Number 1 in line at the Apple Store in the Ala Moana Mall in Honolulu and was just told they have some in stock ready to sell at 9am!!!

Do you know if they have any 64gb Black Wi-fi models in stock? Also, how much people is in line? Might head there at 8 if they really do have in stock!

Wow.. Now this is kinda ridiculous approach by Apple. Last stock received on Friday..and nothing through Tuesday. Werent they expecting the stock to be sold out that stores would need new inventory.
Is it artificial hype to make it seem that the demand is soooooo much...
Confused :S|

Starting to think artificial hype now. But who knows. With Japan all over the news, I haven't really seen any news about the iPad sales and what not.

3 people in line at 630am at Kahala Mall in Honolulu. Store opened at 7am and was able to get a 32gb White Wifi (No 64 either color, No 16 white) but they didn't seem like they had a huge amount of stock

The amount of large cash being divvied by the ring leader from Chinatown was amazing to watch. How someone walks around comortably with over $10K in a fanny pack and waits for each member to come up to hand the cash to is beyond me, seems risky!

I'd imagine if you go to Canal Street today you may be able to pick one up over cost before they end up in a large suitcase bound for Beijing.
This crap pisses me off so bad! Yeah, I understand free market capitalism but I can't find an AT&T iPad in stock any where because greedy individuals are buying them all up to sell over seas 3 times their value.

Thousand Oaks, CA Apple Store told us at 947A that all of their shipments had come in and there were NO iPads today. Each day this goes on, that $500 in my pocket gets more comfortable staying there permanently.

I don't see Best Buy selling any iPads to walk ins until all reservations are gone. If someone doesn't have a reservation I wouldn't even consider going to Best Buy, at least not until demand has died down. But if they do happen to show stock on their website perhaps it will be a good sign for those who do have reservations.

Nevermind. I just checked on their website and they have removed the ability to search for available stock. It shows "Not Available" for both shipping and in store pick up.
I saved the url link before it was removed. ;)

Was 2nd in line at the Arrowhead Apple Store in Arizona. We were told no iPads had arrived and that they were not expecting any in. I called all the other stores and was told they didn't receive any today.

FYI - I was first in line this morning (I live a few blocks away, so I rolled out of bed and walked over), but a group of about 10 scalpers got there as well. So FYI, the scalpers are still out and about.

I wish Apple would do credit card sales for the first few weeks to stop importers from hogging all of the inventory!!! 2 iPads per credit card number!!!!

Thanks for the idea. I was able to get the link from my history. I'll keep an eye on it and see if anything changes over the next few days.

The problem is even if they get some in they will go to the reserved ones not to customers just walking in so unless you have a reservation it is not going to be much help knowing how many they get.

Northbrook Court (IL) -- Apple employee said at around 8:45 that they only had 7 to sell (no mention which models). "Try back tomorrow".

I do have a resevation. I think I'm 4th or 5th in line, possibly closer depending on what models the ones before me reserved. Just figured if I see my location change to "In Store Only" I probably have a good chance to be called. Of course nobody knows if reserved units will even show up in stock.

And people continue to think it is the demand and that some plant in china is cranking 'em out as fast as they can. ********. Apple has made plenty of them--they just want to slowly feed stores to continue the hype and belief that "I've got to get my hands on one!". It is a brilliant marketing ploy that only Apple can get away because of exciting products. But again, brilliant strategy and we are fools playing along.

Finally!!!!

After waking up at 5:30 am to get to Apple store at 6:30, just to be told to go home. I decided swing by BB. Someone had just returned a 32g wifi. Got $50 off retail because it was a return. I'm very happy. My wife is pissed:eek:
Sorry babe!

My university store said they should get a bunch in anywhere between tomorrow or Friday. They said they were originally supposed to get them last Friday but didn't. The rep claimed they have a lot of pre-orders, but ordered more than they needed. I asked for the 16GB AT&T 3G, so we'll see what happens. I didn't have to put any money down. I should know by then end of the week if I'll get one.

You got lucky. Best buys are not supposed to sell open box iPads or iPods.

San Fran Apple store at Stockton had a bunch but were sold out by 9:30. The last person who got one was waiting since ~6am. Also, almost everyone in line looked like a scalper.

San Francisco Chestnut Street had a few but by 9am only had several Verizon/White/64GB models left (which seems to be the three least popular features).

Then it's a good thing you weren't at the Apple SoHo New York store this morning because you would have had a coronary. I had an appointment nearby and I decided to walk past the store when I was done to see if there was much of a line. At 9:45am, the line was about halfway down Greene St, so I estimate about 150 - 200 people. Thing is, they were almost all asian and I got the impression that they either knew each other and were part of an organized group to buy up the stock. Couple of ring leaders communicating with everyone on what models the employees said they had available, etc.

I think there will be plenty on sale in Chinatown today at a huge markup.

Same thing at the 5th Av store. They're everywhere...

Same thing in San Francisco Friday/Today. A lot of middle-aged Asian people with nothing in the way of "techie" about them, and a couple of people who looked in charge moving about the line. A lot of people were also holding white envelopes, which I would guess has just the right amount of cash for the models they're supposed to buy.

I used to think it was a bit of a dick move by Apple to refuse cash and limit purchases, but now I wish it was policy for the first few months. I can't see supply easing until the grey market becomes saturated.

Exact same thing in Portland this morning.
