Will this be the day I finally migrate over from PC to Mac?
Wanting to pull the trigger on a Mac Mini 2.66GHz
Nonetheless - I am so glad in this day and age I can shop online with a few clicks from my easy chair instead of dealing with crowded parking lots and crowded malls

$30 off of iWork isn't too shabby. A little surprising at the substantial discount on that, given the discount on everything else.

I would love a Magic Mouse but only $5 off is a little on the disappointing side. (Though I will still most likely buy one if discounted again this year)

If Apple really wanted to get some attention this Black Friday, I agree with others on here... knock the iPad down to $398 or even $299. This will help clear the stock out so that in 4 months when the new one is announced everyone will end up buying that one too.

Hell for $299 I would pick up two of them!

Correction people who don't care about being on the bleeding edge of technology buy during holiday season and that iPhone is still a ways off!

the 3G got some nice updates with new iOS versions, but lately apple has been stingy with new features for old iphones so i wouldn't buy an iphone unless it was the start of the cycle.

i bought my wife the 3G in february, big mistake

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7)

A cent off every thing in the apple store!!! Celebrate!!!!

See thats different did you buy her the 3G or 3Gs I'd you bought her the 3G that phone was already on it's way out....for example I wouldn't go buy a 3GS now because it won't be supported next go around but ip4, current MacBooks , and presumably iPad will !

It will be interesting to see how fast those things go Friday.

I've also noticed how much social media buzz Apple - along with all the other major Black Friday retailers - has created and it just keeps increasing. These sites allow you to monitor all the online chatter regarding Black Friday and specific hot items:

public.contextmine.com/blackfriday.html
public.contextmine.com/blackfridaybrands.html

It's pretty cool as it gives you a bit more insight into consumer behavior leading up to this wild day of shopping.

Well it IS iWork 09. It's 2 years old now. It's time for Apple to update it and I'm sure we'll will some update soon so they are most likely clearing it out.

The Best Buy I worked overnights at during the holiday season last year had about $50 off iPods on Black Friday. They thought it would be easier and a good idea to leave the iPod case unlocked on Friday. Big whoops there.

About 15 iPod Classics and 20 iPod Touches gone later, they decided it would be smarter to lock the case again.

Why would they need to clear out stock 4 months in advance when it's still selling like hotcakes?

I'd buy a $299 iPad too, but that's not the point.

...

This is a great offer for the consumer and on a day which, quite frankly, most manufacturers ignore and most retailers get killed on just to bring people through the door. I'd say this is a good middle ground.

Um, do you understand why it's called black Friday? Retailers aren't getting killed they are making PROFIT - hence why the day is called 'black' Friday vs. 'red' Friday.

Apparently the kool-aid Steve gave you is spiked.

Not if people only buy the door busters. Margins for retailers are severely cut this day in order to make up for it in volume. If I walk in and buy two hugely discounted ad items, I just cost them $ unless I bought, for example, the 40 dollar Belkin printer cable, the 100 dollar Monster surge protector, and their warranty to go with the machine, in this case a computer for example.

I understand it perfectly thanks.

they offer BS discounts, you can do better by shopping in the education store all year long!

After this new alliance with the News Corp, I don't even want to support anything Jobs does, what an greedy ass******!

Nowhere did I say you circumvented anything specifically, the only time I said you was with regard to finding it elsewhere for less, so I used Craigslist as a general term. I will edit that post for you to make you happy.

I liken this to the people who cried about the Xserve being discontinued and "oh what options do we have now" yet were never and would never be Xserve customers by their own admission. :rolleyes

We all bow to you, master. I feel so inferior to you, I'm not sure why I am even alive. If I could only spend one day in your shadow, life would be so fulfilling.

Of course people have opinions, just because they were not prospective customers means nothing in relation to the validity of their opinion. I have never been waterboarded, but I certainly have an opinion on it.

bought a 3G a few months before the 3GS came out. warned my wife that a new iphone was coming in June.

i got the 3GS on pre-order and it came the day of release and she tried to trade. no deal. i gave her fair warning, a new iphone every June

so far the best deal i've seen is a x-box 360 kinect at toys r us. steam and the app store also have nice sales during december

Anyone who thinks Apple will swoop in and give everything away for free is sorely mistaken. Lets not forget, when the world crashed, Apple lowered their price slightly but still managed to move more volume. This past quarter, they did it again. If people are willing to pay full price every other day of the year, anything more than a modest discount is just leaving $$$ on the table.

It's not a matter of opinion, it is a matter of fact. If that many people that cried and whined about it were customers, it would never have happened. They didn't sell enough to make a good business case to keep them around. Period.
