Yeah, it's such a shame to see. However if Apple sort themselves out I think many of those users will come back. But to be honest, it doesn't look like thats going to happen. Tim says he loves the Mac, and while we will get revolutionary upgrades this month, I still find it difficult to believe given the extended refresh cycles.
He knows about markets and figures, I feel like he is trying to make Macs behind PCs so the sales go down and he can say "iPad Pro is outselling our whole Mac lineup".

Yeah, I'm sure part of it was they didn't want to cannibalise sales of the iPad Pro by introducing another 'Pro' product.

Just like the new MacBook Pro thread, this one will explode!

I just want an updated iMac - preferable with USB-A ports (at least 2).

No, it's presented on digital media. :p
Not the new iMac will be all USB C/TB3. it doesn't really matter with a desktop since adapters/USB hubs can be fitted in place.

SSDs are dirt cheap these days. I'd expect 256 or 500GB to be standard across products.

That's being optimistic, isn't it!? 256GB may/should be standard, but 500GB is a pipe dream.

Hoping to also see some M.2 offerings for the iMac for some incredible performance gains.

M.2 is a connection type, not an interface in itself. You can get M.2 SATA drives and M.2 PCiE drives: same connection, different speeds.

Hopefully I can get an order down for an iMac soon then. I've got an impulse-purchase amount of money and two sides pulling for it - a VR-dedicated PC or an iMac. So, come on Apple!

What if your camera uses CF? (Many pro models do) or XQD (high end Nikons and Sonys) or some of the other formats that pros use. Or if you have a legacy camera or need to support a bunch of formats. Much easier to just carry a reader. The one I use has CF, MS, 2x SD, MicroSD/TF, and maybe 1 more. USB 3.0 so it transfers fast and can be used with the desktop iMac and a laptop or even a Windows PC.

I never have used the SD slot on any computer.

Isn't the SD card reader on the Mac just hooked up to the internal USB bus? Why wouldn't you just use a USB cord straight to the camera then?

Not official yet. Don't want to get my hopes up for my new MBP until an official invite is sent. Macrumors has broken my heart too many times in the last 6 months. :(

If any of them have a headphone jack and no lightning port to plug in new headphones that work with the iPhone 7...

shenanigans...
It's not going to have Lightning. They are trying to push people towards wireless, not proprietary wired.

Is it just me, or are these rumors making anyone else roll their eyes at some of the "features"? Call me old school... Hell call me a crybaby, but who the hell needs a touch screen on a Macbook Pro?! My MBP is a work horse so a touch function would only handicap the accuracy I need when performing certain tasks. On a regular Macbook, fine. I just don't see it on the Pro.

Also, "thinner"... Really? My Pro is thin as hell, even with a hard case. Sometime I pick it up with one hand and worry it's gonna bend. When the hell do computers stop getting thin? Personally, I think the retinas are just fine. Any thinner is just nonsense, TO ME.

Then you have the rumor that essentially all ports will be removed. I love the idea of USBc, but I use the SD card slot full time and as the SD card space gets bigger, people are going to wish they could leave it in the slot full time, for that extra space. Damn them if they remove the headphone jack. As an on the go musician, I wouldn't be able to use a MBP without the 3.5mm jack. I also think removing the USB connection would be a big mistake. There has to be at least one. I think the HDMI comes in handy, but I guess I wouldn't poop my pants without it.

It's bad enough the trackpad is no longer mechanical, and that is another thing I need. Mainly due to muscle memory, I am faster with a mechanical trackpad. When editing and mixing music on the go, relying on a vibration to tell me I have clicked something, just doesn't cut it. Feeling the trackpad press in, is a much more efficient form of feedback.

I think, even for my crybaby self, there are some positives. One is the USBc to charge. It would be GREAT if they could make it magsafe though. That feature has save my Macbook enough times to buy a car with the money I'd have to spend repairing it. The other positive is the potential for the touch panel. If the artist renderings are correct, I can see that bar being of great use.

Sorry to be crying all over all of your Apple products. I just see more gimmick than I do necessity and I am VERY invested in not wanting to live to see the day where Apple products become novelty items. When Steve Jobs died, I figured the company would go in a very misguided direction. These rumors seem to confirm that that may begin to happen.

You know what would be nice, and is LOOOOOOOONG overdue?! A thinner bezel. But before the thinner bezel, we'll probably get refrigerated devices that cool the area where the palms rest...

When my 2014 retina dies, I will buy another 2014 retina, or have it fixed. I don't see myself owning any newer models for the foreseeable future.

For anyone who made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read my rant. You all have a great day!

Well if the new MacBook Pro is impressive enough I'll sell my current MBP for a new one. I'm kinda worried about the keyboard though.
It will be be very attractive and it may be an instant purchase for a lot of people. Have you tried the keyboard? I think it's something that may take a while to get used to or may be impossible to get used to for some. I got used to it, but I think that their design goals are rapidly overtaking functionality.

horrible.

There will be Black I think but it may be accompanied by Space Grey rather than Jet Black. it would be extremely hard to manufacture on the MacBook Pro, not to mention the scratches. Having said that, it would look amazing.... before you touch it.
that's true. or they could use the same mac pro finish. i personally find that a lot nicer looking that jet black.

now imagine a world where the PRO range gets that unuseable / impossible to get used to keyboard !!!
