We all know what the Lion means. OS X Lion, period. For the next paragraph, pretend it's not there, but that there's just white instead.

Focus on the apple. Not only it is ridiculously thin (clue 1), but imagine for a second that you take it off. You'd be left with what looks like a closed Mac Laptop seen from above, right? The aluminum, the white apple in the middle... Now focus for a second on the relative dimensions: the apple is way too big for that to represent a 15'' or a 17''. Even a 13'' would be misrepresented by that. However, if you imagine a 11'' laptop, the apple might just have that size, when in comparison to the rest of the laptop. (clue 2). Another thing in favour of it being a laptop are the corners: two sharp ones, and two round ones (clue 3).

All of these would fit as clues for the much-rumored 11.6'' Macbook Air.

Also, the spinning apple could be a reference to either 3D or the iMac patents with moveable screen, but that'd be sort of a longer shot.

Expectations...

I'll be happy if Steve just says the words "Final. Cut. Pro."
...and not even in that order....
...or even in the same sentence.

I just wish the announcement was not so blatant. It kind of ruins the surprise.

i dont think it ruins anything because we dont officially know what's going to be announced only a hint that apple is going back to its roots with macintosh. everything is speculation so technically no surprise to be ruined.

I just looked at the Apple on my 13" mbp. That Apple is to big for a 11 inch model... it can only be the 7" pocket mac the Lion is peering from.

The next line of MacBooks will have an Apple logo centred on the lid which is four times the size of the current. The glow will be powered from a million tiny lions' roars which will be converted into light.

You heard it here first.

So now that Greenpeace is no longer going after Apple, we need PETA to do the job.

i love your ideas, all are plausible but my guess on the spinning apple logo is that apple is "turning over a new leaf" so to speak. i personally think this is going to be a huge huge announcement for apple. seeing upgrades on all computers and operating systems for the mac.

I seriously don't think it's fair to continue to sell a product (in this case MacBook Pro) at the full normal price, market it like its only just come out (on their website) then release a new one a few weeks later with no notice.
Thats only based on the assumption they do release a new model, but I mean in general with products across the board, especially when its something as pricey as a computer (especially a Mac).

Spose they are perfectly able to do that, but it sucks that there is nothing you can do.

There's nothing wrong with that. They are usually pretty cool for helping out people who just purchased a Mac. I deal through their business department and their rep told me the day before an upgrade to just wait 24 hours. I wound up getting the older model for a great deal, since the new iMac only had one firewire.

Although, if you buy one between now and Wednesday, you're foolish.

Maybe they'll finally finish off the 64-bit apps? iTunes and Final Cut Pro are the last two from Apple aren't they?

I have a different spin....

:D

I wonder what (if any) hardware 10.7 will drop, saying this is about 10.7. Since, 10.3, Apple started dropping computers.
-10.3 - needed USB
-10.4 - needed firewire
-10.5 - needed 867+ MGHz G4
-10.6 - needed Intel
-10.7 - need Core 2 (as in no more Core Solo/Duo) (?)

All of the above, plus:

A Mac with a touch screen...

Looking forward to...

In all seriousness, I don't want to see a upgrade to the MBP. I'll be pretty peeved since I only got mine last month!

11" Macbook Air would be nice and of course iLife '11 will be announced!
