My guess is that they'll do preorders starting Friday, as in the past, and that in the meantime they'll also be releasing iOS6 for downloading, possibly as early as tomorrow but I would't be surprised if it is Thursday. The latter will get all of us out of the way who need to get iOS6 up and running on our iPads and current iPhones before the launch of the new iPhone.
If it makes it any easier, I'll pre-order right now!
Friday might be an expensive morning![]()
The last hurrah before the fall.Apple likes crowds, headlines & control.
They're going to milk this for all its worth.
Hope the lines are not filled with scalpers and their dominions shipping back to thier home countries.
I think the best way is credit card-pre-orders and pick up at store. No walk-ins period.
That will stop scalping.
When the iPhone 4 was launched was having lunch at Boudin's in San Francisco and the line wrapped around the block. I preordered the iPad 3 online and will do the same for the iPhone 5, I think...
I'll watch with the TWIT app with Leo Laporte and expert crew.![]()

still don't understand why MacRumors calls the sixth-generation iPhone the 'iPhone 5'.
I used to really like Leo, especially in the TechTV days, and was really excited when he started TWiT. But, to watch his commentary tomorrow, with puppets and all is just too much.
Please baby Jesus I don't wanna have to wait until Friday!
Jesus isn't a baby anymore, and I think He has a lot better things to do than worry about an iPhone. LOL
First of all I'm slightly amazed/surprised at the people mentioning friday is payday so they will be able to order, etc etc.
Really? Do you not have a savings account? Do you live check-to-check and you're spending money on a phone?
And you wonder where all these debt problems come from...
Second, and this is no surprise, but the complete lack of patience displayed. People acting like they can't wait an hour, day, or week longer to get this thing, especially when they most likely already have an iphone. It's not christmas morning and you're not 5 anymore.
Personally I will be waiting until the first reviews come out, you know, within the week that they're made available. I'd rather buy knowing its kinks than go through some antennagate fiasco after purchasing.
Sometimes it comes out that one or some of his puppets actually have the product and they can divulge that information after the event. I think Andy Ihnatko had the iPad 2 and could talk about it after the product launch. Sara had the third generation iPad but couldn't discuss until after the launch.

People always say the above as if it is a bad thing. If you were running a company and launching new products, you would probably want as much fanfare and buzz as possible to drive sales.
Apple is in business to make money. So far their launch strategies have worked out pretty well for them, I'd say.
The fact that you interpreted it that way is a reflection of your mindset (negative).
I'm celebrating!
As a high volume Apple shareholder of over 20 years, these launches have pumped up my Apple portfolio to obscene heights. I got in with thousands of shares @ a mere $20 per share. Not bragging just making a point. The same Apple faithful that defend the brand & boast about the sales volume & valuation, will be the same ones to bash this post because I made a point.
It's a fickle very hypocritical group.
Yeah... I get to laugh, cause I hung in with Apple when everyone else said they were toast. Many years before iEverything.
Ha... Ha... Ha...![]()
