Anyone on the Mac OS 13 beta with the studio display not getting notification sounds come through? I can play sound but when notifications come in I don't hear anything.

This happened to me at some point. Go to Audio MIDI Setup and you can right click on a device to select it to play alerts and sound effects. Make sure your Studio Display is selected.

Sold my Studio Display after 4 weeks of light use. Even though I can afford it I have a hard time with a display with a 1600$ price tag. Ordered a 27” 4k dell for 350$ with built in ethernet. I love the Cinema Display, but I think it should be half the price.

The biggest drawback is the black level which IMHO is poor even by edge lit LCD standards and while it looks fine during the day it can look severely washed out in the low light of evening so it's for this reason I am going to return this display and wait for the Mini LED version.
I agree. Had my ASD for a few weeks now and although I love the sharpness of the screen (for text work), the 27" size, and the ease of use, the black levels are very poor. When watching a film in low light there is simply not enough contrast to be able to see much, photography work has the same problem. Upping the brightness makes everything a washy grey, lowering the brightness makes everything a washy dark grey. I won't return my asd as I love it for everything else and there's not really much of an alternative I believe. I hope to buy a new 14" mbp soon which I could use when I want deep blacks (although on a much smaller screen, but oh well, can't have it all :p) .

XDR seems to have much better blacks, if money is no object :)

You won’t like the artifacts created by dimming zones for Photoshop, especially in areas of high contrast. Until OLED is ready, the Apple Studio Display is perfect.

Wait, what?

Am I going to get arrested and thrown in front of Apple's cloth police if I use something else?

:D :D
Only for the Nano texture you should use this special cloth not to harm the texture. And for the Nano you should get a cloth.

That is also an argument against the Nano. Much too delicate.

I would never go for a 4K display, especially at 27", even if it's cheaper since it's a bad experience on macOS since it doesn't scale well at 4K 27". macOS expects a 110 PPI or 220 PPI display. Anything in between is just a bad experience as explained here:

Mac external displays for designers and developers, part 2 Apr 2022

After going 5K with my Studio Display, which I have for two weeks and like the image quality, 4K 27" is a bad option knowing the drawbacks and I will never consider it. 1080p 2x scaling is too big in my opinion and I prefer 2k scaling, which at 5K it does well, but causes performance issues on 4K due to scaling at 5K and downscaling it. I tend to hold on my displays for a long time, which is worth it for me.

Just came in today! Very happy 💙

Is your Mac Studio underneath your table ? And from where did you get such a table ?
It’s actually a Mac Mini mounted underneath. The standing desk legs and drawer are from a company called Fully. I purchased the solid wood butcher block top separately. Here’s the links:

Received mine yesterday after 10 weeks of waiting.
After 2 hours I issued a refund and ordered a LG 5k.
Though it's build fantastically, I was under the impression you could easily change profiles and had access to the standard ones that are available with any monitor you connect. My bad for not knowing this, I guess..

I prefer to run the 'Generic RGB profile', it gives more saturation, and this wasn't possible on the ASD.
No matter what setting I tried, it all looked washed out compared to my other LG 5k @ Generic RGB.

I bought one day ago.

+ Speakers and mic
+ Webcam
+ Nice colours and brightness
+ Lighter than my previous Dell 24'

- Nano (Not for me. I was wrong)
- Supply cable
- Tilt-adjustable stand (I want to put it down)
