Am I right to be really scared about what Apple will do with the ATV and the iTunes store?

I have the feeling they are going to do something to a) gimp the 3rd Gen box (which I have no issues with) to force us to buy the new one and b) do something to the store to screw over all the purchases we already have a c) disable the iTunes Share feature so we can no longer stream our custom media from macs to the ATV. I will be so pissed if they do any of these things.

I'm heavily invested - I have 2 ATVs, 350 iTunes Movies, 30 TV Shows and my entire Blu-ray/DVD Collection of over 2,000 Disks has been ripped and meta-tagged to work with iTunes. I would NEVER forgive Apple if they f'ed with the service at this point. Especially if it's only done to force people to buy new, crappy hardware and sign up for their even crummier cloud/subscription services.

I can relate.

I am heavily vested too in regards to iTunes and movies ripped for it, not as nearly as much as you, but starting over right now would be a royal pain in the wallet amongst other things.

Rose gold color will probably appeal mainly to women. I can't see many guys going for that color.

Gold, Silver, and Space Gray are guy colors
That rose gold looks brown in the film. If it's really that brown, men will like it, too. It will go with a lot of leather cases. Besides, guys are a diverse lot and don't limit themselves to "guy colors" these days. Maybe businessmen do, but athletic and creative types don't seem to give a snip about that sort of thing. Nor do a lot of engineers I've met. And I have seen somewhat rough, thuggish looking late-teens males wearing Hello Kitty stuff. I did not ask. Some things I prefer to remain a mystery.

I had a 4s that started giving up the ghost in March so I had to upgrade then. I'm pretty happy with it but I was planning on upgrading this fall anyway and still plan on it. I would like the the + version and will use that till it becomes unusable.

I see myself doing the same with the S+ too. I think Apple will address the structural issues from the 6+, which mine is still fine, and I'm looking forward to that. I just find the hardware/software combo is about all I really need. Of course not withstanding a new killer app or feature that would require more hardware horsepower later on down the line.

Staying with my 6. :) I believe next year is when we'll see the true innovation. An improved design, A10 processor and iOS X (which I hope will add a stack of new features!) I really look forward to the iPhone 7. The 6S, not so much.

A new iPad is on my shopping list, as I just sold my iPad Mini 1st gen.

My Apple TV 2nd gen works well and only gets limited use. However if Apple nails the 4th gen and the App Store, I might want one.

Yeah, the A9 with 2GB RAM will blow the A8 with only 1GB RAM away. There must have been some technical reason why Apple didn't increase the RAM with the 6/6 Plus like they did with the iPhone 4/5. They probably had planned the upgrade at some point during iPhone 6 development.

I think Apple kept it at 1g on the 6 simply for increased margins. With iOS 9 you will see new apps that will need the RAM. Have to give credit to Samsung. Even though Apple Designs the architecture for their chips at their facility in Orlando. Samsung developed the 14nm process for the A9. I think TSMC will fab the A9 at 14nm as well? IMO, people will be amazed how powerful, yet significantly more efficient this Silicon will be.

The we get the 14nm A10 in the iPhone 7 (or simply Apple iPhone.) Very exciting times in the industry. Moore's Law is not that far away any longer. :apple:

AppleTV is the winner here. It is the most anticipated product and it has been taking years to be upgrade.
iPhone sure are the cash cows but everybody expects a yearly update around this time. Just wish Apple can make 32gb base to all models. It's about time.

I hope on the same event we see a refresh on the iMac end.
Once Skylake is available I would love to see new laptops and MacPro with stand alone TB displays at 5k res.

 I've seen an awful lot of very attractive, boobed and penis-less "guys" running around with iPhone 6 and 6+ in Gold, Silver and Space Gray. Apparently no one told them those were colors for the guys.

Comments like that remind me of pre-6 comments about how the only market for big-screened iPhones were guys who carried man purses or wore pants with over-sized pockets. Don't know who bought all those 6's. Still watching for tons of guys carrying man purses or in pants with over-sized pockets. ;)

I suspect that just like with the A7 & A8, the performance difference between the A9 and A10 will be small. The 6s and 6s Plus will probably get multi-tasking thanks to the 2GB RAM and iOS 9.

Assuming it has 2GB RAM, which is a big assumption in my opinion.

If Apple wants to sell the 6s into 2017 and possibly 2018 (in some markets), it will need 2GB to be viable on the market. I think the plan was to increase the RAM on iPhone 6, but either something went wrong or Apple just wanted higher margins. Whatever the reason is why Apple kept the iPhone 6 at 1GB doesn't matter now. With all of the smoke we're getting about the 6s getting an increase in RAM, there has to be a fire. It would be a huge letdown if there was only 1GB. Most people if given a choice bet. more RAM and Force Touch would chose the extra RAM.

Really hoping for an update to the AppleTV that runs on something better than a single core A5. I've been waiting for a while for Apple to put at least some effort into the potential that AppleTV can be.

Yeah, yeah, I know - If you are so much smarter than Apple, why are you not the CEO? Why don't you make your own device?

It's priorities for them, and they don't prioritize quality software as much as they used to. Lets be honest, iOS and OS X have really suffered the last couple of years. Apple wants to sell kewl hardware more than push quality software. That's why people have been clamoring for a new "10.6" update for OS X. And also the complaining about the lack of multitasking, no filesystem capabilities, etc... for iOS.

