There is no 15% delta and no battery gains. The only gain you will see is in the IGP (integrated graphics). The CPU share the exact same micro code and architecture as Skylake. It has the exact same IPC, so the only difference is a slightly optimised production node going from what Intel is calling 14nm to 14nm+. This gives you 100MHz higher cpu clock speeds at the same TDP. That's it.

There's a reason why a Intel Core i7-6700K and Intel Core i7-7700K at the same clock speeds gives more or less identical performance. It's because KabyLake is just Skylake rev2.0 and nothing more. But people keep getting fooled by the naming and tells themselves that it has to be better because it's newer and got a new name...
Marketing department wins!

more dongles please!!!! why do we need 4 USBC port? make it 2 so people can buy usbc dongle for more usbc

USB-C is so 2016. I hope Apple brings us a brand new port so we can be sure our 2017 computers are the most up to date possible. I can't wait to buy a whole new set of dongles. Collecting them is more fun than playing Pokemon.

??? No reason... EXCEPT for the dual USB, Thunderbolt, SD Card slot and Magsafe!!!!!!!!! It's the only portable business laptop that you don't need a bunch of dongles for.

That's a good point. A couple of years ago, who would have thought Apple would gimp their "high end" stuff so much that the Air would be the most capable mac laptop.

Ok, a Keynote update sounds very interesting and leads me to believe one of two things might happen:

- Lowered entry level price for MacBook and/or MacBook Pro.
- (Less likely) Significant changes to either lineup.

Of course, it could be just spec bumps and nothing more, but then I expect nothing more than updated models available in the Online Store after it reopens after the event, I.e no announcement.

Very exciting either way, finally some MAC RUMORS!

Does the cpu for 13" and 15" MBP are even out?

It hasn't been that many years since Apple would get the first batches of new Intel chips so if you wanted a non-Mac you'd have to wait.

It's sad people are already so used to the current state of affairs where they have to wait until Intel puts their old stuff in the metaphorical bargain bin before Apple will use them.

I don't think we're going to see lowered prices for Macbook / MacBook Pro

Apple's recent financial release has shown a siginficant uptick on revenues in the Mac lineup despite insignificant change in volume. This is indicative that Apple's revenues (in the computer industry) are tied currently to price points and not movement volume. Dropping prices alone might spur more sales, but the current modus operandi of Apple is increase prices to account for decreasing / stable volume.

The only way I'd consider buying the new Macbook Pro would be the addition of at least two regular USB ports.

Probably not going to happen of course as that would be a significant hardware change, and perhaps even worse, admission of a mistake.

As someone who purchased a tMBP, It would hurt/annoy me a lot more if MagSafe makes a comeback. (Note: I expect them to bring back Magsafe)

Regarding MacBook Air...

Make the current 12" MacBook the "Consumer" Mac notebook (maybe have a 11" version?) And do away with the Air altogether. IMHO

Magsafe is number 2 on my wish list. Bringing back a keyboard with more travel is number 1.

I'm getting worn out from having my hopes built up and crushed, but I've got my fingers crossed for a minor refresh to the 2015 with modern parts.

I just bought a touch bar in Jan. LOL! This would be really annoying.

If they bring out a 15" without touch bar but with Touch ID. I will be even more annoyed.

I just bought mine last week. At least it is a custom config with faster processor, graphics card and larger SSD.

If it is just Kaby Lake, the 12" MacBook still won't support TB3. They would need another chip set.

I think this is an argument for keeping the MBA for one more cycle. I don't see Apple dumping the MBA until every Mac portable can be equipped with TB3.

If they mea culpa and go back to previous design (USB A, Mag Safe, standard function key + Touch ID, Scissor Keys), I would laugh so hard. There are a bunch of cultists defending the 2016 models like their lives depend on it. I wonder how they are gonna react. Better ebay it while you can.

I for one am very happy about this news.
Hopefully the iGPU will be able to handle the screens better and also the dGPU in the 15" gets a nice boost.

Instant purchase for me and perfect timing.

MacBook Pro please. I’ll get over the touch bar, but wishes:
1. Bring back MagSafe (functional)
2. Light up the Apple logo on the case again (decorative)
3. More battery life

While I really don't think that would happen, I wouldn't hate it if it did

Wow I just pulled the trigger on a maxed out 13" a month ago... Talk about a slap in the face.

You make a very good point. We'll see!

Maybe the sudden increase in 2015 model sales has us all confused. The 2016 MBPRO might not get an update, but possible that the 2015 gets a silent refresh so that there's "options"

I really REALLY wish we could see a breakdown of real volume of sales of each unit. I bet you'd find that it's still Air > 2015 Pro > MacBook > 2016 Pro.

Yeah, I know this is purely cosmetic and people don't really care but the shiny apple logo on the back is nowhere as close to as attractive as the illuminated logo.

In fact, if that logo was on the iPads or iPhone, id be happy.
