Tim Cook is shaping up to be a terrible CEO.

I'm in complete agreement with you.
It's like Willy Wonka died & the accountant took over the factory: not a good deal.

But I'm curious about how you respond to people when they say
you're wrong about Cook because the stock's at an all time high?
What's your answer to that? I ask because people say it to me! lol

The reason that you don't have an answer for that is because you're probably wrong. Tim Cook has been good for Apple in almost every facet of the company, yet people whine and complain about how he's no Steve Jobs. People hate change and suffer from memory bias.

I don't understand why people preordered this. It's not a phone. The demand is not that high. Just buy it on the website for in-store pickup and go get it. I just did and will pick mine up over my lunch break.

Not everything is like an iPhone release where supplies are constrained for months. :)
People made decisions based on the available information at the time. Also, they are excited. Give them a break. Hindsight is 20/20.

Dropped my kid off at school and saw news post it was available in stores. Logged on to Apple Store app and ordered for pickup at the mall down the road from his school. Grabbed the 32gb. Excited to give it a try.

Looks like mine is delivering monday. First time next day shipping = last time next day shipping. Thanks Friday releases!

Received mine today at 10:30am

**PSA**

For those of you who chose free shipping and it is being handled by UPS.... UPS will require a signature even though Apple did not.

Why post an article that it will be available in Best Buy today when you can't even order it on the Best Buy website, just says coming soon. Where did MacRumors get there information?
It was available for pre-order on Best Buy all week. It looks like that changed in the past few hours. It will probably be available for order again soon.

I always say, I don't own stock in Apple, therefore I don't care. I only care about the end result of the overpriced products that I'm buying (primarily for work purposes). Apple stuff no longer "just works." The software development and UI teams have been really terrible the last few years. Apple can't rely on their "Old" reputation forever.

Complained on what? That you didn't get the very first one off the line?

For me, this has just been a confusing experience. The shipping times are vague, the updates are vague and rare and I think the expectations that have been set by iPhones being delivered to many on day one make this even more annoying.

For me, the next shipping date range was Oct. 30 - Nov. 3. So, obviously it's coming on the 3rd? The regular shipping date availability was sooner than that.

Instant gratification society, no one has any patience. Well, sorry, but you're gonna have a hard time unless you learn some spiritual maturity, patience and thankfulness. Some people don't have clean water, others don't have a safe place to live or have no food, and ALL you have is "No Apple TV". You'll excuse me not feeling even the slightest sympathy for you, I hope.

Wow, grow up folks and think OUTSIDE your sphere of self-gratification.

I don't think you're going to find any spiritual maturity by judging others either. Less perhaps. For all you know these people give 10% of their earnings to the church, who, hopefully, uses it wisely in their mission efforts.

I got mine this morning in an Apple Store and I've been using it since.

Honestly though, I'm a bit frustrated with Apple. I used to love pretty much anything they put in front of me. After using the Watch for a few days it left me thinking "meh" - their first product that I actually returned. And now Apple TV 4 is a bit of a disappointment as well. It - in many ways - simply does not feel ready.

The remote is so small that it feels uncomfortable to use after a little while and I seriously hope you never have to use the on-screen keyboard as it is even worse than previous ones. The rest of the UI feels (although it looks better) a lot like using the old one.

Siri feels extremely limited, but it's pretty much the only way (other than using the on screen keyboard) to access the universal search. If you browse through movies in the store it won't show you whether they're available on Netflix - you have to use Siri to look for it. And there are plenty of bugs as well. For instance I was looking for "Gravity", which Siri understood correctly, yet didn't show in the results. Only when searching for movies with Sandra bullock it shows gravity as a result.

Also I was unable to purchase anything in the store the first few times I tried. And iTunes extras seems to be gone for a lot of movies, that on ATV 3 had that feature.

For almost three times the price of ATV 3 it seems as though Apple still has A LOT of work to do to get this right. The future of television is not here yet... In fact, if this is the future of tv, I'd rather stick to the past.

Are there any useful apps in the store yet? Can you port iPad/iPhone apps like you can on an iPad or does it appear they are all AppleTV specific. If not, what a bust launch.

Totally agree. Apple "screwed" people with this launch. And it's not a major deal, just annoying that it just seemed to be so poorly handled and organized. No real advanced notice as to when you can order online, no firm release day until a few days after online orders were made available, etc. It's just typical of how Apple has been the last few years. Tim Cook is shaping up to be a terrible CEO... Again, not a big deal that I have to wait until next week, but still annoying and indicative of other recent botched launches.

 Revenues have more than tripled, profits are skyrocketing, the iPhone is selling at record levels, Macs are at an all time high, and Tim Cook is a terrible CEO. Well if that's terrible, give me more terrible CEOs.

Apple TV is still an "accessory." People aren't lining up around the corner for it. Most people will buy it in stores through walk-ins, and it is also priced to be a holiday gift. Apple was completely upfront about when the product would be delivered. Could they have made October 30 delivery "free" instead of $17? Sure, but that's a quibble. So "free" shipping gets it to you Monday instead of Friday.

Such a stupid argument. Who the F cares about how much money they are making if the product is becoming worse and worse???? By your logic it doesn't matter if Big Macs sucks as long as McDonald's make money. I don't give a hoot in hell if Apple is making money or not. I only care about the product that I'm purchasing.

yeah, this is totally not sitting well with me. I can order the apple tv 4 right now, and pick it up in 20 min from the apple store, however, I did the preorder, and it has been stuck in the preparing for shipping since tuesday, and now my friends who just order this morning have their apple tv already, I am waiting till monday or wednesday? I wish I could cancel my order, and just reorder for the apple store pickup, which was not a option until a couple days ago.....

Why not just return the one you are ordering, then, and buy one in store? Apple never said the pre-orders would arrive first. As I recall, Tim Cook said in an interview on Monday that it would be available in stores on Friday. It's not like this is a limited run or a supply-constrained product like the iPhone (and even that wasn't all that supply constrained this year).

Apple has actually gotten a lot BETTER at logistics (apart from the initial Watch and MacBook launches) compared to the past few years.

I couldn't agree more. However they 3rd hasn't passed yet. So I would just continue to be patient. But some think they are entittled to more. To each is own and glad they got a discount if that's what they were looking for. ;)

Who says the product is becoming worse and worse? I like the iPhone 6S, iPad mini 4, and MacBook, and am looking forward to getting my first Apple TV next week.

I know some people will think this is just whining but Apple had to know on Monday that the device would be in store on Friday. Why even offer preorders if the device will be in store before many preorders are even delivered? Or why not have an option during checkout to reserve for in store pickup today? And where was the press release announcing that it was available for sale and when it would be in stores. It's all very weird. Obviously the buck stops with Tim Cook but the I think the blame here resides with marketing and retail.

With iPhones they make special arrangements with UPS and FedEx. These are going through the regular delivery channels (e.g. UPS Ground or 2-Day). Those of us in big cities near UPS distribution centers get them toward the beginning of the window. The latter part is normal UPS wiggle room for ground shipments.

They could have offered an in-store pickup option before today, but my guess is that they felt they didn't need to since Apple TV isn't a product like iPhone where they will sell millions on the launch weekend. I pre-ordered but chose the free shipment option. I was tempted just to wait until today, but I decided to save a little in sales tax by having it shipped to me through the free option (Apple collects only the state tax on those transactions).
