Apple to Host 'Back to the Mac' Media Event on October 20th

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

Coming in 2013: Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion.... :D

Lion should indicate the last iteration of OSX. There's no point in going from Lion to Cougar/Lynx, or whatever.

My guess is that XI (OS11) will be a complete redesign again. Maybe built with touch in mind right from the start.

Speculation: The lion is the considered to be the king of the cats, so is this the last planned version of OSX?

And no, I don't think the desktop OS will die, it could change though. The capabilities of mobile devices may change to the point that they want one OS across the entire line in a few years from now (with different mouse and touch UI's of course). Windows 8 is supposed to have a major focus on touch computing too.

11.6" MacBook Air, Please!

I can dream, can't I? :)

I'm finally in the market. Deal breaker is the inclusion of an Ethernet port, seeing as I do Network... work. For lack of a better term.

or it could be cloud based (thin client) to use that new data center. No one ever knows.

Oh wow! Great news. :D I wonder what they can do to improve things?! (without bloating it)

I would've thought Lion is the end of the osX road too, which sounds fair enough.

please an iLife update
please a iWork update
please get Mobileme more stable
please make the iDisk faster
please a big Macbook Air update
please bring iMovie HD back

Yes! Apple getting into the computer business, at last. I predict that they will change their name to Apple Computer Inc.

...and Steve Jobs is the Lion King!? Or is it Bertrand Serlet?

aah, I look forward to all the poetry coming up in future apple marketing:
"The Lion sleeps tonight" (New smart sleep mode?)
etc..
:p

Cool. With all the iOStuff grabing the headlines for the last two years or so, nice to hear some MacOS stuff.

:D
