I got two, tilt-only, side by side, they're not at the same angle... the right one is about 1 degree off, so it looks bad when you put them side by side anyone have tips for this?
Let me propose a lazy unprofessional method that work for me:

What I do is that I get transparent scotch tape and start rolling/packing/folding a thumb sized flat enough stub over its own… like folding a paper into a stub but with scotch tape (the outer plastic will make it last forever vs paper, cardboard box or foam).
Slide it under the corner of the base that would make it more leveled. Roll more on its own as a means to increase the height. Over time due to weight it might get compacted… adjust again and that will probably the last time ever.

You could also use coaster style slice or this gripping mousepad material (forgetting the name of this) but I also wrap them in tape because heat and weight pressure might leave a mess under it over time.

I have successfully done this on 2 TB displays and a full separate glass desk (on one one of its legs) put next to another that I needed to be aligned because the mouse pad happens to be a lot of the time in the union slit… this way I don’t even feel it.

Tried using before these circle pads for the base of chair’s legs but I couldn’t level it properly.

Also maybe play a bit with tilting as it might give you some leeway into making them look like more leveled.

I’ve just tested connecting my old 21.5" UltraFine to the Studio Display’s USB ports and could’t get it to turn on. I wasn’t expecting this, but it seems like you’ve got to connect them separately to your MacBook. Performance with M1 Pro is unsurprisingly no problem at all, I didn’t notice any difference to running the Studio Display alone.

Personally I am happy with a single monitor and never even thought about keeping the UltraFine.
Thanks, I received the monitor a couple days after I posted and tried myself and found the same thing. I think I'm going to try using the ASD on it's own as the LG's just look hideous next to the ASD!

Thanks. That worked.

However, he says if he turns off Center Stage, it goes back to the incorrect framing again with part of his head cut off. This was not a problem on his iMac.

Apple needs to fix iOS so that it provides the correct default framing on the Studio Display. IMO, Center Stage shouldn't be required just to get reasonable framing.
Fair point, but center stage has the bonus of always seeking the best framing.

I do agree a manual tuning and set should be an option...

I have the height-adjustable version. I recommend you get one of those to offset the attempt to make it match in angle and embrace the difference that way.

One month in, I'm still in love with my Studio Display. A few additional thoughts:

The camera is fine - yes, it's noisier than the M1 iMac camera I had before because its the ultra wide lens that is actually zoomed in when you're stationary (trade off is Center Stage). If they release a firmware update to improve the color profile or something, great. If they don't, it is 100% fine and better than every other Apple webcam I've ever owned excluding the standard 1080p webcam in the M1 iMac.

Display tech - Still waiting for people to send links to all these 5K (218ppi) 120Hz MiniLED displays everyone was expecting (for $1,599 no less). While we wait, I'm enjoying 5K Retina with great viewing angles and the deepest blacks I've seen on any Apple display aside from the XDR displays. I'm happy.

The power cable is not removable - who cares!? I may move this display 1-2 times for the life of the product. I'll carry the cord with me when I do (old Thunderbolt Display also had a non-removable cable - no one complained). Fear of the cord getting damaged is about as risky as your kid throwing a toy and cracking the glass. Just pray it doesn't happen and move on.

Speakers - They're very impressive. Almost sounds like a HomePod mini is embedded on each side of the display.

Design - It's perfect. This is the exact Apple display many have wanted for years.

Hi, lovely setup and thanks for your thoughts! Wondering if you could help me as I'm quite tempted to buy a new MacBook Pro 14/16 and Studio Display, but worried about the Studio Display not stacking up to the Mini LED screens. Just wondering when you take a photo on your iPhone 13 Pro, and look at the same photo on your iPhone, Studio Display and MacBook Air, how does that same photo compare with each screen?

Only reason I'm worried is I looked at the exact same photo on an iPhone 11 (colour range of millions of colours like your MacBook Air), and a 12 Pro Max (1 Billion colours like the Studio Display), and the iPhone 11 looked noticeably washed out and lacking in colour. Just wondering if you feel like your getting the same colour range from your iPhone and Studio Display? I accept that it be the exact same with the brighter and darker pixels, but would love to know what you think.

