14 Plus would likely be more popular if battery life was much better than Pro Max.

More people are probably getting new iPhones with some kind of payment plan and a Pro Max is the obvious choice.

So the 12 and 13 mini and the plus not selling well so that means only the 6.1 is needed in the regular lineup. They have the SE model as well for something cheaper.

The demand is so high on the pro/pro max you still can't get one without watching an inventory checker all day mate.

In some countries no doubt, not in countries where they are £1100 and £1200 starting price. Apple clearly thought the standard iPhones were going to sell better and under delivered on the Pro’s. It doesn’t mean suddenly everybody wants a 14 Pro/Pro Max.

Hopefully the go with just Pro versions and an SE model.

Quit giving everyone too many choices to complain about. You want basic? Here, take an SE in one size. Want more features? Here’s two sizes in Pro.

And lose an additional 20% of their already declining market share. Hopefully whoever is in charge of forecasting does not have the same mindset as you.

You're almost better off buying an iPhone SE and an iPad mini to use as a "phablet" than to buy the 14 Plus. I would pay so much to have an iPad mini that supported phone functions past data...

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple's product segmentation strategy for standard models has failed this year, following worse iPhone 14 Plus pre-order results than the third-generation iPhone SE and the ‌iPhone 13‌ mini. Apple is believed to have shelved plans to increase production of both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in response.

music to my ears. bring back the mini, Cook.

If it’s already declining into nothingness, then what does it matter?

People complain there are too many models. Or that their midrange models are too expensive. They aren’t gonna drop the prices of midrange now. So if people aren’t gonna buy them, why keep making them?

Make an SE at the cheaper price for those that don’t care about bells and whistles, and just want to be in the Apple ecosystem. Then have the Pros for the feature packed enthusiasts.

👊😙👍

Apple should really skip next years iPhone launch. They can still focus on the iPhone SE and add colors, but allow some more time for more innovation. And if a recession is to hit, they’re not just taking a huge L.

I like this too… 👊😃👍

4 devices are sufficient to cover a big range of price points. Let old gen/refurbished devices fill the gaps.

The mid range iPhones make up over 20% of Apples sales currently. If they don’t provide for that market, are they just to assume all those people will just buy Pro iPhones instead? Plenty of people want an iPhone with current and new features without the sky high price tag or something as basic as an SE. I really don’t understand why some of you are so negative towards people who don’t want to a pay £1100 and £1200 for a phone with a very ‘screw them’ approach .

It would appear that the “Everyone wants a big phone!” crowd has vanished off of the Earth and ended up somewhere else—maybe Hell. 🤣

It’s time to revive the mini line for the 15. The argument has concluded that the mini > Plus.

But the mini didn't sell particularly well either despite being priced around 12% less than the regular iPhone and what would've been (if still offered) around 22% less than the Plus iPhone.

The iPhone SE is also a small phone yet its sales have apparently been disappointing this year too even with its low $429 starting price.

Just because the 14 Plus may not currently be meeting expectations doesn't necessarily mean the "big phone" crowd has vanished. The 14 Pro Max seems be doing well and large (even larger than Apple's Plus and Pro Max models) Android phones do pretty well too.

Negative towards those that want cheaper phones?!? Please take the time to go through my posts in the iPhone 14/14 Plus release thread and other threads where I defend the those wanting a cheaper model vs Pro.

You have no clue what you’re talking about.

You said “the already declining 20%”. So it won’t be 20% for too long, will it? If people aren’t buying them at a $100-$200 savings, and Apple is most likely not gonna backtrack on prices, why produce them?

Bring back the mini? You mean replace one phone (Plus) that isn't selling particularly well right now with another phone (mini) that didn't sell particularly well even with its notably low(er) "mini" price? That's doesn't seem like a great strategy.

There is too much choice. They are drowning in too many models of iPhones as well as iPads.

I don't necessarily disagree but Samsung seems to do ok with even more different phone models (Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22, Galaxy A23, Galaxy A53, etc.) than Apple.

I think giving customers choices is good, as long as they are the "right" choices.

I don't work for Apple Sales or Marketing, so I don't know why they have cut orders. It might be that they expected more sales, or it might be that they ramped it up early to prevent people from having to wait for orders in case they didn't correctly anticipate higher-than-expected sales.

People will complain if they have to wait too long, and they complain if Apple were ahead of the curve and had to cut production. 🤷‍♂️

I am not an expert on these things.
But they should be by now after all these years. But they still overproduce normals and way underproduce Pros. And it's way worse this year

At least it seems you can find regular Pro now if you don't want something super specific, especially Purple. But Maxes are still super rare and disappear if you sneeze

I stop spending for this company now. M1 Pro and M1 Max were the last great things they shipped. It’s good. Let’s save some money and hold on to our products for longer now.

They were desperate when shipping M1P/M1M because pro users were enraged with them and they needed to win them back.
Now they're back to being classic douchey Apple
