i hope

i really hope someone there has something to add after this video.....499.99 for a supersized ipod touch... with 16 gigs no expandable memory..these people and their fake product hype can suck it

starting at $499, what is Apple smoking, they must be doing some illegal ****, they're hiding some good weed...

bi*** please, if I wait for summer promotions I get a laptop for $899 plus a free ipod touch with education discount. I can get an iphone for $99 with 3g and still have to pay 30 a month for internet, which I can tether to my laptop. And my macbook has a keyboard, usb ports, firewire, amazing display, backlit key board, ability to have windows xp, vista, 7, mac os x snow leopard, multitasking, flash, and programs like photoshop cs4, garageband, plus it has camera, ichat..So many more things. Ipad is so ridiculous, would make sense for 200, but starting at 500, puh lease..

Funny how everyone was saying it's horrible, but once they saw the price, they wanted one.

$500 is for the base model with ONLY 16GIGS!! If you want the model with 3G, it's almost $200 more, plus some money to ATT every month.

I think I'll save my money and buy two new iPhones in the summer.

i'll just get the cheapest model, that way when I grow weary of it i can just use it to hold down papers on my desk; albeit a costly solution.

$499 - Well done Apple - killer price for the first complete total touch experience

This item just went out of stock for the next 18 months!

I'm in...

I hate the UI, don't think a scaled up iPhone UI cuts it's...

It's like the top bar that just shows the WiFi signal, time and battery level - what a waste of space...

Price yes $499 base is impressive but I am more interested in the next iPhone which I imagine will have an Apple A4 or similar processor.

So it is not a muti-touch wireless keyboard/trackpad replacement, but just a big iPhone - I am SHOCKED!

A lot of people with unrealistic expectations are going to be disappointed.

Except it can't make calls - or at least, not the most handy handset around :D

Oh please........$500 STARTING price for what? What is the compelling reason someone gets this over an iPod touch (truly mobile) or a laptop (truly ergonomic)?

Starbucks Cred.

I expect to see a bunch of them at starbucks in the hands of people who don't make what they cost in a week.

Street Cred is Starbucks Cred with Apple products

16GB is barely any space at all for a netbook/tablet. You add on movies, music, games, photos, it's going to fill up fast! I feel like I barely have anything on my iPhone compared to the average user and I'm already hitting a little over 11GB.

I can definitely see hospital/nurses/doctors using this withOUT 3G.

Just set up wifi and let workers enter/read data via wifi. At $500 each I think that could replace many of the netbooks/tablets in use. Situations where you are entering data not sitting down at a desk but standing/walking/typing at a counter, $500 iPad could be a pretty good device.
