Anyone who buys this deserves to be shot!

64gb, 1gHz, no phone or camera, no mention of radio.
$829 for 3G version AND a data contract!!!
wtf, this is beyond a slap in the face for a big iPod,
jog on, Steve. :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

Radio is a big deal? Really? Are you disappointed that it doesn't have a spark gap transmitter, too?

Actually, one of the chips in the iPhone already has the capability (hardware-wise) to receive FM signals. I would presume the iPad has a similarly-capable chip. I think Apple has bigger projects on the table than FM radio, but suspect that the capability will eventually be exploited.

You missed the part about NO data contract. It's pre-paid, month-to-month. It's a break-through price for data, even if it DID require a contract, which it doesn't. Since it is unlocked, I'd expect other carriers to fall over each other to match the ATT price.

For the people posting nothing but "fail this" and "fail that"... grow up. If you don't like what you see, don't buy it. Simple.

I like this device and will have one. If your expectations weren't met, then design something that does. Otherwise shut up about it.

FFS, people bitch for the sake of bitching. Get over yourselves and move on.

Right, and for months people have been posting on here that the tablet was going to change the world and was some paradigm shift in computing running full OS X 10.6.

No, it's a big iPod with iWork for an extra $30.

Excuse me while I take "the Internet in my hand" down to the pool. It's called a MBP.

Wow that's it for the presentation?! Meh.

I was really expecting some sort of multi-tasking announcement. I was sure when they were showing the normal-sized iPhone apps that we were going to see them independently floating around later or something.

Oh God Its Boring!

its the kindle meets iphone. I cant believe how dull this product is.
The data plan and price may me think apple are getting a lot more greedier than they used to be. The last part made my bones chill.

Bored.

Does nothing new. Nothing. It does laptop stuff worse than a laptop, and isn't small enough to be properly portable. I'd rather have a netbook, to be honest.

Sure, some people will get one, and they'll love it. But magical and revolutionary? It's neither of these things. Very disappointing.

Next January event:

"Well you know, for us iPad currently still is only a hobby!" (Steve Jobs)

It has a keyboard AND iWork.

I don't know about you, but I can't take an iPod to a meeting and take effective notes and make spreadsheets easily. THAT's what I'm basing my argument on.

What about a Macbook Pro (13")?

I mean, yeah I guess you could use the iPad's onscreen keyboard but I'm sure you wouldn't want to carry around an extra keyboard dock for the same purpose.

Then again, maybe you would. *shrug*

No camera??? Are you kidding me???
Apple has some serious nerve not putting a camera on a device that's supposed to "bridge the gap" between MacBooks and iPhones which BOTH have cameras.

Very disappointed.

you're supposed to buy this gizmo and an iphone as well

It has boobies!

One good thing that might come out of the iMaxeyPad.....

A touchscreen iMac will come... especially if the touchscreen iWork is successful.

Still..... How does this thing not have its own OS?

My thoughts exactly. Maybe the next revision close to Christmas time. Until then, no thanks.

Let's look at the key facts here

* iPhone OS
* No multitasking
* 16-64 gb
* not compatible with USB keyboards/mice
* $499 for 16gb and wifi only

This is about as useful as the Macbook Wheel.

I'm sure there will be a way...but how do you "sync" your iWork documents back to your Mac? All the usual iTunes sync stuff was mentioned, but no word on file transfer, or even if MobileMe/iDisk is an option.

Whoooooooooooo, Yeah, Great, nah kidding, its a piece of crap.

Its just a GIANT iPod Touch, ie another rehash of 3 year old technology. What happened to the Apple who used to innovate?

As predicted by me, its a MAJOR FAIL, the only saving grace is the price point although in the UK its gonna still be over-priced.

Jobs, pack your bags and turn the lights off when you leave.

When in the keynote did that happen? I'm pretty sure I just watched a rerun of the iPhone keynote with the app store. I doubt anyone feels threatened by this yet. Especially netbook makers, who still make roughly the same thing at hundreds less.

Agreed. Netbooks can do what the iPad can, the only difference is that Apple has got everyone excited and pumped because it just looks nicer and cleaner (GUI) but the functionality is the same but the iPad cost more. I'm pretty sure there will be some success because of the "low $499 price tag".

(If another company made something like this, a lot of people would saying how **** it was not "what did you expect a tablet to do?".)
