Well not as bad as I thought it would be, but I still don't get the point. Trying to sell Siri? Why?

I could see this making sense as a possible rebranding attempt when HomePod/iOS 11 are out, but this is just the same things siri has been able to do for the past 3 years...

It's strange- I was hoping for something really clever like the spot they made for the last keynote about the appocalypse, wich I found absolutely hilarious and self ironic. But this... it would've made sense as an ad for the home pod, but why now?

Apple has now become the company that just does stuff... like Microsoft under Ballmer.

There is no reason for it, it makes no sense, but we have too much money laying around so let's give it all to marketing and let them do stuff for no reason and without any aim.

STEVE SAID IT BEST (starts at 00:19)

I understand what you're trying to say but Apple is far from a monopoly like IBM and Xerox were. Apple has a ton of money, but there is still much in the way of improvement and new product that can be rolled out.

The "other side of the coin" as you put it, contains untruthes: "You get used to using pro-software and then Apple ditches it all" (last time I checked FCP X, Logic Pro, Motion, etc were still going, even if Aperture is gone).
So there was no uproar when Apple changed those software that you mention? They ditched the app and then release a half arsed version?
And if Apple software is so great, tell me how to remove a portion of a clip in iMovie to free up disk space, - Apple removed that feature.
Also sweeping statements like "Want to live outside the walled garden too? No luck, Apple is not compatible" are difficult to discuss. I know plenty of people with Windows PCs and iOS devices.
So tell me how I sync my iPad with both my Laptop and Desktop, ie music from one and books from the other? I could go on...
What about the iMessage compatability that Apple said they were going to open up?
Just because I have an iOS device and windows doesn't mean it is not without its issues.

Plus "You want developers to have the power to add any features you would like? No luck, developers are hamstrung by Apples rules." - Well, where are all the amazingly popular Android apps which just aren't possible on iOS? There aren't any. All the popular apps like Instagram, Snapchat, etc started on iOS and were ported to Android, taking no advantage of Android's open nature.

  • Remind me when keyboards were added to iOS
  • What about the Apple on iOS that changed the tint to yellow, Apple canned the app.
  • Apple cans a lot of apps that they don't want, changing the rules all the time.
  • Can you show me an app that records the screen on iOS for making tutorials?
  • Can I add a live wallpaper to my iOS screen?
  • Can I add a widget to my iOS screen?

Come to think if it, even if you stay within the walled garden you are bound by Apples restrictions.

You know it's Hollywood magic when someone can get all of that functionality out of Siri without having to talk very loudly and very slowly. ;)

As if Steve Jobs’ Apple never spent money on advertising.
You may have taken that the wrong way, I would be spending too! I had a dig against Tim's record high DC Lobby spending though, not sure how political Steve was, I'll ask Eve at the next horse show.

I'm surprised somewhere in that video there wasn't a voice over of Jony Ive saying "The Rock's head is unapologetically round, it's been meticulously crafted to form a perfectly smooth surface."
I can hear him now.

You know Apple, maybe your money was better spent in actual "R&D" for Siri. This high profile commercial is just proof that you know Siri is losing ground to Alexa. Now, all you're trying to market is the feelz.

Then... why are you here? Just to disagree with all their decisions?

Is that from a screen grab?
