My dream is that the iPad have split screen mode and eliminate the designation of "iPad Only" apps to be run in their split screen mode on iPhone6 Plus. Then I ditch my iPad2 and iPhone 4S and upgrade today to an iPhone 6 Plus.

Not likely. But neither is my willingness to spend money right now on anything but this scenario.

I want an iPad Air but am hesitant because:
  1. Build Quality
The iPad Air is just that - AIR. I can't imagine Steve Jobs approving the cheap build of this thing for such an extravagant price. They don't compare with the iPad 4. They are easily bendable whereas the earlier iPads had a SOLID build. Grasp the Air at the ends and you can easily bend the thing. also the back is so thin that even slight pressure from your fingers propagate to the screen, creating ghost images. Unbelievable!
  2. Touch ID
I hope that this so-called feature is made optional. i don't need it and don't want it. All the fan boys act like this is an absolute necessity and would sell their mothers to have it, but to me it's a privacy threat.
  3. Storage
Why is Apple so stingy with storage options? Come on Apple, don't you have enough $billions stashed away so that you can give customers what they want? Many of us iPad users prefer using it over laptops and we need an appropriate amount of storage. Even Steve Wozniak said TWO YEARS AGO that he wants a 256GB model.
  4. Migration Assistant
Apple, make it easy to transfer ALL the apps and their data to a new iPad with a migration assistant app similar to the way we can upgrade from one iMac to a new one connected with a lightning connector. I don't want to have to pay a small fortune to transfer all my data to the cloud then slowly download it to my new iPad, with questionable results.
If Apple puts the quality back into these iPads and don't force their fingerprint collectors on us I will be happy to buy a new one. Otherwise, I have been looking at the Samsung models but they are crap and don't have the app infrastructure of Apple.

So far Apple post-Jobs is more like Apple under Sculley. Quality control down the crapper, silly ideas, smug, don't listen to customers, etc.

Where is the /s? You've gotta be kidding about points 1, 2 and 4...

Point 3 on the other hand and absolutely valid. 64GB should be the base model iPad/iPhone/iTouch. Price isn't an issue. Size isn't an issue. It's pure obsolescence, a way to get people to "upgrade". Apple needs to understand that, no matter what the base size is, people will get bigger just because they can. It won't hurt the bottom line.

Brother. If she is expecting it I'd be standing in line if I were you.

:D

She isn't. Worse case, I flip flop my Christmas and birthday present plans if the iPad doesn't show up in time. I always buy them at the same time.

Always love an Apple event. My one hope is a new 12" Air. I've got the cash for it! I want it now. But, any new hardware is always nice, I suppose. I don't need (or really want) a retina iMac, and my current rMini iPad is fine. New Apple TV would be cool, though. That I'd buy immediately. Anyway, here's hopin' for a new Air.

I am not buying another ipad until they fix safari and the tab reload thing. I really hope they fix it with the air 2.

- iOS 8.1.
- New iPad Air/iPad mini with Gold finish, A8, and Touch ID (maybe 12.9" version).
- OS X Yosemite.
- iMac with 27" Retina display, 5K resolution.
- 27" Retina Thunderbolt Display with 5K resolution.
- Mac mini (Haswell), can drive 27" Retina Thunderbolt Display.
- Mac Pro updated support for new display.

Whats the point about Touch ID and having it optional? Do you understand that touch ID is absolutely optional on your iPhone? If you do not wish to activate it, you can keep on using the passcode like before.

Why would this be different on the NG iPad?

New 27" iMac 5 K for me please will be my birthday present to myself November 20th but have a feeling if these do come out they will ship next year or December

  1. I have an iPad Air since its launch and had an iPad 3 before, and have no idea what you're talking about. Build quality is fantastic. My only complain is that the display isn't laminated.

    [*]Touch ID
I hope that this so-called feature is made optional. i don't need it and don't want it. All the fan boys act like this is an absolute necessity and would sell their mothers to have it, but to me it's a privacy threat.
You must be the kind of person who puts a Post-it over his webcam.

    [*]Storage
Why is Apple so stingy with storage options? Come on Apple, don't you have enough $billions stashed away so that you can give customers what they want? Because the iPad isn't marketed as a computer replacement, and because they don't sell very high-capacity NAND chips. You would then require a larger logic board with room for more chips, which means a smaller battery. A 256GB model would also probably have very low sales. Woz isn't representative of the average tech user. This guy has like 10 phones.

    [*]Migration Assistant
Apple, make it easy to transfer ALL the apps and their data to a new iPad with a migration assistant app similar to the way we can upgrade from one iMac to a new one connected with a lightning connector. You'd need a crossover Lightning cable which doesn't exist. Even if it did, you'd probably complain Apple doesn't give it to everybody for free. Just use iTunes or any third-party utility on your computer if you want fast backups. Again, the iPad is not sold as a computer replacement.

    don't listen to customers, etc.

Funny you say that because I noticed the exact opposite.
Smaller iPad, bigger iPhones, iOS is more open to developers, OS X doesn't converge with iOS, admitting they screwed up with Apple Maps, etc.

I've said multiple times here that there's no way Apple will release a Retina or even a 4K iMac this year because I don't think they can put the quality of panel they'd prefer into the machine and still be able top sell it at a price point that anyone would actually purchase.

Looking like I may have been wrong, but after previously being burned by the 13" rMBP $400 price drop 6 months into it's existence, I will certainly be holding out until the Rev B version of a Retina iMac when the hardware catches up to the display and when pricing settles down to what they will ultimately plan to sell it for long term. Buyer beware on this initial model. Graphics card will struggle to keep up with the shear number of pixels and a price drop is a huge hit to resale value.

Just like my first gen 2012 rMBP? Still going strong and the best computer I've ever owned? And nobody had done it before... whereas 4K has been maturing for a while. Don't think I'll follow your advice. Definitely buying on day 1.

I know several iPhone/iPad users that barely use 16GB of storage due to very light usage. I'm sure that's part of Apple's justification.

Airport express is too small for certified AC wireless. The antennas have to have a certain XYZ 3D spacing for the mimo functions to work. The current AirPort Extreme barely passes compared to commercial wifi units... And Apple don't do EXTERNAL antennae.

I had read that previously. I asked at an Apple store and the 'expert' said that if laptops could be certified, Airport Expresses would be able to be certified too. Not that I completely believed him, but it did give me some hope that maybe it was possible.

Thanks for the response. I'm just replacing my first gen. Express that seems unable to stream AirTunes reliably now.

hmm 5k retina iMac would be amazing

tempted to sell my current iMac now

Be amazing to see how slow it runs with it's laptop GPU inside it.

If ONLY they would put a proper graphics card in an iMac I would of bought one years ago.

I never will whilst they continue to ruin them this way.

If I installed Public Beta 4 which they say has the same build number as GM will I have a problem installing the Final Public release over it?

Let's assume we are getting new Mac Mini's. (I know, not a given.) Will it be a spec update most likely or a redesign? What are the chances it will be SSD across the board?

Is that a joke about the iPad Air build quality?

Or about touch ID, LOL. Touch ID is amazing and my favourite thing Apple has done since their amazing trackpads. No Touch ID, no sale. On the 6 it works everytime, even with wet or sweaty hands which is where it usually to failed on the 5s.

Hmmmm, not sure if serious.

He is serious. If you really think the current GM candidate is the final version i have bad news for you.. there are too many little things to narrow down left.

man, it will be laughable if this will make it to the final release.
