I would remind Verizon Wireless users that unless they allow early upgrades no one can order and get the new every two pricing until October 7.

Why not? My renewal date was 9/7. Everyone is not on the same renewal schedule as you, or am I missing something?

I guess I was more meaning in what part of Apple do you work, but I understand if you cannot say anything.

in an Apple Store

that's why i said i was surprised about this news, because i'm directly concerned and didn't see any change in my schedules

So for those who are not eligible for an upgrade right now, or opt to pay retail to retain their unlimited data (with Verizon), will they even be able to purchase this on whatever day it goes on sale (pre-order, etc), or will we have to wait?

Blast! I was hoping for tomorrow afternoon. I hate having to wake so early and stress over getting my order in. But I'll do it, darn it to heck!

It will be crazy if they release iPhone 5, iPad mini, and new iPod touch all in the same day but chances of that happening are slim. I think the iPad mini will come out some time before then end of October

I think the best way is credit card-pre-orders and pick up at store. No walk-ins period.
That will stop scalping.

Did this quote really say 'china-men' at first? I hope not.

Also, Dude, Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. "Asian-American", please.

Although, in this situation it may be "Asian". :)

First of all I'm slightly amazed/surprised at the people mentioning friday is payday so they will be able to order, etc etc.

Really? Do you not have a savings account? Do you live check-to-check and you're spending money on a phone?

And you wonder where all these debt problems come from...

Second, and this is no surprise, but the complete lack of patience displayed. People acting like they can't wait an hour, day, or week longer to get this thing, especially when they most likely already have an iphone. It's not christmas morning and you're not 5 anymore.

Personally I will be waiting until the first reviews come out, you know, within the week that they're made available. I'd rather buy knowing its kinks than go through some antennagate fiasco after purchasing.

You must be left-brained. Calm down there, partner.

I actually fall in the middle when in comes to brain lateralization. And my statement lacked any exclamation points or caps, signifying that I was/am quite calm, partner. Do you want an emonicon to help you? okay, here you go:

And your proof? He could be a baby iPhone!

And here comes Mr. Mom.

YOU KNOW WHAT? THIS IS THE USA. WE ARE CAPITALISTS. WE DO AS WE PLEASE....

STAY OUT OF OUR BACK YARD!:D

LOL! No proof. I just thought it was funny suggesting that God is worried about an iPhone. That's all. After all keeping the universe from collapsing or something has got to be more important. At least I would imagine. :D

That is what I assumed. I don't think they are calling all hands on deck for apple store sales people. I think they meant call center sales people.

First, what other people do with their money (and how they allocate it) is 100% none of your business. Who are you to criticize and make complete assumptions about complete strangers you know absolutely nothing about??

Second, people get excited about things from time-to-time, regardless of their age. Some folks are passionate about their gadgets and phones. So what?

normally when we know exactly when the product is available for sale (announced by Tim during the keynote), then we are supposed to be all present in the store for launch day

so far no news

we'll find out tomorrow

Do I pre-order or do I wait and see who will offer a decent trade-in? Amazon is buying them at around $250.

Since I wanted to replace my off contract iPhone 4 before the introduction when I thought the value would still be good, I put my iPhone 4 on E-Bay last Friday night and sold it for $350 5 minutes after listing. Now, I am stuck with my 6 year old Blackberry until I can pre-order my iPhone 5.

Sounds like someone doesn't know how to manage their money...:)

Wants and needs...

and i'm on the other side of the fence saying "wohoo, the check from the side project i did for the extra expendable income to buy the iphone will clear by then, so sooner i can send my 4S to gazelle to recoup the money"

Lol everytime i come to renew my contract its a major release first the 3G than 4 and now the 5 I have a gut feeling they will sell 2 million in one day despite what the critics are saying, ah well its time to rob someone of their spot in the line on the day :p.

love this and it's true, and me I'm inpatient as I got the set price from gazelle so i want to get the new phone as soon as i can so i can send my 4S off so i can recoup the money, not that i desperately need the money back but I like to keep ducks all in their row.

and being I traded my 4 in and got the 4S last year without spending a dime and this year i'm getting a hundred more... it would be fiscally irresponsible not to get a new iPhone.

I read a report yesterday that the iPhone 5 could conceivably bump up the GDP by 0.5%. Therefore I consider it my patriotic duty to do my part. And to help my own stock of course. :D

Less than 24 hours to go. Giggity.

Same day Pre-Order isn't by any means crazy. Example:iPhone 4

Whoever said preorders would start on the same day of the event is crazy. :p

That's exactly what Apple did with the iPhone 4, two years ago. I ordered mine that afternoon, around 6 PM, and received it on the eve of the actual launch day. I have no idea why Apple didn't allow same day pre-order for the 4S, but there's nothing unusual about Apple allowing the pre-order to occur after the Keynote. Whether it be immediately, or it be, after a few hours. Either way, it's very possible for Apple to open the option tomorrow.

This isn't me debating what you posted. This is me letting you know that Apple has allowed the iPhone to be pre-ordered, the day of the Keynote Introduction.
