I think that just goes to show that pc and mac reliability are similar since they user the same components in the first place. And the premium they charge for the same hardware is well over what osx and design is worth.

Apple hardware selection sucks and is over priced. (queue endless rounds of "but you get more etc") Face it, it's more expensive.

However, the Apple software is fantastic!!!

I guess the pissing can go both ways. Whie reading all these links i can't help think how I treat my dell as opposed to my company's lenovo. Wonder if corporate or smaller busnesses play into the numbers.

BMWFan - You're a BMW fan.

Let's say you think that BMWs are extremely reliable (and they probably are)
However, let's say there were a few articles on the internet that said BMWs were "BAD" and "UNRELIABLE", would that change anything? would the evidence really be true of all BMWs or just a handful?

I guess this survey doesnt take into account the most important factor that is, how many people have actually had failures compared to the number of people who haven't (sorry if i'm missing something and it actually did - (i'm tired))

is it normal that EVERY PRODUCT you own is defective? I am a relatively new switcher and I have had no problems with my iPhone, Macbook pro, keyboard or mouse. Either you are tinkering with your stuff, you don' take care of them, or your just a snob who wants to smear the product image of apple. Go switch to a winbox im sure you'll find many less problems there

You do realise that majority of hardware innovation is pushed by the increasing gaming requirements for PCs?

I think he meant the engineering innovation of the computer as a whole, not the individual processors and gpus, seeing as how both Mac's and PC's benefit from intel's and nvidia's engineers.

Apple's PR tactics are no different from other companies. Apple has PR flacks trolling the Internet message boards and submitting posts to support or at least neutrallize negative feedback on Apple products. If you find yourself dealing with a poster on a message board who never backs down or always has an answer/comeback that spins a problem in favor of Apple-- you've caught yourself a PR flack. Embarassed (If you want to see some really blatant PR flacks at work, post something negative about your new car on the Edmunds.com user forums, try the Subaru board for example.)

The goal here is to make Apple better. Very Happy This is done by holding Apple accountable for poor quality control in their manufacturing process, and for poor design and engineering.

This is really good news! This should quiet down the PC fans who constantly say you get a better deal on a PC because due to more specs for less money. Consumer Reports KNOWS!!:D

I run a small film company that is filled with Macs. Over the years maybe 15 Macs from MB to Towers and have no problems. Failure rate zero. Films edited: scores. I started with Avids years ago and switched and have no complaints.

Do you know why a lot of mac users use Dell displays instead of Apple. It's because Apple doesn't sell a display with specs they want within their budget.

The same goes with PCs. Everyone has a budget. Even Apple fans. Just because it's cheaper doesn't mean "it doesn't do what you want".

Right and just because it's cheaper doesn't mean "you get a good deal". :p

You must be blind if you think it doesn't happen. Anyway got a job interview tmr. Going to sleep.

Think what doesnt happen? Defects a small percentage of the time? They sure as hell do.

Edit: oh your talking about Apple sending people out to the message boards to be pro apple.

tell that to the mac users who went with the dell display. they will let you know it's an amazing deal since the dell display does everything apple display does and more!

omg bose = expensive, that must mean it's awesome!
.

well certainly there are some apple users where dell displays don't do what they want so they go to the more expensive apple displays. but still a lot of mac users do go to dell since it does do everything they want.

the same can be said of mac vs pc.

I have no doubt that there are people who are daunted by how much macs cost. I can even say that if macs go up in price too much more that I would possibly think about buying a PC. But I would certainly never say that PC's do all that I want, unless their OS gets a lot better.
In short as long as I can afford macs I'll buy macs, because I know that I'll just spend the next two to three years saying to myself I shouldn't have compromised.

And that has to do with apples computers because????

He never said it was always that way 100% of the time. Sorry, but the world isn't black and white. Cheaper isn't always a good deal and more expensive isn't always better.

Wait, what?

Isn't this all the same as religious experiences being proof of God's existence?

A few people having experiences = GOD EXISTS

A few people having problems with their Macs = MACS ARE BAD!

If you experience problems then obviously you're gonna be put off...
The whole point is that fewer people have had problems so consumer reports show up in Apple's favour. (my best attempt at being reasonable)