Can't really say with any scientific reasoning, but the same picture looks good to me on SD (high quality LCD IPS), iPhone 13 Pro (OLED), and M1 MBA (mid tier quality IPS LCD). I do agree that the MacBook Pro 14/16 will have a better display with MiniLED and 120Hz ProMotion, but obviously not at the scale of 27".

Waiting for the display tech to be 1:1 across all Apple devices may be a very long wait, and I guarantee you any future external Apple display at the quality of the MacBook Pro 14/16 is going to cost a lot more than $1,599. In the end, the Studio Display is absolutely aimed at MacBook Pro owners so if you can afford it and want it, get it.

Glad to hear you're happy with the display. Just trying to get some opinions, but I have no doubt it looks great, and that I'd be very happy with it even if on the expensive side, and like you said, anything else coming will cost a lot more, which this is already expensive enough for me. Thank you for thoughts! Gives me something to think about.

I have an M1 Max 16" and I do feel like I'm getting the same color range across displays and they are well matched. The only real noticeable difference is when I play an HDR movie shot from my iPhone 13 Pro it is brighter on the 16" due to the 1600 peak nits. It's not a deal breaker and the ASD is still plenty bright for my tastes.

My one concern was the 16" having Promotion and the ASD stuck at 60Hz, but in practice it's not an issue even when using both side-by-side.

I have this same problem. It's extremely annoying.

Apple care agent advised that "the camera likely got dislodged in shipping", and that I should return it to get a new one. However, this most definitely *not* the issue. It's should be an easy software fix. In "normal" (non center stage mode), my head is at the bottom of the frame for zoom/teams/etc. It's really awful.

Fair point, but center stage has the bonus of always seeking the best framing.

Do you have a studio display? Center stage does not always seek the best framing.

If anything, Center stage also has the "bonus" of being very distracting in business settings, making idiosyncratic unnecessary moves, and exposing the ultra low quality and graininess of the camera.

Glad to hear! I'll completely accept it not being as bright if the colour range is the same. I don't even care about Promotion, I have it on my iPad Pro 10.5 and I'm one of those people that actually can't tell the difference, luckily. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I use my 16 MacBook Pro and ASD side by side. And for normal content (no hdr) and mostly text, I do not see a difference. For me there is no huge advantage having miniLED besides watching hdr, which I do not consume on this Monitor anyway so why pay for it? It really depends on your needs

yes is fine, I don't care too much about the camera quality, is fine for casual meetings, if they improve it it would be good, but they can really improve it via a firmware? I doubt it, but overall I think for the price people expect more.

We'll see if the rumours are true about a new mini led "Studio Display Pro" or if the new XDR down on price or something, but yes, for now the studio display is fine.

Agree who care's but is an awful implementation to a product, move that thing with the cable attached is not good but like you say... I never move my monitor since 9 years ago. I love the imac 24 cable attachment, looks solid!

One of the big features! Agree.

Beautiful thing, no doubt, I just want a little smaller bezels, but just a little! like the XDR, monitors without bezels are not good, bezels are important for me.

This of trivial importance, but no, the power cord was just a standard power cable. It had a kind of weird circle on the end, but any desktop PC power cable worked there. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254110949951

The signal cord was non-removable, though, and that was unfortunate as it was relatively delicate.

Just got the emails from Best Buy to let me know my pair of ASDs VESA Mount are Ready For Pickup... Ironically, got the emails 7 mins before store's close time LOL. Tomorrow is the day then :)

You do know you can turn off center stage in some instances using control center. Right?

Current:

5K = $1699

....

What if?

Apple releases at WWDC:

6K (updated current one) for $3500

7K (new) for $5000 + stand extra

I agree the Pro Display XDR bezels are thinner and would look a bit sleeker. The Studio Display bezels are the same as the 24" iMac. I'd prefer a little thinner, but they're thin enough that another fraction of an inch wouldn't change the experience much at all, so they're good to me.

Easy improvement when you've stared at the 27" iMac front face as long as I have over the last decade.
