I got two, tilt-only, side by side, they're not at the same angle... the right one is about 1 degree off, so it looks bad when you put them side by side anyone have tips for this?
Use a level to find out which one is “off” and contact Apple for a replacement. For $1600 you shouldn’t put up with bad quality control.

IMO Apple should have made the height adjustable high enough to allow 90 degree rotation. The stand has excellent build quality and would be worth the $400 premium over the VESA and tilt-only models if it supported rotation. But that said, many people will find the height adjustment model worth the $400 premium as is.
It would be a nice add, but I think the number of people using monitors in a vertical layout is very niche. Programmers and Excel spreadsheet masters don’t strike me as the buyers.

It should be noted that according to reviews, the 32" Pro Display XDR stand has some play in the joint, so you can tilt so it isn't horizontal. Presumably that's partially because it was built to rotate. Quite frankly that seems like a fail to me, considering it costs $1000.

I agree it's a pain to find in stock though haha, I got wait listed for my last replacement =/

Has anyone here played any video games on it yet? Like Wow for example. Wow plays OK graphically on the 2019 imac but horrible fan noise to the point where I never bothered.
I have the base Mac Studio (10,24,16) hooked up to the Studio Display. I installed X-Plane 11.55 setting the graphics to a high setting. I was getting ~15 fps flying low level over San Francisco, taking the settings down one tic got me to ~ 30 fps, again over a dense city. Oh, and absolutely no noise from either the Mac Studio or the Studio Display. On my 2020 i9 iMac the fans would have been racing, and the settings were down a couple of tics.

I've been gaming on a windows pc + 3090 with it it works great! Cyberpunk at 5k with DLSS is gorgeous, along with yakuza, tales of arise tomb raider etc

Just woke my MacBook Pro (intel 2020) and Studio Display by moving the mouse and was welcomed by a grainy pixelated low resolution display. All web looked awful. So I restarted the computer, got a weird error screen (stripes and diagonals in flashy colours) and after it restarted all looked normal. Anyone got any idea what this was? Thanks.

It's not an issue at all. Have it in front of me.

Hi all, wondering if any owners could share their thoughts with me? It'd be greatly appreciated, thank you.

It's not the same panel. Similar, but not the same. It's still manufactured by LG, but it has a different part number.

EDIT:

I've been looking for the reference, but I can't find it anymore. Hmm... iFixit claims it's the same panel, but gives no evidence for this.

It is one digit off suggesting a slight change from the other 5k panels LG produced (which are also 1 digit off). The gain in brightness is likely due to better cooling allowing the backlight to be turned up higher. The improved viewing angles likely come from the improved font glass on the ASD. The panel itself is probably identical aside from potentially a slight form factor change for the ASD casing. I highly doubt Apple were able or willing to pay to get LG to develop a brand new low-run panel.

I've only played Magic Arena on it. That used to make the fans on my iMac scream and I can't hear anything from my ASD or Macbook when I play it.

I have not experienced this at all. Changing between ASD and 16” MBP provides excellent quality on both. Portrait and Center stage are selectable in Menu bar controls…..and other then ASD webcam being a bit cartoonish, the sound and mic’s have been perfect.
I noticed that the too bassy is on the ASD speakers only. When I speak via ASD mic and connect say with iPad on the same zoom, the output of my voice on iPad is normal (not bassy). However whoever speaking though ASD speakers sound really too bassy and very weird. On MBP speaker sounds come out just normal.

If not everyone experience this, could it be a defect?

With the 14" MacBook Pro and the Studio Display I have finally regained all the functionality of a 5K iMac I care about, with one exception, which is the power button. Is there any way to power on a MacBook in clamshell connected to a Studio Display without opening it?

have you tried pushing the touch-id button on the wireless keyboard?

Of course I cannot hear what your ASD sounds like, but I think perception is very individual here. I find my ASD to be very bassy as well. I thought the same when I replaced my TV speakers with two HomePod mini, since I had mostly used iPhone, MacBook & flat TV speakers for years before (so basically no bass ?). If anything, I‘d expect a SW fix at some time (or options to configure the speakers – very unlikely though since it’s Apple). I‘ve also wondered though if there is any way to test if all of the 6 speakers work?

Why do you power it off?

Lots of reasons, including 30+ years of computing habit.

However, the primary reasons are that I have a monitor that doesn’t handle sleep well and external drives and other stuff connected through a dock that need to be safely unmounted prior to disconnection. The quick, simple and reliable way to do that is to power off.

have you tried pushing the touch-id button on the wireless keyboard?

That was the first thing I tried.

No it doesn't. I just tested it with my Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and 14" MBP M1 Max.

Regrettably the power button on my Apple Extended Keyboard II doesn’t work either. ?

Hey there, does anyone know if the ASD USB-C ports can drive external displays? I have a couple LG UltraFine 4k 21.5's (they are USB-C, not Thunderbolt) and it would be awesome if they could be daisy-chained through the ASD for a one-cable solution to my MBP M1 Max.
Pardon the ignorant question here, but I have a 16" M1 Pro MacBook Pro that I am currently pairing with the smaller 22" LG UltraFine 4K display. My Studio Display is expected to arrive next week (fingers crossed) and was wondering, is it possible for my MacBook to power both the LG and ASD? It looks like according the Apple that my computer can indeed power two monitors, but I'm not quite sure what I need to connect them both and how it exactly works. If it can't be done I am happy with just selling my LG. Thank you in advance for your help!
I’ve just tested connecting my old 21.5" UltraFine to the Studio Display’s USB ports and could’t get it to turn on. I wasn’t expecting this, but it seems like you’ve got to connect them separately to your MacBook. Performance with M1 Pro is unsurprisingly no problem at all, I didn’t notice any difference to running the Studio Display alone.

Personally I am happy with a single monitor and never even thought about keeping the UltraFine.

It’s there on the same video I posted around the 5min30s mark.

It’s not “official” in the sense that someone came out and made an statement about it (same can be said for the opposite case)
