They should have advertised the gif feature instead. I'd assume that that's more widely used than stickers.
That's exactly why they're advertising them: no one uses them, and Apple apparently thinks this is because we don't know they exist.

Funny thing about stickers and the new iMessages layout is that both were designed to attract younger users who mostly use Snapchat now to communicate. I asked my own kids about this recently because I was curious (personally I dislike the new layout but admittedly I'm not the target demo) and they kinda scoffed in indifference at it. My youngest likes the gifs and the drawing bit, but my oldest hit the nail on the head when she opined "why do I need it to be like Snapchat when I already have Snapchat?" All three confirmed what I already suspected: they use Snapchat to converse with friends much more than iMessage these days.

Lol Apple, keeps putting cash on retarded ads like this, which perfectly illustrates their actual consumer target. Gotta give it to them at this point, not only they release overpriced insulting junk computers now but they also make their users look as extremely valued, wise & creative individuals!

I don't want to criticize the stickers or the people using them. I just don't get what is Apple's goal with the new features of Messages and these ads.

Right now iPhone prices in Europe range from 500-1100€. These stickers are clearly (right?) targeted to younger customers. But if and when the phones are bought by their parents, no amount of sticker-ads is going to justify buying an outdated phone for that amount of money. I just don't think that the premium price point of current iPhones matches the features that are being developed and promoted.

The other problem is that the Messages app is not cross-platform. I currently have zero ongoing group conversations in Messages, I use WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger for those. Why spend so much time and money to develop a product that is ultimately not going to win any customers from other brands?

iPhone started as a device made for everybody, teens and business users alike. Right now it seems that the only ones Apple is interested is 10-15-year-old kids and I just don't see that many parents buying a 1000€ toy.

Stickers are now up there along with emojis and watchbands as Apples top priorities.
I really wish they'd put even a little bit of effort into making modern desktop computers. :(
What are you talking about? When they did the Mac vs. PC ads, there were about 75 versions of the same feature set. After the 4th commercial we got the message. At least these ads spotlight a single feature and move on. This is one commercial in dozens for iPhone. It's not a top priority for Apple. Do you really want a desktop ad right now? They won't have anything new until next week.

Sounds to me like you're the consumer you also complain about. You come to Apple expecting competitive pricing? Apple delivers the best experience and customers happily pay for it. If you're not happy, try a PC or Samsung or whatever.

Appears a lot of people aren't. Otherwise why make people aware of with this add.

Aside from: hahaha... this add is sooo funny.... NOT

It appears you are not aware how marketing works, especially when there are competitive choices.

I don't care at all that Apple made this ad (as far as whatever else they are doing or what their reasons are) what I do care about is that now a bunch of kids are going to be running around slapping these stupid things all over people! Just the new-age note on the back trick!

Yes I do actually realize that the ad is referring to stickers in messages, but if you use your brain I mean that kids are going to print these things up and actually make them sticky and run around town sticking them on people!

Stickers are the thing I use most of all the new Messages features. Variety exists for a reason.
Wasn't saying anything negative about stickers, just making an observation that They've strangely been absent in my conversations.

MacRumors comment section is a place to drown your sorrows, apparently.
Sadly it is. However, it's 100% Apple's fault. If they listened to their customers, they wouldn't be in this situation. You know that link where one can submit a request for a feature? I'm pretty sure anything submitted there goes straight into the virtual garbage bin.

I guess there's zero irony left anymore. You're on a public forum writing to strangers, right?

You know, people used to express feelings and emotions face to face, or even on the telephone...

Now its freakin emoji's and stickers... sad times for the facebork generation.

I forgot about stickers. Downloaded a free one to give it another shot "grama police". Excellent!

Well i didn't see any whatsapp, line, Snapchat, FB Messenger, Wechat etc adds. So seems like the competition can bring its products to the consumer without adds. So I uphold my opinion...

Also it's not like Apple didn't have any failures even so using focus groups etc. anyone remembers their 'social network' called "Ping"? Is it still out there ?

No, you are not alone. Read the comment section on any article, no matter the subject.

But you know that, you just want to fan a fire.
Beat it everyone, the Internet police is here!

Sorry, I don't think things are going to change around here, until Apple changes things in the Mac lineup.

Again - MACrumors.
