A slightly thicker iPhone is no bid deal; I just hope they change the TV to really set it apart from the previous two designs…

I think their prediction is a week early as well. My wager is that the event will be on Tuesday the 15th.
Apple's fiscal year ends on Sept. 26. Therefore, sales will start on the 25th to get their usual 1 weekend of new sales in to the 10K report. They also want a full 2 weeks of pre-orders, so announcing on the 15th would be too late. Sept. 9 is more likely. Two-and-a-half weeks of pre-orders and waiting allows the hysteria to build more.

Here's what's gonna happen:

September
iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus information.
HomeKit presentation with additional capabilities & hardware.
Apple Pay supporting more banks, merchants, Canada, Australia, and of course, rewards cards.
Apple Watch 2 preview with release in "early 2016".
iOS 9 review.
Watch OS 2 review.

October
iPad Air & Mini refresh.
MacBook Pro & MacBook refresh.
iMac refresh.
iPad Pro (or similar name).
Mac OS 10.11 review.

Anyone who is expecting something mind blowing will be let down. There isn't enough of a profit & demand aspect for the iTV or whatever Apple would call it. Think about it for a second - if Apple were to make a TV do you think it'd have a crappy display? Absolutely not. The TV would probably have a 4K or 8K resolution, be made out of premium materials, perhaps have a curved screen, and would have Apple's software built into it (perhaps some kind of TV streaming service). A TV with all of those features would cost north of $20,000 to buy. Low demand, and low margin isn't Apple's game.

I wouldn't be surprised if El Cap and iOS9 were ready for release on this date. They seem to be progressing fairly quickly.

I'm not into S models so I'll be waiting for the iPhone 7. Looks like I'll be skipping this keynote.

No one is thinking Apple is making an actual television at this point…

What? Apple's not going to preview a new Watch in September. It would kill any holiday sales. And I will be shocked if we don't see an new TV box this fall. I am skeptical that iPads will be included at the September event unless Apple has no new Macs to announce this fall and September is the only event for the rest of the year. But I kind of doubt it.

I agree with the Sept 25th sales start date, but Apple usually announces the Tuesday or Wednesday before they release the following Friday, which is 9-10 days later, not 16-17 days. That's exactly what they have done now for the past three straight years anyway, so that's why I'm wagering on the Sept 15th date.

iPhone 5: Announced Sept 12, released Sept 21
iPhone 5s: Announced Sept 10, released Sept 20
iPhone 6: Announced Sept 9, released Sept 19

Just a word to the wise...there is no confirmation that this will be called "iPhone 6s," as with such dramatic technical improvements, Apple may skip the 's' interation and simply introduce this as 'iPhone 7' - at least that is my prediction. The "3GS" was the first 'S' phone, and then 4s, 5s, and 6s. I think the public is most likely to go gangbusters on an iPhone 7, than an iPhone 6s, especially if they already have a 6.

Two years ago on 9/10, last year on 9/9 (labor day 1 week earlier) and this year 9/9 because labor day on 7th I agree with the rumor.

It'll be keeping the same overall design as the 6, so there's no chance of it being the 7. The 5s and 4s both had pretty dramatic improvements over their predecessors as well.

Great news. My bank account is primed and waiting for all three products

I wish I could say the same :(

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but what is the point of App Store on Apple TV?

(Must admit the Siri integration sounds cool. "Hey Siri, play The Gladiator" would be much more fun than clicking up and down buttons on my media centre for five minutes)

Video games. Content like BBC iPlayer and All4 can finally come native to Apple TV (in the UK the only way to watch on demand TV services is AirPlayed from your phone).
