It's different. 1. Budget is higher. 2. It's advertised for general public consumption vs WWDC had no advertising + it's meant for the developer audience. 3. It's a self contained story line instead of part of an event.
1. Wrong. Try watching this and then the WWDC video with Bill Hader or this year's - both were bigger in budget, scale and cast. I was actually expecting much more explosions from this Rock x Siri video.
2. Wrong. Both videos appear on Apple's Youtube channel so same audience.
3. It's a commercial for Siri. All their videos are self contained just like all commercials are self contained.

Seriously, if only these tech blogs didn't use the word 'movie', there wouldn't be 400 comments on this story. Now everyone has to backpedal because god forbid Apple actually tries to have a little fun without everyone mocking them for losing their style and ignorant "Steve would never have done this" declarations.

Everyone is a marketing expert in this forum. Next time my company wants to spend money on advertisement I will run it thru you guys before just to know if I'm using my resources as you think is good.
Ah, some free advice then.
Hire Kim Khardasian (or someone of her mental ability and bra size) and let her struggle for 15 minutes with your whatever product. Then come in, smile irresistably, and show how it just works.
It will make ordinary people feel sooooo good about it.

Apple has now become the company that just does stuff... like Microsoft under Ballmer.

There is no reason for it, it makes no sense, but we have too much money laying around so let's give it all to marketing and let them do stuff for no reason and without any aim.

STEVE SAID IT BEST (starts at 00:19)

OMG. THIS IS 100%.

Thank you for posting this.

This will always be an interesting video to watch just because it's him, but what makes you agree with his sentiment that Apple has forgotten what it takes to make great products? They're the richest company in the world with some of the highest rated products. Unless I'm missing something?

That's what you got from the video? Did you have it muted? Or ...

You think at least Siri would respond about The Rock, or Wayne Johnson. Nothing. Fail!

Sure?
My apprehension is that after this concluding parody, Apple would kill it and license Google Voice (or Echo, Alexa for that matter)
The real world works a lot differently from the vacuum of the Internet tech blogs. For every person you find that says Google or Alexa is better, I can find 5 people that say Siri is better. They all have their pros and cons but Siri has the mind share right now. Now all Siri needs is more Android switchers. Hence, this commercial.

I am not sure why all the negativity around this ad. I think it is clever, fun, funny and pure entertaining. It is a commercial and it is something different from Apple. Good for them!! People are odd and I am not sure what those negative posters are looking for. ?? Baffled... If you like Siri or not... I think this is a great and entertaining marketing piece. Kudos to Apple!!

It has a super bowl ad feel to it BTW.

I don't know what vacuum you mean, just counting for the least worse...

Pretty sure they won't actually be using Siri for this. Would be a disaster of typos, misunderstood questions, lame answers, and bad directions.

Looking at his reminders, he didn't complete all the list.

I really wish they would spend their money and time on things I actually want to buy... like an iPad Mini5 / Pro, a convertible MacBook, Mac Mini updates and a Mac tower that slots in between the Mini and Pro.

Because the computer R&D department also does marketing and hires actors? Seriously, I find these comments ridiculous. A company can do more than one thing, that is what departments are for.

Also, Tim Cook is not doing EVERY SINGLE THING in the company.

Apple: the company that undoubtedly is dooming itself with every move it makes since 1976. Obviously this ad will put the final nail in the coffin... as all the other "final nails" did before.

XD

The only difference is that the prior predictions were made by non-users of Apple’s products, whereas today, it’s primarily longtime users who fear the worst. Their concerns aren’t without merit. Standout products/brands have ruined their reputations before. Not from irrelevance, but from catering to the temporary fads and unsophisticated tastes of the collective populace. Sure, Apple will continue to thrive, but it won’t be able to justify its reputation as a premium/exclusive brand and charge accordingly. It will become one of the unsophisticated brands that Jobs dissed.

Hilarious. Still laughing at all the people who obviously have not watched it thinking it is a full film and comparing it to Netflix. LOL.

Oh good God it's worst then I thought, what a load of utter ********, I couldn't watch it all got fed up with 'hey siri' every 6 seconds...

No, it isn't "worse than you thought." It's exactly as "bad" as you convinced yourself it would be before you even saw it. You were never going to think it was good.

Talked about it this morning with some normal people (aka, people don't hang out on Apple forums) and they thought it was fun.

I knew everyone here would hate it.

I got here late too. I think what happened is the "short film" was posted after the article and commenters assumed Apple was actually making a Rock x Siri feature film. This highlights how reactionary people are on this forum.
