iWork was all I needed to hear to get this!!
Being able to make and edit keynote presentations and edit docs on the go is all I wanted out of this device and they are giving it to me. As long as it's 799 or under, I'll be first in line :)

Nitpicky ... but are the iWork icons fugly or what? They just copy and pasted the Mac icons...

This thread reads like a parody.

I can't understand the over the top negativity - - unless you really were expecting a Jesus tablet...

You've read threads on macrumors before, right?

It looks OK - people projected huge expectations onto it and invariably are disappointed. The key thing here is price. Priced well, most people on here would seriously consider buying one. Priced like a MacBook, not so much.

what the hell are you doing apple?

I am a apple fan, i loveeeee apple products. One thing i dont love is CONTROL.

I can understand apple controlling us with the iphone but to create a product which had such huge potential into another iphone ... i just cant believe.

I cant stand the fact that i have to wait for certain software (lets say skype) because apple are waiting to approve them. I waited for ever to use skype on the iphone.

Im just gutted, i was praying for a portable device i could take with me everywhere similar to a mac pro which is more practical then an iphone. If i buy something i want complete control i dont want to have to wait for apple to make a decision, its my money i should do as i please.

This is a worrying path apple are heading down, i will not be buying this device, whats the point, i have an iphone.

But i would pay for a smaller mac pro with touch screen, how awesome would that of been.

such a shame

Hell, everyone knows how you can check emails on your iPhone or surf the web.

Where the hell are the unique iPad features that make it better than any other tablet?

Color? Kindle has no color and limited highlighting for pdf.

Somewhat underwhelming. It will probably sell well enough (people who have lots of cash to burn and want to look cool will eat this up) but I feel like I can do almost everything on my iPhone, and I'm willing to deal with the smaller screen size for the added portability. The cool thing about the iPhone/iPod touch is that you can bust it out anywhere... I don't really see that with the iPad.
I was on a cruise recently and was SHOCKED at the number of netbooks in tow by people. For the majority of them who were doing nothing but web browsing, email, a movie and an eBook or two, this would fit perfectly for their world.

Ah, iWork, now this thing has just started to suck a little less...

Now give me iLife and proper connectability and I'll be a little more pleased with the device.

This thing is going to sell like HOTCAKES and is going to change the book world. Steve has done it again.

Pretty "meh" so far... and the feminine hygiene product name... UGH... and a giant iPhone keyboard ???? I think I'll just buy myself a MacBook Air instead

the question is, how much will Apple charge for iWork for iPad, or will it be like the iLife and Mac thing?

it would be cool if the disc based iwork would work on the ipad.

yea, the lcd thing is bothering me a little even though with the epub format that my kindle doesn't have.

What to do, what do do:confused:

if they add comics, im in lol

hmm

Looks like the original powerbook screen. I expected sexier.

iwork up now, if it also runs a complete photo and video editing rig, I might be interested.

No mention of a camera. Maybe for the next revision, but what a missed opportunity.

I'm still hoping, but meh so far.

iWork for iPhoneOS proabably means that QuickOffice gets banned from the AppStore because of duplicating functionality.

When the Mac mini came out, I immediately turned to my wife and said "I have to have one."

When the MacBooks came out, I immediately turned to my wife and said "I have to have one."

When the iPhone came out, I immediately turned to my wife and said "I have to have one."

When the iPad came out, I immediately turned to my wife and said, "Um... wanna get a Kindle?"
