

If anything, I would argue that Apple's profits are the direct result of them making the best products and getting them into the hands of as many consumers as possible.

Contrast this with Android, which just focuses on maximising the number of people who use them.

Then you should be thankful you made the right choice Pilgrim. Smile, turn that frown upside down & wish Tim well.

Don't hope others die because you're unhappy, that's for sad people... you don't want to be a sad, bitter guy wishing bad on others.

Be happy that Tim's alive, producing the phone you own & that others here are happy with their iPhones. Start there.
