I'm getting sick of all these Mac stories, where is some iOS news?! WTF?!

I am in need of a new MBP mine is soon 3 year old, but i am not sure if i should buy it this time or not.

Some say that big notebook update will come in 1Q of 2011.

BTW how come a new os? snowleopard was recently released not even 1 year old.

Ah what timing. The 12" PowerBook G4 is seriously on its last leg. (Didn't help that it fell out of the bag onto the pavement either haha)

C'mon Apple, you know you have to use the name Cougar eventually...

A cougar is the same thing as a puma, which has already been used.

That is more like an update. Lion is supposed to be a major upgrade, in theory a total new concept from the rumors I heard.

I hope its as good as Tiger was. Both Leopard and Snow Leopard are rushed releases in my opinion. Take your time on this one Apple...

More Cats to Come.

Let's start a rumor... Apple loses a patent suit and has to license Dos from MS and base OS X on Windows Millenium. :D:D:D:D:D

My MBP is 4 years old this month... still going strong, but the screen is somewhat dimmer. HHHmmmnnn... drools.

I seriously don't think it's fair to continue to sell a product (in this case MacBook Pro) at the full normal price, market it like its only just come out (on their website) then release a new one a few weeks later with no notice.
Thats only based on the assumption they do release a new model, but I mean in general with products across the board, especially when its something as pricey as a computer (especially a Mac).

Spose they are perfectly able to do that, but it sucks that there is nothing you can do.

I hope we see some interesting hardware. Could Lion perhaps be the final 10.x release? The name suggests to me that it is the culmination of the series. Anyway, really glad to finally have some Mac excitement.

In my opinion we could expect:

  • Minor update of MacBook Pro (updated Arrandale processors, larger hard drives, better graphics)
  • Major update of MacBook Air (New processor, updated design etc.)
  • iWork and iLife 2011. Includes native .docx support for iWork etc.
  • Minor software updates such as better Bootcamp drivers and Facetime
  • Finally, announcement and preview of Lion

Great! I've been looking to upgrade to a new laptop= so hopefully there's an upgrade to the MB pro.

same here dude! my gut is telling me new operating system and new laptops! i wonder what their gonna do next. if they do introduce new laptops im so waiting for them haha1 ill be ver happy to have the latest and greatest macbook pro! or maybe theyll come up with a new name...

Yup. Snow Leopard was mainly a backend update. Updating things to 64 bit, adding grand central for GPGPU etc. Presumably, Lion would include an UI overhaul amongst other things.

What all big cats are left besides Cougar?

A cougar and puma are the same breed. And Apple already used Puma (for 10.1).

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki?search=Puma

Perhaps the Apple rotating on an axis refers to the patents we have seen in which imacs have a tilt mechanism along with the touch interface?
https://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/01/apple-testing-touchscreen-panels-for-future-imac/
thats what i think... and why are we taking the invataion, dont we know apple usually has hidden messages in its invites, and its not so clear cut.....

i also think it could be like the patent that was released that has a Imac/mac touch, that when turned flat is a touch screen mac, and when straight is normal..

i also thnk that if the computers are updated, its not going to be just minor, becuase what the heck would be the whole point of having the event if it was just minor.. i think they (all the systems) get touch screens, as steve said that touch screen is the wave of the future, and you can see that, in how every ipod/ipad is touch screen,
