I've tried telling them, yet the 'Apple might go with Ryzen' posts remain.

it will never stop. there are still lots of people claiming apple will replace x86 CPU's with their own ARM based solutions in every computer because <Reasons why Apple is #1>

actual technological / business reasons be damned to them, they just want to believe!

I was hoping for Mac Pro and iMac.
Is it just me or I don't recall hardware product launches during a WWDC Keynote ( ? ).
Pretty sure the G4 cube was announced at WWDC, and that was a full product launch, not just a refresh like these would be. Covering a hardware refresh takes like 5 minutes, and they do that pretty regularly in the WWDC keynote.

After waiting so long for a new iMac and finally getting impatient enough to pull the trigger on the 5K iMac from 2015 about a month ago, I'm actually relieved no new iMac would be announced. :p
There may be a new iMac release this year. It's long overdue. I just hope it comes with a real GPU instead of that Intel Graphics Crap.
We could always go Hackintosh, just that it's a pain to have to deal with incompatibilities every time there's an update.
I was editing a 1080p60 video on someone's iMac 5K and it didn't impress me much.
I was able to do just fine with my 2011 iMac. I was able to use 3D text without any issues. It seems the latest FCP X, Motion and Compressor updates are able to deal with lower end GPUs (mine only has 512 MB).

This is absurd and everyone knows it. The MacBook pro and MacBook may get minor processor updates, this is par for the course. The MacBook air is dead.
MacBook Air won't be dead if Apple refuses to release a MacBook that is $999 or cheaper starting point.

Thanks for that input. I was all against Apple back in the G4 days, so I didn't know.

Well, can't wait for WWDC and any surprises it may bring us this year! :D

Also - if in fact Apple is releasing a speed bump and no other changes it will get released the week before WWDC and for sure not during the keynote. They handled speed bumps like that in the past and I assume they will do the same here. In other words - May 30th.

Are we suppose to believe that Apple will announce a Siri speaker, iPad Pro 10.5" AND an update to MacBooks at WWDC? an event that for the last 3 years they have used to show off software only!

WWDC is only software for the last time

Since when Apple does hardware updates on WWDC keynotes ?

It's funny watching people justify why new hardware can't be shown at WWDC.

This is the company that removed the headphone jack from the iPhone.

For some odd reason, the WWDC format can't be changed to include hardware announcements. Oh, because it would go against recent history. LOL.

Let's pretend to ignore that iPhone 4 for example, was announced at WWDC.

It probably all comes down to whether the rumored iPad or Siri speaker get intro'd at WWDC. If so, then you're probably right. If not, I can easily see them giving five or ten minutes to talking about processor upgrades, especially if the move to Kaby Lake means more available RAM on the MBP.

I'm surprised at the selective memory MR users seem to have. Because WWDC used to have hardware 2013 and before, apparently that hardware this year is IMPOSSIBLE and will NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

It has been in the past, usually on a 3 year cycle. Losing money is not my friend though. :)

You could sell it to the Brazilian market!

Right now a low end Touch ID 15 inches is selling for 6000 dollars.

Sell it for the original price and people will buy it.

To me, it seems weird to have a 12" MacBook and a 13" & 15" Pros. It makes more sense, to me at least" to have them all consecutive odd numbers (11", 13" & 15") or all consecutive even numbers (12", 14" & 16").

I also would like 2 TB3 ports on the MacBook, and 4 on the MacBook Pro. Get Rid of the MacBook Air and the MBP without Touchbar. That simplifies the lineup, and makes the difference between Pro & non-pro more evident.

Actually, there is still a reason for a MacBook Air.

Macbook pro: "Professional" user machine with sophisticated graphics cards and ports

Macbook: Lightweight ultraslim average user machine only with USB-C

Macbook air: No ports, only inductive charging, just wifi for software via app store and completely water resistant...

More amazing innovation, to complement the Mac OS incredible advances.

Tim and his team deserve another billion in bonuses!

1. The redesign just a year ago was rather drastic, so I'm not sure what you're complaining about.

2. Tim's team has never been given a billion in bonuses, so spare us the hyperbole.

Macbook air is still with USB ports, magsafe, sdhc card slot... so thats why they wanna keep it around i guess till these ports die off...

Would be better if they just kill off the Air and bring down the price of the 12" or create a 13" :)

We need workstations and servers, not a re-release of stuff you just put out a few months ago.
Sigh. Discontinue those air and macbook things, just make one laptop in three sizes from student config to pro user. Nonsense to have 983402 different versions. No wonder the servers and workstations keep getting ignored.

By "we" I assume you mean you personally. Workstation and servers are not Apple's target market and they have noted those specific pro users are a very small amount of their users. So it would make far more sense to cater to a much larger audience who do purchase Macbooks and Macbook Pros. They have admitted they will work on addressing the need of the people with more pro requirements but definitely not their priority.

While I know "983402" is a hyperbole, but I think of those numbers when I think of PC's which have countless endless versions, where is Apple has very few versions of their laptops. Having only three would not make any sense. Since Apple users are fall into different groups. Some want as small and light as possible and less concerned about extreme power. So a Macbook or Air makes far more sense for them. Where is Pro users are fine with bigger and heavier to get more power. So having a Macbook and Macbook Pro line to me makes perfect sense. The air line does make a bit less sense since you would think people would simply get a Macbook, but they dont because the Air is less money which is a top priority for many users, and because they legacy ports and what some consider a better keyboard. I think the air would certianly phase out some day once people stop buying them in large numbers.

And? I have been constantly arguing against this almost baseless point that a surprising number of people keep making.
The fact is.... It doesn't matter.

Look at the last 8 years, half of WWDCs have included hardware, and half haven't. The WWDC 8 years go included updates to all MacBook Pros and introducing a new iPhone, as well as software. While they have more software to introduce today, if you watch the presentations there's A LOT they could cut out for time.

I find it funny that some people on this forum completely rule out hardware at WWDC, while Apple don't rule it out at all, it just doesn't work like that.

The fact is that it's more than likely for there to be hardware at WWDC 17, although I have to say, I know nothing about the Siri Speaker and it's release plans.

The Macbook Air is dead. Its not coming back, there is no reason with the 12" Macbook and the 13" Macbook Pro both being smaller than it.
As long as the 13" MBA is still significantly cheaper than the two-TB-ports 13" MBP ($500 cheaper on entry price, $300 cheaper when matching the SSD size) and Apple can live with itself in selling a non-retina laptop, Apple will keep it in the line-up. The two-TB-ports 13" MBP costs Apple more than the 13" MBA because the latter uses a cheaper, non-retina, non-wide-gamut, non-good-viewing-angle TN display but probably also because the components from CPU to other electronics are cheaper for the MBA, not least because it uses a generation-older CPU. But Apple might also be able to get a better margin from the two-TB-ports MBP because it can price it higher as it doesn't have to fulfil the role of the entry-level laptop.
