Not that good. It has nothing new and special! Not even a camera?

Im waiting for the new iPod Touch WITH camera! There is seriously nothing amazing about the iPad?!

Im really disappointed.

I like it. I'm not buying one—if for no other reason than I don't have the money, heh. But I like it. It's on par with what I was expecting.

It's not for everyone. I'm not even sure if it's for me, money permitting.

What is astounding, though not surprising is the loud whining about how this thing sucks or blows, or sucks and blows at the same time. If the thing had a built-in hovercraft so you didn't have to hold it people wouldn't be happy.

The Apple-fanboy line gets constantly tossed around as if it's a conversation-ender. Seems more to me that, the Apple-haters are just as, if not more loud.

The price is right and I can see School's begging for these to eliminate books to save the kids backs.
Fine if they don't use my TAX money to buy them.
But a Student could carry every book on one tablet, no more computer labs ETC ETC.

I think it is OK but nothing mind blowing.

Ergonomic Disaster

Has anyone noticed all the creepy pictures they used showing everybody slouching in chairs to try to use this? Because this is not a thumb-type device, think about the practical reality of using this as a "casual" device. You sit in a regular chair or recliner (as I am now) with your legs straight out. How do you plan to hold this thing? With an iPhone/iPod, you can easily hold with one hand and use. With this device, it is so big that you will not be able to use it comfortably in a chair without trying to prop your legs up.

Think about it in bed. I use the iPhone in bed most nights to read RSS feeds and watch some TV shows. I am honestly trying to think how I would hold this.

How about casual use in the kitchen? You basically will have to be standing over this thing to type as it slides across the counter. Maybe they should have considered rubber backing to help prevent this.

I agree that the keyboard/dock looks pretty cool. But, for a casual device - are you really going to pop out your keyboard and dock to use?

As I said in an earlier post, i see this as a niche device. I think it is too expensive for casual users in any big numbers. Remember - millions of us have already invested in an iPhone or iPod and also already have a laptop or PC. Apple is assuming that people will shell out another $500+ to add this into a very narrow usage pattern. I am sorry - I do not see it.

No camera is a huge missed opportunity. $130 plus a monthly fee for 3G is a joke.

All in all this thing is just an iPod Touch. Certainly not revolutionary in the least.

Disappointed.

Not gonna buy one. No camera, no stylus to take notes on the iPad. Top 2 things I was looking for : iChat and takings notes in class (like drawing pictures in class)

It's the Apple way, you know. They already have these in the wings, having to hold back some things for upcoming versions (i.e. new sales). Seemed the camera was a no brainer, though. Surprised, yup.

No camera??? Are you kidding me???
Apple has some serious nerve not putting a camera on a device that's supposed to "bridge the gap" between MacBooks and iPhones which BOTH have cameras.

Very disappointed.

It will be in the NEXT version. So that ones who bought the 1st Gen iPad will buy another iPad after just one year. Don't you get it?

Going by the number of disappointed enthusiasts here, I suspect Apple to get quite a bit of negative feedback on this annoucement from a number of media sites and broadcasts.

apple is getting lazy is this is the best they can come up with to revolutionize the Laptop Tablet. like everyone has said this is a iPod Touch with a bigger screen, and i don't know about you guys but i seriously question how well the input method will work. a soft keyboard is great on small devices but i for sure don't want to be typing with 1 finger on any type of a tablet/laptop.

this reminds me of the the high school student who procrastinated on his science project all semester and then the night before dug up an old project, changes some pictures and words around and then tried to pass it off as something new

Wow, I didn't think Apple could underwhelm me more then that last iPod presentation when the Touch got the camera ripped out of it at the last minute, but I was wrong.

This is their game changer???
How is this some new tech?

Looks like a big iPhone to me?

Where is...

The camera(s)
A true e-ink/paper mode
Stylus for taking notes or marking up books
external storage support
wireless synching
oled screen

Again, Apple doesn't give you what you want, they give you what they tell you to want.

And 64GB to start? Really? Is this 2009? Lemme check my calendar.

I have no need for this device. It's like a laptop without a cover. If it had a nice 6 inch screen and fit in my pocket, I might be interested. If I want something this big, I'll just get a standard notebook PC. If you need a case to carry the dumb thing around, it may as well have a cover IMHO.

After seeing this they really should have named it the iPud! Big Apple fail as far as I'm concerned.

OMG - FAIL.

Oh wait no, this is perfect. Now I don't need to bring my laptop into the bathroom anymore.

Really bummed that it is over. Wanted so much more. There is no way I'd buy the iPad. A camera+stylus would have helped it to me. I like the idea though.
