Apple to Release iPhone With Glass Casing and AMOLED Screen in 2017

So are we really going to get a iPhone 6SS? This should happen in 2016. 2 year cycle Apple; not 3.
Tim Cook's Apple, folks. (Even though this Fall's forthcoming 6SS will still sell like hot cakes. Just not what the true fans were hoping for in terms of the typical 2-yr redesign schedule.)

What about the 200+ times that person was wrong?
Do you realize how many things you report from that person? It's off the chart.
That he often repeats past rumors from other sources (that somehow magically become his!)
If you bat 20%, you're not usually called accurate.
Check the definition of accurate while your checking out what confirmation bias is.

It's not reporting what this slightly above average
PR expert / hack analyst that I object too. After all, rumor is your game.
It's the ridiculous characterization.

Also, even when someone else reported the correct news before Kuo, he still get the kudos later!

Also, If someone mentions Apple's motivation for actions
(done many many time in his "reports", using often basic marketing reasonings),
which there is no chance on earth they'd know about even if they knew what
was in the pipeline; because the leaker would then have to be a VP and up...
Considering how wrong Kuo is when predicting sales, I'm guessing there is no VP in his loop...
Then, I have to call most of that part spin, and nothing else.

Not going to get more into it because it's obviously HOPELESS.
This just makes this site, like many other rumor and news sites,
just being manipulated by not only pump and dumpers (on sales rumors)
But also fed a narrative by a PR experts/analyst (in that order).
Hunger for clicks IS a cruel master after all.

My God give it a break. Just ignore it and move on. Your anger is bit disproportionate in the grand scheme of all this. Man, you and Rogifan sure enjoy giving this guy free space in your head and raging against nothing while the rest of us just read, discuss, and move on like sane people...

Designing a different form factor just to be different is actually somewhat inline with Apple’s past. Glass could work, and touch on the back of an iPhone would be great.

As a photographer, the camera tech alone gets me excited for the iPhone 7. Others may disagree, but that's life. Don't upgrade this cycle then.

You're a 'photographer' and you'll be happy with an iPhone 7 and still no Raw support? Yeah. Ok. Lol

The rendering looks amazing! I'll still be upgrading this year (I'm on the NON S cycle), but if that's what comes out for 2017 I'll upgrade again.

With the change to NEXT/EDGE a lot of customers will have a financial incentive to not upgrade. A lot of folks are going to be rolling off NEXT 12 and NEXT 18 (and the comparable programs) between now and the end of the year. Kinda hard to jump into a new phone if a major upgrade is coming in 2017...

Now with traditional 2-yr U.S. carrier subsidy plans falling by the wayside, don't be surprised if Apple pushes the iPhone platform to a 3-yr redesign cycle. Less R&D dollars invested and each version will still sell millions of units globally, increasing Apple profit dramatically.

Spices it up a bit if they break the normal 2 year cycle, I for one don't mind as long as long as whatever the 2016 version of the iPhone is, is good enough an upgrade over the 6s and not completely left in the dust by the 2017 version.

I have a iPhone 4S, 5 and 6+. The 4S is a tank. Very heavy for how small it is. Amazingly heavy. That weight can only be coming from one place... the glass back.
If the 6+ had a glass back, it would either weigh a ton or be too fragile.

You know that Samsung released a Phone with a glass back and Amoled display already with their previous generation S6? The recent S7 Edge (5.5" display, all glass body) for example weights 157g compared to the 192g from the iPhone S6 Plus. The 4" iPhone 4s was only a little lighter than the 5.5" S7Edge with 140g. If Apple has nearly the skills like Samsung in 2015 to build a lighter glass body in 2017 than it would not be too heavy....If it is a good idea to do the same thing that your competition (and yourself for the body) did several years ago is another question.....

Buttonless Touch ID is awesome but keep the headphones jack, please.

Dammit I have to be on that Board of Directors

The whole pint of the 3D touch of clickable glass is to ease iPhone users to buttonless design where the whole screen is now the home button, touch ID & the navigation space. The different pressure sensitivity can correspond to different functions: light press is similar to right-click, a deeper press will get you home.

If he was wrong 200+ times, why not post the first 25 or so that come to mind? It should be easy for you.

So he has no real inside information he's just guessing. Why again do rumor sites treat this guy like is word is gold?
He guesses better than you and me, and funnily he's paid for this. Do you remember yourself making fun of all forum members that were guessing "iPad Air 2" as 2015 new iPad's name? I do, even if it's hidden between thousands of your posts.

My understanding was that new design would arrive with th iPhone 7s. Or they could reserve it for the iPhone 8.

Relatedly, Apple are going to run into a problem with their iPhone naming sooner rather than later. iPhone 10s? iPhone 12? Can't see that happening. I hope it doesn't just become 'the new iPhone'.

Another possible name: iPhone ME and iPhone LE?

Eh. Disappointment is the norm now.

Tru dat.

It's looking more likely that this year's iPhone will be "left in the dust" by next year's iPhone. We'll know for sure in 5 months if it actually looks like those leaked photos. Then a major redesign next year becomes more likely in my opinion.

Maybe that was true many moons ago.

However, since I'm not biased, by watching most of the recent Anandtech's reviews and seeing more durable devices with better screens and much better battery life than the latest iPhones, let me call BS on that one. I'm yet to see a modern OLED devices used by actual people having degradation issues. They are as frequent as smartphones exploding.

It's pretty clear that the biggest hit in battery life on newest iPhones comes from small batteries, nothing more. Hey, I don't blame Apple for that. Apple makes the best devices. I blame people wanting thinness at all costs.

And because you have not seen degradation issues with OLED means it's not happening or going to happen? It is really just a matter of time, given how OLED works, that it will degrade. It may not happen in the first life of a smartphone, but it will happen.

And as far as battery life goes, again, I'm not just pulling crap out of thin air - it takes more power to light an OLED screen to have a mostly white background (which is today what we're used to seeing with emails and most websites), which by the very act requires more energy to do so. Of course Apple makes decisions based upon lots of things, including their profit, availability of components, longevity, user experience, design. What reduces battery life is constant use of cellular radios, wifi, bluetooth, the screen and Apple generally gets more usable life per watt hour of battery than competing smartphones. So sure, an Android phone can get more hours of use, because they're using a much larger battery.

Kuo has made several accurate predictions:

- Many details about the iPhone 6s (Touch ID 2.0, 12MP camera, 16/64/128GB, 3D Touch, much more…)
- iPhone SE in first half of 2016
- New 9.7" iPad in first half of 2016
- Apple Pencil
- 17" MacBook Pro discontinued
- 12-inch MacBook
- 5-megapixel FaceTime cameras on new devices
- Apple Watch Sport in yellow & rose gold
- Apple Watch launching in 2015 with 8GB storage
- iPhone 5C Predicted to Replace iPhone 5, iPhone 4S Sales to Continue
- Many iMac rumors
- More…

You forgot how many guesses he made, and mostly when he get it right, it's one day before Apple announced it.

I am still not buying the 2017 part. The tick tock cycle won't be broken. Besides, this ain't Intel.
They ticked four times and tocked four times. That's like forever. If they changed the cycle it would destroy the fabric of space-time.
