My university store is about to get some in. I bet that's probably my best bet.

Same here. They were supposed to receive a shipment Friday March 11th. I called yesterday morning and they told me they expected a shipment, but it never came. Said they were told it would arrive yesterday. I called yesterday evening before I left my desk, and they still hadn't received the shipment. The poor rep is fielding calls left and right about it, and she was frustrated with their Apple rep's continued promises. She's not sure what's going on. They are all ready to sell them, even have them setup in the POS systems, but need the stock to sell.

What?! I was at Lenox at 9am and they gave us slips to reserve an iPad and said they weren't getting any today.

I'm typing this on my iPad 2 bought from Lenox mall today. They got a couple 16 gb wi-fi only and all the Verizon models. 16/64 gb white Verizon, 32 gb black. Not sure what colors wi-fi they had but I got the last one and it was black.

I got there at 7 am and was #12 originally but after they gave out slips people left and I ended up 6 and got it. Those slips are a joke IMO. You'll be better off reserving at best buy.

I have a friend who works at the store and he said they expected a shipment sometime this week. He also gave me a form where I could order one through them. I assume it'll take as long as through Apple or BB, so I'll take my chances and hope he sees the shipment come through and calls me.

Century City has none this morning, they opened an hour early. Santa Monica had none and opened at their regular time.

I spoke with an employee at the CC location and it seems pretty clear that opening an hour early means jack. They are deciding to open earlier without knowing whether the shipment they will get will contain any.

Thanks everyone for the heads up. Seems like by the time iPad 2 is available, it will be time for iPad 3. This is making me just want to skip the 2 more.

I just left the Leawood, KS Apple Store at 11. There were about 25 people in line with no sign of a delivery yet. The employee greeter told me they did not receive any on Monday.

^^^exactly. They gave people too much time to change their mind. Had they just had a iPhone 4 like pre-order process, they would have sold a lot more. I know they'll still make a bagillion dollars, but had they established a better process, they would have had a bagillion dollars + the two $499 iPads my gf and I would have bought. Now we're not buying them.

I got one iPad on launch day and have been looking for another (for the wife). I'm just going to patiently wait a few weeks before I try again. Its funny when people decide they no longer want something because the product is sold out every where. Take a deep breath, wait a few days and try again.

This is downtown SF. I drove by to check out the line to see if it was worth it to queue up before I go to work, guess not. Im sure they'll sell out to the first 50-75 folks. But this is well over 400+ people lined up since the queue is wrapped around H&M store already around 8am this morning

I just stopped by the Polaris store in Columbus Ohio. They told me that they did not receive any iPads today. But they are opening tomorrow morning at 9am with "very limited stock".
Take that for whats it worth.

My Fiance was waiting for me at the Sherman Oaks Apple Store, they were just told that the store would absolutely NOT be receiving any units today. :(

They were also told by an employee that even if the store receives units, it's up to the manager as to whether or not they will sell to people in line (at the time) or hold them until the following morning.

What is everyones experience at Apple Stores regarding when they get shipments in the morning? I'm considering waiting at the store (LOL god, this is so pathetic) around 9:45 to 11am.

Safe to say, all Apple Store employees are sick of all of us...

Repeating the same thing 1,000 times a day must drive them insane. I bet they take some joy in letting you all down when you're lined up at the store. I probably would to...

I was at the Scottsdale Quarter store this morning. I was 8th in line, they only had 4 iPads total available. With such a small number, it makes me wonder if it was even a shipment. I sort of think the 4 they gave out had a very good chance of being returns, maybe backlight bleeding or something. There's no way they had a shipment of only 4 units for an entire day, so they had to be returns.

Maybe unopened returns, but I highly doubt they would sell an open-box iPad as "new".

Number 1 in line at the Apple Store in the Ala Moana Mall in Honolulu and was just told they have some in stock ready to sell at 9am!!!

That picture really is insanity, states how out of hand this has gotten. There are news clips of people in Japan lining up for food. And here day after day, lines for iPads.

I'm as guilty as the rest of them, I lined up too this morning, no iPad though.

If you go to bestbuy.com and look at the iPad 2 link, you can see what stores if any have the model you are seeking. This avoids constant phonecalls asking if they have it.

I would say the easiest way to fix that is by updating in some way on the phone message, sign on the door, somehow online.....Sold out?

I called Apple store in San Luis Obispo, CA. this morning, they said they had no iPads for sale, but had a line. The person said to call tomorrow.
I just forgot about it and ordered online. Estimated delivery date is April 22.
I got on a call list at Mac Superstore in SLO. They're expecting shipments every day, maybe!!
If I can get one sooner I will cancel Apple order.

This is craziness!!!!
:(

I am starting to wonder if this is a giant hoax and whether or not there really is such a device known as the ipad2... I haven't seen one!

FWIW, the staff at 14th street in NYC couldn't have been better.

They kept us updated on stock, what they have, and were honest from 8:15 AM on. The line by the time the doors opened was the entire avenue length of 14th street.

I got there 8:10, was out of there by 9:30 with a white 16 GB Verizon, wanted black, but whatever, my girl and I won't fight over the ipad anymore.

By the time I walked out the door, they were telling those waiting that they were sold out, try again tomorrow. I'm guessing they had maybe 350 - 500 pieces, all white (Save for a few 64 GB ATT's) and all Verizon, much to the dismay of the European couple in front of me who didn't understand why Verizon wouldn't work in Europe (apple employee was very nice to make sure they didn't buy less they be disappointed when CDMA didn't work in Europe)

The amount of large cash being divvied by the ring leader from Chinatown was amazing to watch. How someone walks around comortably with over $10K in a fanny pack and waits for each member to come up to hand the cash to is beyond me, seems risky!

I'd imagine if you go to Canal Street today you may be able to pick one up over cost before they end up in a large suitcase bound for Beijing.

I made a separate thread about this, but worth re-stating. I believe best buy (at least near me) is only selling iPads via in-store reservations. The online inventory doesn't specify if those are reserved or not. Best thing to do is ask your local best buy their current policy on iPads.

Wow.. Now this is kinda ridiculous approach by Apple. Last stock received on Friday..and nothing through Tuesday. Werent they expecting the stock to be sold out that stores would need new inventory.
Is it artificial hype to make it seem that the demand is soooooo much...
Confused :S

Apple Store at Pheasant Run Mall, Nashua, NH...

finally told the 100 or so people in line at 11:30 AM that they had no iPads or bananas today. Sales rep suggesting lining up again tomorrow morning at 9 AM - meaning arriving at the mall at 6:30 or so to have any shot at the phantom device. No thanks.

I just called the Apple Store in Chandler, AZ and this is how they answered the phone:

"Hi, Apple Store Chandler we are completely sold out of iPad 2s my name is Craig. How can I help you?"

I don't see Best Buy selling any iPads to walk ins until all reservations are gone. If someone doesn't have a reservation I wouldn't even consider going to Best Buy, at least not until demand has died down. But if they do happen to show stock on their website perhaps it will be a good sign for those who do have reservations.

Nevermind. I just checked on their website and they have removed the ability to search for available stock. It shows "Not Available" for both shipping and in store pick up.
