I'm not in the market for new hardware this year, but if iLife '11 was at a good price I would probably pick that up. If only they'd update iWeb...

I used to get excited about this, but I get corporate discount which roughly equates to the same sort of savings (around 6% I think).

Apple has a cast-iron hold over prices, so if it's the only time you can get a discount for something that you were planning on buying anyway it's worth it (even if you only save a fiver!).

However, it's often easier to get better discounts by other methods, or through other retailers, than directly through Apple.

Case in point: I managed to get a 50% discount on an 64GB iPod Touch, through a cash back website. - Ok it's extra hassle, and isn't without risk but it's a far greater discount than we'll ever see through Apple's Black Friday sale.

Just got this in my email for those wanting an iPad. Although these deals go in about 5 seconds, it may be worth a shot.

Oops. Guess I linked a logged in account.

Any chance iLife 11 will get that $30 discount on Black Firday? I can't remember if they discount iLife suites on Black Friday.
If only they had posted a link to previous sales in the original news article, eh? ;)

I don't know what $30 discount you're talking about, though; iLife has been discounted only once on Black Friday before, and it was $11 off (= $68). Of course, now iLife costs $30 less than it did before in the first place, so who knows--plus, they haven't discounted it lately, anyway.

You register with Borders online, and then you have to attach a CC to your account to get these. They do them daily, and sometimes multiple offers in a day. They are usually something crazy like this.

Does anyone knows if an EDU discount would apply to a discounted product on BF?

Usually the EDU discount stands alone - they don't double up.

I'm a EDU customer as well, so I'm somewhat annoyed they don't EDU discount ipods or or ilife anymore.

Many of the 3rd party online retailers will have much better BF deals than Apple. I suggest that nobody buys from Apple's online store without checking other retailers first, unless they need to buy something BTO. Plus, they've never given deals on all of their products so this limits your buying power.

only idiots are buying computers and electronics during the holiday season

sandy bridge is coming in less than 2 months
new ipad is coming early next year
iphone is almost 6 months into its cycle

CES is the second week of January and all the new TV's will be shown off with a lot of them available soon after the show ends.

It has not in years past. It was a "take whichever discount is greater" thing. :( You could get the other offers though, ie free printers, EDU discount on AppleCare if you qualified, etc.

Steve could also hand deliver it to you. :p

That would be cool I would really like to meet him. ;-) I know this is only a pipe dream ($300 iPad) but that's what I think is a fair price for what you get. Although I do really want it I am just waiting for some kind of decent price drop as $500 plus tax is just to much money.

Also, if I register, will it still me eligible for me? I don't know how it works.

I would assume so, it's a public page so I'd think if you registered you would be good. The other day they did a 25 dollar Starbucks Card for 10 bucks. They run the gamut on deals all over the board, but like I say, they go very fast. I equate it to someone sniping on eBay. :)

Correction people who don't care about being on the bleeding edge of technology buy during holiday season and that iPhone is still a ways off!

At brand new prices, too. I bought a discontinued model TV two Christmases ago. I haven't seen a price matching what I paid until just recently.

Forgive me for disagreeing that anyone who doesn't know what the heck "sandy bridge" is makes them an idiot.

And 6 months? Wow - so I should go without a phone for 6 months just to have to wait another 3 to 4 months for the iPhone 5 to be available to those that don't wish to line up outside a store all night?

In my opinion, an idiot is someone who goes without something just to wait indefinitely for the latest and greatest version. A smart consumer is one who recognizes when they actually need something and buys it then, and *gasp* actually gets use out of it while others are busy waiting for the next version.

Well, as long as you think it's fair.

Why insult people by calling them idiots?

As with all Apple's Black Fridays it will just be something like .50 off any purchase or a discount on software that no one has heard of.
