This is the end of model numbers as we know them. Apple is going from a 2 year cycle to a 3 year cycle. So the S concept and specific tic toc will no longer work. This year will be the introduction of 'iPhone". Next year will be iPhoneX With IOSX which will represent the beginning of the next Decade.

Another possible name: iPhone ME and iPhone LE?

Tru dat.

It's looking more likely that this year's iPhone will be "left in the dust" by next year's iPhone. We'll know for sure in 5 months if it actually looks like those leaked photos. Then a major redesign next year becomes more likely in my opinion.

I thought Apple would eventually use the same naming scheme on iPhones as on Macs. Queue the iPhone Plus (late 2016) model name. I know that sounds ugly, but so is iPhone 13S Plus.

They ticked four times and tocked four times. That's like forever. If they changed the cycle it would destroy the fabric of space-time.

A tenth anniversary edition iPhone X next year would restore it if the phone brings back the iPhone 4 design language in a more updated form. At least in my opinion.

It also makes sense as a progression. In the next, next cycle, they can switch back to aluminum or a lightweight metal and shave the weight off even more.

Psh. Kuo. He's ayt.

Aluminum-backed iPhones rock. Don't fix what isn't broken. My SE is amazing: great design, & fast as f***. I even had a non-techie friend spontaneously comment on how fast it was.

You do know that the SE is a combo of glass and aluminum back right?

iPhone sales are down because of aluminum case...../loud buzzer/

Wrong!!!

IPhone sales are down because phones are on their way out....

Too many ppl at Apple trying to tweak old school

Apple needs some ppl who can think outside the box....

A true fan? Like true customers who bought the 6S in droves?
Nope. More like hoping for a newly designed iPhone 7 and not just a spec-bumped 6S as rumors are strongly suggesting. (Even if rumors are true, the phone will still sell millions of units.) Please don't comment if you're going to miss the point.

Yes, that's all we need in our iPhone design, a return to the glass casing era. Arrrgh, I hope this isn't true.

I'll just like to know how Tim Cook weathers the storm of having 1.5+ years of lackluster iPhone sales. Does he really want to sell more iPhone SEs, which have smaller profit margins? If anything, you would've thought he'd go all out with this Fall's model, considering I highly doubt they have any really new products in the pipeline.

Is there some site that tracks how accurate he is (and other analysts)? I know he has had some accurate predictions. What are some examples where he has been wrong?

I am not disagreeing with you. I am just looking for same data on how accurate he has been.
Do you have a link to that site?
[doublepost=1460935561][/doublepost]This was Kuo's 2014 roadmap

He only got 2/7 things on that timeline wrong.

I didn't miss the point and please don't ask people not to comment on a public Internet forum. Nobody has any real idea of what the next iPhone will be until Apple announces it.

Doesn't seem like record breaking quarter after record breaking quarter is lackluster.

I'm sure they could make the glass super strong and crack-proof if they wanted to. There are plenty of screen protectors that claim to do this.

I bet Safari will be faster on it....and battery life will suck :p

Seriously though, if it looked exactly like that rendition, I would buy it. I want them to bring back slate gray or black.
