I agree with most of this post, except two things:

1) 13'' would have integrated graphics, but they'd be from Intel. Which, well, suck. SBridge's IGP shows some promise, but it's not even out yet.

2) Maybe a logic board redesign could provide space for iX + Intel's Waste-of-Space-pseudo-GPU + dedicated GPU without removing the ODD?

Possible, but I think C2D will stay for a bit longer. I'm sure that Apple can persuade Intel to keep producing them, after all they are the best option for 13" Mac notebooks. Think how many 13" Macs are sold, thousands (millions?).

All I'm seeing it 10.7, iWork, iLife etc and other software updates, and a MBA refresh.

Please don't update the MBP range (at least too drastically) only got a 15" one 4 days ago! Would be so annoyed, guessing there is nothing I could do about it if they did??

What all big cats are left besides Cougar?

A lot of other names for cougar, mostly: they've already used Puma and Panther (which can refer to other species, too), but there's still Mountain Lion, Mountain Cat, Catamount, and Painter. Also a bunch of smaller species like Lynx, Bobcat, and Clouded Leopard, but while bigger than a housecat they don't really qualify as big cats.

10.7 lion
ilife 11
iwork 11
macbook air update.

HOWEVER

Notice the shape of the square grey background. Its shaped like a touchpad. Look at the edges on the top, they are shaped different to the ones on the bottom.

Maybe its a hint of a transition into a touch based os

A mix between a theory and my hopes for the future: perhaps the thin, aluminum cut out suggests that the super drives will be removed from current Macbooks and they will all be like the Macbook Air. Apple has been known to do away with certain standards, like floppy drives, before they have the chance to naturally fade away. It would really revolutionize current laptops if there were cheaper super-thin laptops.

This would also explain why the Air hasn't been refreshed in so long. Maybe they were working on doing something bigger with it.

omg thats in a week, yea!!!!!!!
wait, 10.7 already? snow leopard came out just a little more than a year ago.

True but SL was also announced almost 2 years ago so do the math it will be annoucned next week but we won't see it till spring of 2011

I'm pretty sure Steve Jobs will only give us a peak of 10.7, and the beta will probably be available 2011... Just my guess, its around the same time Windows 8 beta will be available..

incremental updates

I think we're long overdue for the incremental updates to have names as well. An apropos one would be Hairball 10.7.2 ... then perhaps CatNip 10.7.5.

People who don't want IOS coverage should not hang out at a IOS rumor site.

Ok, Ill bite. Can't believe I have to explain myself but here goes. I said MORE coverage, this is a all things Apple site. Some folks believe the company has been focusing too much on iToys and this is a good sign they are balancing it out a bit. Why someone would vote that negative is beyond me.

10.7???
ALREADY!??

This cruddy "snow leopard" still doesn't work right. Next OS will wait for installation for one full year.

It would be interesting if they released a tres-awesome touchscreen iMac at this event. That would be a good reveal. Nothing else people are predicting is worth a damn, unless iWork/iLife have some crazy innovations.

A MacPad Air would be intense, but I doubt it. A 2.5 lb. MacOSX tablet would be awesome, but I doubt Apple will go that far at this time....despite being an inevitable move.

Lion, Cougar, Kitty cat.. Seriously, what difference does it make? The things you guys worry about is incredible.
