Here is my setup, still need to finish cable management. I changed everything in my home office this year. Went with clean, black and white. There was a lot of browns in here before.

I posted a long note about my transition from 20 years of owning iMacs....to now going forward with the separate display and computer lifestyle. We will see how it goes. Running M1 MBA right now. I will upgrade to M2 Max MBP or Studio when they come out, still deciding between full desktop or "desktop laptop".

I LOVE your setup!!! Great job! So stylish and yet functional! Congratulations!

My iMac power supply made a terrible noise when connected to an inexpensive UPS on battery power. Higher-quality UPS devices (with "sine wave" output) provide much better-quality power and don't have the same issue. You might consider using a UPS or power conditioner if your wall power is especially dirty.
I run my setup on a cyber power pure-sine wave UPS. I also tried with my APC pure sine wave UPS and a third cheaper non-sine wave UPS. The noise went through all of them straight to the display. And, my M1 iMac is sitting on the same desk as the Studio display and is completely silent. Studio display returned, back to my old Dell :(

Did you try unplugging the UPS and running the display off the UPS battery?
Yes, unplugging the UPS and running off the battery works fine - and completely solves the line noise problem with the studio display. That doesn't help for day-to-day use though - I can't work in 40 minute increments...

Is it possible to use the Apple Studio Display in portrait mode? I'm considering to replace my setup with 2x 34-inch 21:9 ultrawides stacked on top of each other, whereas the lower one used for gaming is going to my Windows desktop and the top one is going to my M1 Mac mini with a setup of a 27-inch in portrait mode on the side, and a LG C2 42-inch OLED as my main monitor. My Windows desktop would be connected to the LG OLED, while my M1 Mac mini would be connected to the 27-inch in portrait mode.

I'm considering to get the Apple Studio Display with a VESA mount as the 27-inch as it should go perfect with the M1 Mac mini that is soon to be replaced with a Mac Studio in June. That 5K resolution is perfect for HiDPI scaling and PPI when used with macOS and I don't need anything more than 60Hz on that secondary display as it will be used for mostly reading text and running videos.

But I can't find much information on running the Apple Studio Display in portrait mode. I suppose it should be no problem? How would the camera deal with it being in portrait mode?

Can’t decide what I prefer. Never thought I would say this but the white bezels may look better in this setting…

Yes there was, I picked up my SD on release day from the apple store. Within 2 days software update showed an update for the Studio Display which I installed.
There was an update, but not one that deals with the camera issue. I am uncertain what the first update included.

Ordered yesterday a pair of ASD VESA mount for my Mac Studio. I’m using Ergotron LX tall pole with dual arms. I need no less than 6’ Thunderbolt cables and also the power cord needs to be at least 6’. Can anyone confirm the length of the power cord? Also, I just read that the Thunderbolt cable provided with the ASD is only 1 m? Is that correct? If yes, then I need to order a pair of Apple 1.8 m Thunderbolt 4 cables ?

No need to order the Apple cables. Caldigit and OWC have 2m TB4 cables for about $60.

Congrats to all on their new displays, or soon-to-arrive displays!

Picked mine up from a local Apple Store today that had them in stock. Coming from a LG 32UN880-B this thing is quite a bit smaller, but the increase in resolution is just awesome. Never quite understood what everyone was on about regarding fuzziness with scaled resolutions. Now I get it.

Speakers and mic are great. Webcam looks good too especially when the portrait mode is enabled. I will probably leave CentreStage disabled for most of my video conferencing needs. Fingers crossed for an update that improves the webcam even just a little bit.

Great. Enjoy it.

People who are talking about better specced screens for half price don‘t get the point: There is almost no options when it comes to a 5k display with high ppi. LG 5K, XDR with 6k and the ASD with 5K.

I had also my Studio Display delivered last week. Does anyone know how to get additional Windows drivers from the most recent Boot Camp software? I want to make the display as compatible as possible with my Windows laptop which I have to use for work also.

Unfortunately I can't access Boot Camp with my M1 Mac :/

Guys, when the ASD is connected with a tb cable to a MBP and the MBP is OFF, there is no power to the ASD USB-C ports.
(about 10 seconds after turning OFF the MAC, all ASD USB-C ports loose power)

If you disconnect the tb cable from the MBP, the power comes back ON to the ASD USB-C ports.

That means you cannot charge an iPhone to the ASD when the ASD is connected to a MBP, but you can charge it if you disconnect the MBP!?

Sadly can't seem to get them in Canada (without ludicrous shipping costs).

Does anyone have experience with the Plugable Thunderbolt 4 cable? Their amazon listing says "Thunderbolt Certified"...

Received my 2nd Studio Display today and have had time to use them for a while. The second display hasn't prompted for a firmware update so I wonder if the first display updates it, the Mac updates it, or it just hasn't prompted me yet.

Overall they are great however there is one issue I noticed straight away. If you have you Mac Studio underneath your display as Apple has shown, then you will be impairing one of the speakers. As soon as I started playing music I noticed it as there is less room for the sound to escape on the side you have the Mac.

Also it is not possible to use the speakers in both displays at the same time as far as I can tell. Because of this one of the displays speakers will be completely redundant. This is especially strange when you have sound coming out of one display but your YouTube video is playing on the other (silent) display.

Build quality is as superb as you would expect and they look amazing.

It works with my pair of LG 32UN880-B so pretty sure it would work with a pair of Studio Displays. BTW, I also ordered a pair of Studio Displays with VESA mount adapter to replace my pair of 32UN880-B displays.

I have successfully used the two-meter version of the Maxonar cable, even though it is passive, currently driving 4K@60Hz and a boatload of USB cameras, microphones, external drives and other stuff.

Hopefully I can test it with the Studio Display within a week.

I'm reading all the nano texture reviews... I ordered tilt/height + nano and debating cancelling, but then that bumps me to the back of the line by 8 weeks if I cancel and order the standard. Ugh!

I went to Best Buy today and they had the standard glass on display. It looked AMAZING even under Best Buy's ultra bright floor lighting. I did not notice any annoying reflections on the display. I just wanted to see if my decision regarding ordering a pair with standard glass was right and definitely it was the right decision. Coming from an iMac 5K Retina was the natural decision to make.
