I am VERY happy to finally have my Studio Display connected and in my new space! I need to work on cable management, which will likely include getting a longer Thunderbolt cable, but otherwise love it.

What do you all think?!

Very nice. Love the color of the desk pad. The corners flipping up though are driving me OCD crazy!!!
😀

Also, is the height of that room normal? Seems like a really low ceiling.

My partner and I moved into a 5th wheel travel trailer in June, so my desk is in one of the slides, hence the low ceiling. Our renovations are not complete yet, either

And, yes, the desk pad is driving me nuts. Can't figure out what to do to get it to flatten out and stay that way!

Double sided tape. Works well and then when you are done, use goo gone or some other to clean the adhesive. But stay away from GooF Off unless nothing else will work, that stuff will remove most anything it comes in contact with.

Nice. Can you please share info re: the monitor and laptop stands?

Got my 3 Height/Tilt ASDs today and paired them with my new XDR Pro Display. They combine rather nicely I think. Albeit Apple needs to put in 2m cables minimum. I have longer cables ordered and will arrive tomorrow for a cleaner look.

really nice! do you have different apps on different screens? I've gone to 2*ASDs after having 1*49" and finding it awkward tbh.

I'm always moving apps around...It's just nice having the real estate. It's also nice I don't need to spend a ton of money buying a Mac Pro. I got the best Mac Studio ($8k) but that is still a ton cheaper than a comparable Mac Pro. This will last me 10 years I'm sure.

What's a good brand of cable to buy? I'll be needing longer cables as well. Thanks.

Curious what you do that requires 4 monitors :)

I get my 2m ones from OWC. Great quality. I needed a 3m one so had to go the Apple route for that one. Most use Safari and Mail. lol

How were you able to connect the left most screen with only the bundled cables? That one seems too far away for the silly 1m cable.

I am thinking of adding second ASD, what issues you see with 2 ASD?
I'm thinking about that too. Four issues come to mind.
1. You can't daisy chain them, so you are losing Thunderbolt ports on your MacStudio.
2. You can't easily use another device with the Display as it has only one input port.
3. The bundled cable might be too short, so you might need to buy the 1.8m cable for 149€ or the 3m cable for 179€ if you want the Apple ones.
4. You are paying another 1749€ for a display.

Yes, to make it look nice with longer cables, it ran me another $300. I didn’t care as I already had $20k in the setup.

so it's not in anyway a problem with the ASD, it's purely a problem with me.

I have been using a 49" screen for the longest time and there's no thinking ok I want that app on that screen, that app over here, it's simply tons of space. No bezels in the middle or anything like that. BUT I'm forever moving windows from the far left back into the centre when I want to actively use them so I thought well, perhaps I'll be able to get on with the 2*ASDs.

Also on MacOS with the menu bar, it's a longgggg way to go to get to the file or apple menu when I'm in an app on the lower right of the 49" display.

Also the 49" display is 5120x1440. Great res but not as wonderfully sharp and good looking at the retina displays on ASD, 2 of which would provide me with the same resolution as the 49"

Having 2*ASD solves the menu bar problem in a sense, because each screen has its own menu bar which is naturally closer to the app. So that's good.

But somehow having two screens with that huge bezel in between still feels awkward and I'm spending a lot of time thinking "which one's that app on?" and oh it's on the left I'll move it to the other one and so on.

Like I say, it's no fault of the ASDs which I think are brilliant monitors, it's more me just struggling to get used to it.

Hi Thanks for reply and thoughts.

Certainly I agree with you on bezels 'But somehow having two screens with that huge bezel in between still feels awkward'

I am trying to use personal and work MacBooks same time , so thinking of getting second ASD.
I still need to figure out how to share Magic Keyboard/trackpad with both computers same time. Thinking of USB-C Switch with wired Magic Keyboard /trackpad
