And who can tell you if the iphone doesn’t detect benchmark apps as benchmark apps and run these at full speed? VW did the same for improved emissions values. Would better wait for real life apps like the upcoming AAA games to see performance and heat development. Why on earth would you even need the YouTube videos?
You know you can run benchmarks yourself?
It’s simple, run a geekbench test two hours before installing the update, and run it again about two hours after the update has installed.
If the numbers are basically the same, then clearly they’re telling the truth.
If I’m not mistaken, people have already ran these benchmarks on the latest 17.1 beta and there’s no throttling
3rd Party OEMs better improve their power management codeSo that will be update number 3 then. Apple needs to sort it's testing out. This operating system was released to the public 12 days ago and we are about to see our third software update. For the premium paid on these products that's not acceptable.

How is it a hardware malfunction when many people have not had an issue? It’ll just be a rogue process using power, just like they said. It’ll be completely evident if they throttle the CPU, we can all measure that.let me guess they gonna throttle the speeds down and claim its fix, a software update cannot fix a hardware malfunction
Oh ok. Wasn’t sure that it really turned out to a broken camera after it happened… sad to hear this.Yeah, they tweaked the software to stop it from happening but once you had it you had a defective phone. It happened to me and that’s why I decided to wait this year. My iPhone 14 Pro had to be replaced because the camera didn’t work as intended according to apple.
Proper throttleing is totally fine and needed for a smartphone. Every phone throttles, the question is when and how heavily.let me guess they gonna throttle the speeds down and claim its fix, a software update cannot fix a hardware malfunction
My 13 Pro and 14 Pro did the same.....it's not anything new.Kindly, **** off. My brand new $1200 phone shouldn’t drain 25% over the course of a 45 minute call, while being uncomfortable to hold.
There are several new chips involved (cpu and cellular) and a new hardware design both of which didn’t see extensive in the wild testing. To be fair - iOS 17 has been in beta for quite some time and I don't remember any reports with overheating issues...
So - it may be quite hard to find out these bugs when even developer and public beta users would not experience them. (i.e. the bug is limited to the iPhone 15 Pro lineup, so quite limited options to test all scenarios for Apple)

Apple already claimed that the SoC won’t get throttled more with the update. People will test this.
Is it just me or does the phone over heat while on a call more than any other time?
Apple plans to release an iOS 17 update to address a bug that may contribute to the reported iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max overheating issue, according to a statement the company shared today with MacRumors and Forbes reporter David Phelan.

Apple also says some recent updates to third-party apps have overloaded the system and contributed to the overheating issue. The report notes that some of these apps include Instagram, Uber, and the racing game Asphalt 9: Legends, and Apple is working with the developers of these apps to address the issue. The report adds that Instagram already introduced a fix as part of an update to the app released on Wednesday.
Apple says iPhone 15 Pro models may run warmer than expected during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device due to increased background activity. This is standard behavior for new iPhones and only a temporary condition.
Apple's statement:The bug should be fixed with iOS 17.1, which is currently in beta and is expected to be released in late October. It's quite possible that Apple might also make a bug fix available sooner with a smaller software update, such as iOS 17.0.3.
According to the report, Apple will not be reducing the performance of the A17 Pro chip as part of the temperature-related bug fix. Apple also said the issue is not a safety risk and will not impact the long-term performance of affected iPhones.
Apple said the iPhone 15 Pro's titanium frame and aluminum substructure do not contribute to the overheating issue, ruling out a hardware problem.
Not all iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max users have experienced overheating, and it's unclear how many customers are affected by the issue overall, but it should be resolved soon.

True story: both my mum and I have iPhones. Over iMessage I mentioned my neighbor whose name is Epson. Mum replied “that’s a printer”. Keep in mind this is over “encrypted iMessage” and neither of us backup our iMessages in iCloud. Later that same day I had an ad on Facebook for Epson printers. I did not say his name out loud. Only over iMessage. We both immediately decided it’s time to use Signal as our primary means of communicating. We’ve both had it for a while now, but now it’s our primary means of communication after that. Privacy > convenience.Just access your Facebook and Instagram account via Safari and delete the apps and this will go away.
Meta is probably rifling through all your photos and data running recognition scans and it heats up the CPU.![]()
well wait and see if throttling happens, anyway just did Geekbench right now with my one year old iPhone 14 Pro max iOS 17.1 beta with increased results both single core and multicore, didn't see this coming. Thanks Apple.I wonder if the update will throttle the phone, making it slower. It will be interesting to see the speed tests.
All in all this not a good launch for the 15 series.