I can definitely see iPad making it into the September event. We have to face the fact that iPad isn't as strong of a product as it was a couple of years ago. Instead, I think the October fest (heh) will put more focus on Apple Watch in the coming years with this year only having some new models of the same Apple Watch 1. I don't expect an Apple Watch 2 until late 2016 to be honest.

So essentially iOS (iPhone + iPad) in September and OS X and watchOS in October. iPad Pro will probably be a One More Thing for the September event while Apple TV 4 will be a One More Thing in October. Also, didn't I read somewhere that the TV streaming service is delayed until next year? Therefore I see no reason to launch a new Apple TV until November or December this year.

I'm right there with you. I love my 6+. I might even wait for the 7s or 8. Also, I think we need some time before ForceTouch is particularly useful. I'm praying iOS X comes with multi-tasking. That'll be huge.

Very possible. I'm not very familiar with A10 architecture. You point is logical since each will be on 14nm silicon. :apple:

2g. In the 6s/6s+. Guaranteed. The only question is will they start at 16g or 32g. I say, 16g, 64g, 128g. That will force most into the 64g as entry and increase overall margins for Tim.
I disagree that it will be like the new iPods, 16,32,64,128. The 6s with 32g as the entry is too much for Tim to swallow giving you 2g of RAM std. :apple:

Why do they keep calling this the "new" iPhone? I just watched that video without sounds and its exactly the same thing as the old one. Same form factor and appearance but with the usul extra ram, slightly faster processor, slightly better camera, slightly less bendy case and forced touch gimmick thingy. Anyway. Who cares if it's indiscernible from last years release .. Just pass me my Apple Watch so I can pay for it .... NOW! Thanks

Looks aren't everything. Think of a person with a failing heart, and the same person months later after successful surgery. That person--and his/her loved ones--would argue there's a huge difference, though things look the same ℗ the outside.

Actually, if there's still only 1GB RAM in the S series, I don't think I'll bother to upgrade and will keep my glitchy 6plus. It's oversized and lags but it will suffice until Apple gets their act together.

I am also hoping for a new IPad mini with 2GB of RAM. If they don't upgrade the mini, either, I'll consider my Android options. I don't mind switching to Android tablets. I've used one before. I just prefer iOS. I'm limping along now on my existing mini and have to upgrade or abandon it.

I don't want to go android for my phone because I have an Apple Watch I am crazy about.

If that's the case then Tim needs to be b-slapped. My poor unsuspecting sister-in-law isn't very tech savvy about specs. She didn't understand the ramifications of getting only 16 g of storage on her 6Plus. She has very few apps, music and only a couple of games yet she struggles to keep deleting photos and content just so the phone won't malfunction. Some days she can't even get her texts on time. She has a horrible impression of the IPhone now. We tried assuring her that it's because the phone has insufficient storage for her needs and not because it's the worst piece of garbage she's ever had the displeasure of owning.

She owned an IPhone 5s that was 16 g as well. But there was a time that would work out okay. Apps are eating up more space. And with the larger screen and nice camera, taking pictures is more tempting than ever. It's crazy to design this beautiful portable media consumption and creation device and sell it with inadequate storage for its intended purpose. Save that kind of miserly attitude for the low end, not the flagship phone.

It's going to be worse for people if they really did increase the megapixel count on the camera. I think Apple would be pennywise and pound foolish to mess around with 16g iPhones going forward. They could really harm their reputation among people like my sister-in-law who aren't tech minded but want the iPhone because it "just works" and is supposed to be premium.

It looks more pink than brown to me, but I suppose we'll just have to wait and see

Just because I mention they're guy colors doesn't mean they're for guys only. ;)

I don't get the appeal of those huge phones either.

In the film the rose gold looked brown to me. I'm on iPad mini retina with a slightly crippled color gamut so reds and magentas and pinks take on a rusty tint compared to what you'd see on a monitor or IPad Air. So that may also skew my perception of the color of the Rose gold.

In the pictures you provided in your post the Rose gold does look pinkish. My husband likely would not want it. He's got very conservative tastes for the most part. He has a gold MacBook only because they are hard to get and that was the only color available to him at the time one was finally offered to him. He likes it a lot, but it's not a color he would normally choose for a business accessory.

But many of his younger male employees like colors and don't like to be limited to silvers and grays and blacks. They would take purple if offered the choice. They don't have to meet with representatives or heads of other companies. They don't have to project a serious image. So when given that freedom they go for the colorful and playful.

I am a tomboy and currently have a space grey phone and iPad mini. I don't generally go for bright colors in accessories, either. But it's been several years now that I've gone for the serious look and I'm a bit bored by the austerity. For my next devices I'm going light and as playful as I can get. If there is a pink iPhone 6s, I'm going for it!

Edit to add: I just realized there are other films after the first one I saw embedded in the original post. Apparently the new Rose gold is either very pink or the russet color. They just don't know which shade Rose Gold will actually end up being. I'd been confused up to now and thought the Rose gold you were talking about was the pinkish tinged gold shade. Not that Hello Kitty Pink, which to me is just plain pink and can not possibly be construed as a shade of gold.

So anyway, I have to agree with you. If the new Rose gold turns out that brilliant pink hue, I can't see that many men going for it. Some will. But I don't think it's going to be s popular color with men.
