The Apple homepage banner looks like this:

Looks like iPod is back to the main banner again!

It's been like that for months. I noticed that at the start of last month - just a matter of big sellers on the front page I reckon, keep it simple and sparse.

Is this the last hurrah for iPods? Rumors don't indicate a bigger screen for the Touch so my guess is this is the last iPod update we'll see.
I personally look at the iPod Touch exclusively as a music player, so I would not welcome a bigger screen.
Regarding your guesses, you're probably right, but a new iPod touch bought in these days it's going to last almost 3/4 years (as a music player) By 2018-2019 a lot of things will be changed and we'll see

Nah, my guess is the store is using an old header right now. If you pull up an archive page of the store (from say a week or two ago) the banner is the same as apple.com.

No its not......did you actually READ the bar? No Music tab but an iTunes tab. Its obviously an old cached file for their "we'll be back" page.

Did nobody notice that the updated iPod Touch does not include the wrist loop?

"Soldered buttons?" I laughed at that.

"The innovative new soldered buttons no longer click, press, or break. It's a beautiful detail that helps increase the structural rigidity of the device."

"To ... create the new iPod Shuffle, we completely rethought its design, unapologetically returning to the roots and core essence of what it should be. By soldering the buttons, the user has literally no control over what song is playing, making this the most ... authentic Shuffle we've ever released. The previous unsatisfying click when pressing a button is now replaced with no noise at all - also making this the most silent Shuffle that we've ever designed."

A 4.8" screen would be welcome. Even now, typing on the iPod touch has become harder as I got used to the larger screens on all other devices

I guess if one thinks of it as just a music player. I was thinking more in terms of gaming. Of course Apple wants to push people to iPhones as much as possible, hence why I think this is the end of iPod.

XD

And I could see that as a marketing point too. "Silent operation." Like those awkward skinny shuffles in 2011.

AHHH I'M SO EXCITED!

Here I was thinking I wouldn't be able to get a new iPod touch before my trip tomorrow, but maybe I'll be able to drive up to the Apple Store today and get one after all!

This is the moment I've been waiting for for a few years!

The Apple Music tab has not been shown on the Store's tab. It's been a different tab for months.

I am going to the mall tomorrow with a friend and while she shops for clothes (*for hours* :/) I'll finally have something to look at! And if I don't have enough self control, may walk out with a new toy...

I just might update my iPod touch depending on the spec bumps. (yes I still use a separate device for my music) :p
I'm thinking about getting a 16 gigger just for Apple Music, and use a different Apple ID to avoid my main library getting hosed.
