Thank you for this comment! Have they changed the height on the 27 iMac's over the years? I had a 2012 27 inch iMac and I had no problems at all with that height.
No prob! Now that I'm not sure of. I stopped paying attention after I bought mine in 2017.

Too tall for my 30" Cinema Display, which only has about 3.5" of clearance.

My 2010 and 2017 27" are identical from the front.

Thanks! I just ordered the tilt monitor from Costco. Shows up on Wednesday and is $100 cheaper than Apple. If I really dislike the height, I can return it long before Apple is expected to ship the height adjustable one that I ordered (ETA is currently June 8 - 23).

The goal is, I get the tilt one and love it enough to cancel the height adjustable and then use the $1000 savings (was going to buy 2 height adjustable ones) plus trade in my Mac mini for a base model Mac Studio.

$800 savings on both stands, plus $200 total savings ordering through Costco, plus trading in the Mini for $600, puts me at $1600 down for a $1999 Mac Studio.

Not yet. I have my Studio paired with the 27 inch LG from the apple store. By end of year, I hope to have dual studio displays.

Current config works great, just not matchy-match.

I got two, tilt-only, side by side, they're not at the same angle... the right one is about 1 degree off, so it looks bad when you put them side by side anyone have tips for this?

Slide a piece of card stock like a business card under the base of one of them, on the inside of the side you want to raise. A small change under the base makes a bigger change out at the edge of the screen. For me, I wasn't sure if it was the monitors or my desk that was leading to a small height difference and angle between the screens, but one of those "Happy?" inserts that Anker includes in Amazon purchases made them line up perfectly.

Excellent question that I don't know the answer to. Sure would be great if they did!
Unfortunately they don't stack. The Costco 2-year warranty begins the date of purchase. AppleCare is extended coverage and has no bearing on the Costco warranty. If you purchase with a Costco credit card or have other means to access it, Costco offers an additional 2-years extended (4 years total) from the date of purchase. Once again, AppleCare has no bearing on this...

IMO, the Costco coverage is nice on a lot of things as it usually buys an extra year where they try their best to match the manufacturer's original warranty terms (or your money back) and it's automatic and included with many membership levels. AppleCare is worth it due to the accidental damage protection, which the Costco warranty does not cover.

So Costco warranty and AppleCare warranty run concurrently, they don't stack.

Height adjustable, non-nano. Ordered a few hours after event. First had 31 march to 6 april window, but that changed after a few days to 6-13 april. Last night it went to prepare for shipment and just now it says shipped. Expected delivery Tuesday 19th.
Same order and date range. Still showing “Processing.”

I am doing lots of meetings (Webex, Google and Teams) and found the Studio Display audio/speakers really annoying, almost impossible to understand what somebody is talking.
Too much bass and sort of bubbling voices due to spatial/surrounding effects.
I got somehow better results going in MIDI app and choosing stereo setting. But there is no bass control whatsoever.
Most of the time I switch to the MBP speakers and all is okay, finaly clear voices. I wonder what Mac Studio and MacMini owners will do without other speakers available?!

This experience also rise the question what is the use of this sophisticated speaker system?
-Meetings and FaceTime - useless
-Music maybe, but music professionals use stereo, not surround.
-Games will be a good application but again cannot connect an Apple TV, PS, Nintendo to the Studio Display
-Movies also a good application, but you are limited, only the TV app or some streaming services in a browser window like 20 years ago. No Netflix, Hulu apps for MAC. And again, will be diferent story if could connect an Apple TV to the Studio Display
-FCPX maybe some professionals, but for home use not realy?
I have not experienced this at all. Changing between ASD and 16” MBP provides excellent quality on both. Portrait and Center stage are selectable in Menu bar controls…..and other then ASD webcam being a bit cartoonish, the sound and mic’s have been perfect.

For those of you who already have the display, would you recommend it? I did order on announcement day but then cancelled because I wasn't sure about spending over $1.5k on a display that had the same panel as the the old 5k iMac and had a single backlight.

Given I can't afford a pro display I'm reconsidering. What do current owners think?
I like the ASD. It is a high quality display.

when i poking around the wired system prefs on my mac studio, i noticed the ASD had a self assigned IP address.

anyone know what this would be useful for? it's got a hardwire symbol rather than a wireless symbol.

If you need 5K resolution and/or you care about design and build quality, go for it.
Otherwise, you can find good alternatives.
I definitely want 5k for the retina element, and I love the design. I might go for it in the summer

If you do not assign the Ethernet interface an IP address manually, and it is not connected to a network where it can find a DHCP server, it will always have a self-assigned address. This is not unique to the Mac Studio, or even macOS.

Yeah, but he was talking about the Apple Studio Display (ASD). I guess the point is other monitors don't have IP addresses listed at all, because they aren't running full OSes that have this functionality. Apple Studio Display has no WiFi or Ethernet.

Exactly. It's probably just a characteristic of the embedded iOS system running on an A13 platform. While there is no physical Ethernet port or WiFi module present, the support for such things are still in the A13 SOC and accompanying OS. So it will self-assign its own meaningless local looping IP.

...IMO, with the integrated A13 system, I think Apple should have included the WiFi and ethernet connectivity because they could have had a full-featured integrated AppleTV device. Most are not going to buy it for TV watching purposes, but still seems like it could be useful to some and a missed opportunity with the potential capabilities. When we first learned that there was a full A-series SOC in the display, I (and I'm sure many others) thought this is exactly what they were doing. I get they need this for the onboard audio processing and camera features with center stage. But at the same time there's lots of capability not being used.

I was listening to John Gruber's The Talk Show podcast and he mentioned that when the display was updating to the latest firmware, it was using ethernet to communicate between the Mac and Display to transfer the firmware and update it. If that makes any sense...

Just add some layers of electrical tape or something to work as a shim on the right-hand underside of the stand on the left one to raise it up slightly on that side. Or maybe reposition them on your desk (the desk surface might be the culprit if it's not dead flat).

there's no physical connector but the Studio Display does have a built-in ethernet interface:

I guess this goes back to @lcubed's question. What is this for? Is the display using Ethernet-over-USB as @anshuvorty indicates, for OS updates? If so, why not just use USB? It's interesting too that it's actually 2.5 Gbps Ethernet (although limited to 480 Mbps due to presumably a USB 2 connection.)

I'm asking myself since day one what this interface could be for. I have no idea whatsoever.
the 2.5 Gb adapter makes even less sense because it's connected through USB 2.0 (480 Mbps).
the interface in my studio display also has an IPv6 address and I can ping it. also I can SSH
into my own system (Mac mini, Remote Login (SSH) enabled) via this IPv6 address.

Has anyone here played any video games on it yet? Like Wow for example. Wow plays OK graphically on the 2019 imac but horrible fan noise to the point where I never bothered.
