you can subscribe to the apple event podcasts and watch the videos as many times as you like :)

Sure but how difficult is it to leave that channel up? I like launching things directly from ATV when possible.

Remember Mavericks is, effectively, the 'fix' to the performance issues they've had with Retina displays which is why I suspect we've had to wait until now for Haswell-based refreshes.

I've never had an issue with Mountain Lion on my rMBP, the issue surrounds the display with image retention and yellow gradients.

I eventually got a refund on mine and really hope they have sorted out the display issues, I'd find it very surprising if they haven't.

One thing I like about Cook's keynotes is we don't get a parade of boring app demos. And the ones they do are kept pretty short. I would imagine today though they'll have one demo showing off 64-bit on iPad. Hopefully that's the only 3rd party demo.

Kind of understand what you mean by this...I prefer it when they get down to the nitty gritty....get to the point people!

It should be posted up here http://www.apple.com/apple-events/october-2013/ eventually, But does anyone with a JB Apple TV have the URL to the actual video stream?

Just wondering. Does this download automatically. Not showing up on my Apple TV 2:(

It didn't show up immediately. Go to an app, then back to the home menu. Then wait about 2 minutes. It should appear.

Go to System Settings and make sure you have the latest software update if it doesn't appear.

Not one for one of their biggest incomes, but one for this? I hope it's something big. :D
*Fingers crossed*

Supports the idea that this will be a BIG event.
Unfortunately I'm going to be on the road until this afternoon, Pacific Time, so I'll miss the whole thing.
But as soon as I get home, I'll look up the specs on the new iPad and probably order one.

I certainly hope they make it available to people with other devices instead of the 10 people who own an Apple TV.

Mavericks isn't the fix, Haswell/Iris is.

Not really. None of the retina based performance issues was about hardware. It was obvious to any retina MBP user like myself that to get rid of the performance issues all you had to do was to force your resolution to 2880x1800 with 3rd party utilities, and then performance was topnotch. That meant that the hardware was more than capable of running that many pixels at high fps. The issue was with the OS's handling of HiDPI, scaling of images and UI elements etc.

And they fixed some of that with Mavericks.

Not to mention, Haswell does not give better performance over Ivy Bridge. Haswell is a power saving update. And IRIS will only speed things up on the 13" model since the 15" always had the option of using the dedicated chip.

I am so looking forward to this. The question is whether to wait for broadwell or be content with haswell for my rMBP.

Personally I'd say go with the Haswell, the Broadwells have been delayed and are obviously having slight issues with those chips and most importantly is there really going to be such a significant difference that they're worth waiting for?

Yes that was one thing I didn't like about Steve's keynotes, they dragged on too long with app demos. Tim just gets on with it.

Shame I'll be at work.

Sneaky glances at live blogs in the office for me, or maybe watch the event when I get home. Not sure yet. Depends on whether my girlfriend allows me to take up the TV with an Apple event or not...

I hope (and think) they will have a demo of some game showing off new controllers from Logitech. And 64-bit computing of course.
