Can confirm that taking notes in Notability with the Apple Pencil is great. Whenever I'm in a meeting I'll record it while writing notes. Then later if I forget what specifically was said, I can listen to the recording and it'll tell me what I was writing at the time. Makes my managers a lot more impressed that I never forget things ;)

That is illegal. At least here I am the copyright-owner of my voice.

OneNote records the audio but also keeps track of what you were writing when it was said so you can line them up, as well as search for words in the audio portion.

I think it's overall a better note-taking experience.

I didn't know you could record audio while taking a note in Apple Notes. In fact, I still can't find that function on the iPhone... iPad Pro only for some reason?
There is not an option to record audio in Apple's Note App or Pages. However, there are several third party apps that allow for audio recording with text notes. I got one a while ago called "AudoNote." Its limited to just text and audio recording. What is neat is that it will synch the text I typed to a particular section of the recording.

Also, the ridiculous "the iPad doesn't get PC Viruses" statement. The iPad also doesn't get Mac Viruses, or the bird flu, or STDs.

I don't know if that's all that ridiculous. iOS doesn't get viruses at all. The very few malware that does exist has been incredibly limited. Most of them only affect jailbroken devices. In the rare instance that a vulnerability appears for non-jailbroken devices, Apple usually issues a patch update pretty quickly.

When I was in college the first time, there were no laptops. I would write up the lecture notes and at then transcribe them into my computer. My handwriting was horrific so the transcription ensured that I would be able to study from my notes at a later time. It had the added benefit of letting me inserting into the transcription addition information that was still fresh in my memory but had not been written down. It was also an additional tool for memory retention. it was also a way to make some extra cash when my fellow students wanted to buy them either because they missed class or they felt their own notes were not good enough.
When I returned to school recently I used the iPad with a bluetooth keyboard to take notes in class. I used Pages. Its simple fast. I can type much quicker than I can write. I noticed that I would be done typing what the prof had said while the other students were still scratching away. I could quickly format things if I wanted to, and I could quickly take a photo of an image the professor had drawn or projected onto a board. I would sometimes add a box to the side of the main content to add additional relevant text (like a related case study). I really do wish that Pages had built in audio recording. OneNote has audio recording, but I have not seen a way to type and record at the same time.
Many studies have shown that people remember the information longer when they have written the notes as opposed to typing. It has to do with Kinesthetic learning.
My experience of note taking in business is not so much for learning as documenting minutes of a meeting or recording to do and action items and need to be referred back to at my desk.

Really? Because office isn't baked into MacOS and thats the industry leading office suite. Neither is any Pro app for editing video etc, which is what many buying a Macbook Pro would use it for.

Also, the keyboard and pencil aren't included so I guess they shouldn't bother trying to sell those either? Do you even know what marketing is?

They even put a damn disclaimer at the bottom of the ads for people like you and you couldn't even bother to read that before making your comments.

I suggest less coffee for you, and the disclaimer says "ACCESSORIES SOLD SEPARATELY", not "APPS SOLD SEPARATELY"

Apple's marketing (and every other companies) exists to sell you products and potential of the device. Not sell you common sense.

All that aside if you're too cheap to buy a $10 app then these devices aren't for you.

For realism, perhaps they could show people using an iPad to complain about Apple on MR.
Well they could just by spending half an hour any random day at my house.

But my iPad case is frayed and losing its fake leather all over, It's an iPad 4 simply because slapping 'Pro' on the next iteration of iPad doesn't justify a price hike, And I am middle aged and balding. So all things considered the ad would look terrible. I even have a funny accent.

I know there are going to be people that like these ads, but some are just horrible.

I have been seeing the MS word one a lot lately, that one is just stupid. Does this type of advertising work on people? Who is the demographic they are going for?

Also, the ridiculous "the iPad doesn't get PC Viruses" statement. The iPad also doesn't get Mac Viruses, or the bird flu, or STDs.

Again, who is the target audience for these ads?

Apple is being reactive. It's not a good look.

I love how Apple is wasting their time on improving iPad sales. They should know that iPads will have the same fate as Macs since people won't upgrade them every year. Not sure where Apple's head is at.

I'd happily use the 12" version as a replacement for 90% of paper in the classroom. Hate having to expand files to watch at 100% then I see less overall. Writing, typing, printing, videos all able to use on there. Plus it has apps.

Wow... these ads /smh

Makes Maxipad pro look like Etch-a-Sketch

So glad apl "shared" that with me, thanks apl

Replaces scanner??? the camera on my ipad pro 12.9 is craaaaaap. Absolutely cannot replace a scanner.
The iPad and iPhone cameras actually do a rather good job replacing a scanner; if the lighting of the room is good at the time of the picture. It helps if you have one of the many 'scanner' apps that are currently available (some of them are free).

Don't be one of those nut job professors. Your voice enters the public record when your words leave your mouth. Under that logic, any student taking notes based on what you said is breaking the law, too. ::rolls eyes::
