doubt it would work OTG on macbooks where no internet is avaikable

Could use the LTE connections that would be abundantly available when the OS actually gets released. I have a feeling this is where both Apple and (most certainly) Google are going.

Still a few years away, but I bet that the data center would be used for prototyping and testing a cloud based OS.

I think they're incorporating a new logo.

I don't know what to expect from this. Both Snow Leopard and Windows 7 are on par with each other. I have no idea what I'd want new on the desktop now - it's stagnated for so long.

Stagnate is hardly the word to use for Mac OS; you're looking for consistent.

  • Blather from Steve about Mac sales going through the roof
  • Blather about FaceTime and xxx million devices
  • iLife with FaceTime unveiled - ships on every Mac
  • iWork 11 - blather about virtual meetings and doc creation
  • Lots of cloud support for iWork and iLife
  • AirPlay further explained?
  • Lion discussed
  • One more thing - MBA with 3G option

Sounds quite realistic. I would not be disappointed with that...

-Ams.

System wide AirPlay in 10.7 imo.

I hope there's a couple of new Mac released as well as the Lion preview.

I also hope that all Macs after that date will come with a free upgrade to Lion when it is released.

I guess that iLife '11 and iWork '11 might also get previewed or released.

All in all, it's gotta be good, hasn't it?

Lion and MBAs! *hyperventilates*

(well one would assume MBAs based on that razor thin sheet of aluminium)

I agree with your prediction but I think that they won't even mention AirPlay (but except for that everything u said)

If 10.8 is like 10.6, then it will be incremental, and will be more like "Mountain Lion".

This is great. I'm really looking forward to what Apple has to offer for the future of the Mac. Can't wait for a preview of 10.7.

FINALLY! Apple news/event that I give a crap about!

I'm definitely paying attention to this event.

It's still safe to get an iMac, right? Even if Lion is announced it will be a year away?

Engadget reports that Apple has issued invitations for a special media event to be held next Wednesday, October 20th. The invitation for the event, which is to be held at the company's campus in Cupertino, California, carries the tagline "Back to the Mac".

The invitation also contains an image of what appears to be a lion peeking out from behind the Apple logo, hinting at discussion of Mac OS X 10.7. "Lion" has been one of the most commonly-suggested "big cat" names for the next-generation operating system.

As shown in our Buyer's Guide, much of Apple's notebook line with the exception of the entry-level MacBook is due for a refresh, and Apple has refreshed at least a portion of its notebook line each October or November for the last several years. Apple's desktop offerings have all been updated relatively recently, suggesting that the company's media event may focus on notebooks if new hardware is included on the agenda.

This and the snap feature I use all the time. They are fantastic. My work computers are all Windows XP and it's hard to adjust back to not having these two simple but very effective features.

Thanks! I'm going to try it out. And as a work XP user too I know your pain.

They definitely won't be releasing the OS at the event. I'd wait until after the event before buying a iMac at this point though, on the off chance that it is updated again.
