You have an idea how procurement works in larger companies and organizations?
[doublepost=1490348421][/doublepost]I don't get it. Why one of the largest technology company needs to shut down its online store to update something?
It has nothing to do with knowing about the products, they close the site to make alterations to the website reflecting the newest product updates. This isn't anything new.
I would buy it today, if it would be 4K ready.maybe they're sneaking in a surprise - a spec-bump in the apple TV ?![]()
to be an Apple fan this days..
Looks like the 8.01am PDT launch time isn't being adjusted for local time internationally. Taking the entire store down for the entire working day until 4.01pm UK time doesn't seem to be the best way to sell everything that's not a new product pre-order.
Apparently new watch bands and phone cases are supposed to keep us busy until Sept. Its really hard to be an Apple fan this days..
I agree with everyone else that it seems impossible there could be a technical reason Apple does this. It only makes sense as a marketing ploy to generate hype. But has a journalist actually asked Apple recently about this? It would be interesting if someone posted a straightforward question about this to see the response. If no one has or will then this impugns the integrity of journalists covering Apple. How can no one ask why a hugely profitable tech company needs to shut its online store down in 2017 to push a product?
Why have they closed the store down just to put the red iPhone on sale??
Yes I do. And never have I ever been in a position where one of my projects was materially affected by a vendor's short web outage.
I want to order a new iPad too, but I'm not going to pretend that it's some major catastrophe. But whatever floats your boat.
I don't know where you are but in Canada we have pretty poor access to Apple products outside of Apple directly. Best Buy are big US chain who have stores here but their Canadian stores are crap. They still don't know about the pending iPad release.
But despite how crap the Canadian resellers are, I'm still not sure what sort of issue would materially affect my project.
Maybe I just plan stuff out better though.
You are right. I am not materially affected by this: it is a very first world problem to have!
However, I need to / want to order through our University Edu-Apple store, because they usually have the best prices. However, when the store is down, I can not even get a quote on prices for ANY product.
Stuff like this is really why people in charge of procurement hate to order Apple stuff.
