I just bought a touch bar in Jan. LOL! This would be really annoying.

If they bring out a 15" without touch bar but with Touch ID. I will be even more annoyed.
MacRumors: "Update the Macs Apple and stop it with the carpool karaoke/tv stuff!"

Also MacRumors: "I just bought a MacBook Apple, wait a little longer before updating your products!"

Really hope the possible Air update is a major update - retina & small bezels, smaller body footprint, same # of ports. THAT would be a dream machine

Oh and so sorry for the folks who bought Gen 1 of the new MBP! That sucks.

Dear Apple,
When you finally release the new iMac please don't plan to brag on how thin it is; we don't care...we'd rather have power than thinness with our desktops. Make it powerful and functional and brag on that.

And upgradeable.

After waiting so long for a new iMac and finally getting impatient enough to pull the trigger on the 5K iMac from 2015 about a month ago, I'm actually relieved no new iMac would be announced. :p

Yep.... good point. Personally, I'd like to see a Mac Mini that's the same size as the current AppleTV. That seems perfectly reasonable, given what's been done with the Intel NUC and its copy-cats made by HP and others.

I don't know what this new Macbook Pro revision will bring, but like you, I'm expecting an option for 32GB of RAM on it for sure. I also think what it *needs* (but may not get) is some sort of revision so its 3D graphics card can run at full speed, vs. throttling it down due to overheating concerns in the small space. Even if it means using a bigger, louder cooling fan or fans? I'm ok with that on a "Pro" machine where graphics speed is critically important and a long-standing weak sport for Mac portables.

Let's face it, they're not going completely redesign the MacBook Pro once again. I think we can say goodbye to MagSafe, USB-A, the F keys, and the glowing Apple logo. They will probably upgrade the CPUs and the RAM (32GB option), and very little else. If we're really lucky, they might bring back the SD card slot (but unlikely), or make all USB-C connections the same speed. The Air is really outdated now, so they could drop it or redesign it. But if they redesigned it, it would be the same as the MacBook. It's more likely that they reduce the starting price of the MacBook. I think the Mac Mini needs the most work, a redesign from scratch, to make them as small and fast as the Intel NUCs.

I was hoping for Mac Pro and iMac.
Is it just me or I don't recall hardware product launches during a WWDC Keynote ( ? ).
Anyway, I hope Apple learned from their mistakes and start to cater real computers instead of fancy toys at a ridiculously high price tag. They should be happy with 40% profit. Come on, Apple. Don't exploit your users.

That's the cheapest current Macbook. They could decide to sell the older 2016 256GB m3 near the $999 price, similar to what they did with the iPhone 5s. I can't imagine them keeping the MacBook air around much longer, it will eventually cost them more to.

I can't imagine it either. Especially considering how outdated it is.

I'm talking about the fact it's stll using Thunderbolt 2, when they've moved to USB-C / thunderbolt 3 already on their other laptops.
That they're still shipping a subpar TN based low resolution display when everyone else at this price point are including at least a basic IPS 1080p.

the overall size / dimensions, CPU type and configuration isn't bad. But I see it easier to make a cheaper MacBook to replace the Macbook Air than it is to upgrade the MacBook air.

I just don't see them doing either. I see them keeping the Air around with a small spec bump in the meantime, While trying to upset users to either the Macbook or the MBP

Didn't Apple co-develop TB with Intel? I believe Apple would have the technical prowess and licensing rights to incorporate TB into AMD APUs. I could see Apple working with AMD to develop such a system.

Also, AMD has cross-licensing agreements with Intel for CPUs and GPUs.

It doesn't make any sense for Apple to go for AMD. First off, AMD currently offer inferior IPC and single-threaded performance. As Apple is mostly selling notebooks, they want efficiency and not just throw additional cores to gain additional power.

AMD Ryzen is awesome as it provides much needed competition in the market. Intel has been resting on their laurels for way too long. But for the mobile/notebook market they don't offer anything superior to Intel, so for Apple to go for AMD would only be about economics so they could get even higher margins on the Mac's. Not something that is good for us consumers.

We do not want or need additional cores on systems like these, the only Mac where it would make sense to go for AMD is in the Mac Pro is Apple would opt for the AMD Threadripper aka AMD Ryzen HEDT models that will be revealed this summer. But having Intel on the notebooks, and AMD on the Mac Pro won't happen.

You also have to remember that Apple is tailoring and optimising macOS much more closely with it's hardware compared to Windows. Apple is currently utilising instructions and extensions like AVX and the Ryzen CPU's only supports AVX 128-bit, while Intel supports AVX 256-bit, and will be supporting AVX 512-bit with their upcoming Skylake-X and Coffee Lake line-up of CPU's that will arrive this summer (Skylake-X) and this autumn (Coffee Lake).

Fixed that for you. ;)

Though I would be surprised they would update the MacBook Pro twice in 6 months. What is the world coming to?!
I'll look for actual evidence to back this up, but I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be the first time. If nothing else, they've done it plenty of times with iPods and iPads.

After arguing against them to no avail, I hope these rumors really show those people that said "There won't be hardware at WWDC because it's a software event"... I won't say 'I told you so' now, because you'll say "It's just a rumor", I'll wait until after the event.

Their plan was ALWAYS to discontinue the MacBook Air as the new MB and MBPs would replace it, so the fact they're considering upgrading it is a surprise to me, although many people would love to see an update. It is not only the most affordable but also the best for connectivity (in terms of current models, I know the old MBPs are better).

I also think we could see the price decrease for all models earlier than expected if they are releasing new MBPs at WWDC.

Now that they've realised the Touch Bar isn't really a unique 'Pro' feature that all buyers want, it makes me hope that they'll make a 12" MacBook with Touch Bar, as that is more suited towards people that would like a Touch Bar. But I don't think that will happen, I just really want it to.

Apple was part of the consultations working with Intel, But the spec is 100% owned by intel. Any licensing has to be done via Intel. Apple themselves still need to license the TB tech from Intel to use it.

Currently (and yes, this can very well change) AMD is not a licensee of thunderbolt. (no ryzen product is currently available with integrated Thunderbolt).

Don't see it happening yet. Rumor mill too quiet. Product line doing great. Why push it when you don't have to? Keep it in pipeline to maximize profits.

Are we suppose to believe that Apple will announce a Siri speaker, iPad Pro 10.5" AND an update to MacBooks at WWDC? an event that for the last 3 years they have used to show off software only!
My thoughts exactly- everyone is falling over each other every year with all these rumors every time and.... surprise none of it shows up!

Probably not. Going AMD for CPU would prevent them from also going Thunderbolt 3 since AMD currently doesn't license the thunderbolt tech, which currently requires an Intel CPU

Unless Apple walks back on their "Thunderbolt 3 or nothing" "future"... which I don't think they will.

Could you imagine buying Thunderbolt 3 based devices that only work on your Macbook Pro 2016, but literally no other Apple computer? I couldn't imagine Apple doing that.
I've tried telling them, yet the 'Apple might go with Ryzen' posts remain.

These devices have always been out of my price range and now they're waayyyyy out. Over 2,000 dollars for a 2.7 GHz processor? Come on...

Not to worry! I'll sell you my P4 3.4GHz for only $100. More GHz always means more power, remember.
