The iPad looks great, but I am still hoping we get to hear about a software update for the iPhone. My fingers are crossed.

The interface kinda looks like it might handle multitasking. We'll see, though. Hopefully it's a 'one more thing', and ends up in iPhone OS 4.

So it really is just a giant iPod Touch. This is so embarrassing. It can't even function as a stand-alone computer; you will need a main computer to sync it with.

I think it's becoming evident that Steve Jobs only does well when he takes a product category and focuses on usability, creating a revolutionary device as a result. There was no usability problem here for him to solve, and the result is a real iTurkey.

I know, I know. Some people will love it. I am happy for them. But it's going to sell far fewer units than even the MacBook Air, I'll bet, and may even be discontinued, like the Hi-Fi. Guess we'll see.

There's nothing at all wrong with a gigantic iPod touch. For whatever reason though, most people were expecting it to be more than a gigantic iPod touch. I blame the blogs for creating unnecessary hype.

ummm

I dont get it...

I want to make a slideshow? Use my macbook.
I want to play with "brushes"? Use Photoshop CS4 on my macbook.
Want to watch a dvd that I paid for already? Watch it on my macbook.
Want to browse the internet? Use my macbook.

Want to carry a device thats roughly a square foot and requires a bag for safe transport? Use either?

I stillll dont get it.

It all comes down to price I guess.

I was worried this tablet would be too iPhone-ish. But iWork makes me hopeful that this'll be more balanced between iPhone and computer.

iWork makes it a little better. Now I can see it having some sort of functionality over my iPhone.

Has Steve mentioned the weight of the product? Did I miss it?

HUGE disappointment, and I'm not a fanboy or troll. I was legitimately looking forward to this.

It's NOTHING more than a huge iPod Touch, but with a dedicated eBook and iWork function built in.

That's it. That's all they got.

Wow, Apple.

So.... I can either run Keynote off my MBP and control it from my iPod, or I can control it from a 10" pad. So much fail.

"and a special version of Pages for iPad" actually made me grimace.

I doubt word processing's more convenient on that than with an actual keyboard.

This whole product seems so lazy

Also, I have an iBook on my lap already . . .

- Now talking about iWork. Talked to head of iWork team a year ago about creating iPad version, and they got it done. Introducing iWork on iPad.
- Phil Schiller on stage talking about iWork on iPad. Completely new versions of Keynote, Pages, Number. Now demoing Keynote...landscape orientation to accommodate slide views. Moving slides, resizing images, etc.
Also as I thought. :) Good to see editing functionality on the iPad.

...

It's an unnecessarily luxury. I already have my macbook pro and iphone to have everything i need on the go. 13" is not far from 9" so unless this product is really cheap, I see no purpose whatsoever. It's kind of weird imagining typing, if it has a pen and acted as a tablet to do math problems for example, cool, but so far its just redundant.

This thing is awesome, and the keynote isn't even over yet! Why is this such a huge disappointment for everyone? Everything from an iPhone, PLUS iWork, PLUS ebooks, all in a beautiful package with a huge screen...I don't understand you people.

This thing is going to sell like HOTCAKES and is going to change the book world. Steve has done it again.

As much as MR tech enthusiasts are disappointed (they almost always are) . . . .

This is true.

But the price has to be right.
