I've just finally talked myself into ordering the 32GB Apple TV almost purely for use with Plex so i'm very pleased to see this thread!

As it turns out, the shows we were having issues last night with were mp4's. Used iFlicks to convert and made absolutely no difference. Other than a change in the file type, the codec data is identical. Failure to scrub is the same. What settings are you using in iFlicks? I'm at default at the moment and I can't see any choices that are going to make a difference.

Well, I'm glad yours works well. That's my setting as well and my scrubbing and pause are totally unreliable.

Did discover if I eat a patato chip, it renders the touch pad totally unresponsive to scrolling.

Have a 32G AppleTv 4 and a WD MyCloud 2T, i can't install Plex on my NAS so i have to do it on my Mac so Plex can work. This isn't what i hoped, so to me Plex isn't a bless.

I use Nastily Player, the coding will be done on the Apple TV, works great for me.

Is there a possibility to change the audio / subtitles during playback, like in netflix? I always have to stop playback, go to 'settings' and then start playback again.

If the format of the file is h264 MP4/m4v it will do that along with scrubbing

If the file is mkv or avi it won't

Run your mkv files thru iflicks or subler to make them m4v

or use MP4Tools!

I've been having a lot of "Resource Errors" had to go back to my xbox one! I might even jump ship to Infuse4 when it gets release!

I used to use iTunes for my ripped movies, but when my library got too big iTunes couldn't keep up. So I moved to Plex, and ever since, I have been on a quest for the ultimate Plex device. I have bought the Roku, the Fire TV, and most iterations of the whatever Google is doing. None have come close to the Apple TV. Kudos to Plex on the App. The Roku app has improved greatly, but the Apple TV app was solid on day one. I had previously used an old MacBook running the Plex app connected to my TV because it was the only reliable app.

I agree, Plex has been the killer app for this new Apple TV, and worth it even on it's own.

Could you name the benefits of using plex compared to Infuse 4? It is not there yet so it may be a strange question, but it should be within a week:

I never understood why I should need a whole server for plex, I only need to stream to my tv, not other devices. And Infuse reads off of any simple network drive. But I'd like to know what I am missing out on, and why plex still seems so popular when much more lightweight solutions are here..

What makes Plex so much better than the Computers app? I seriously want to know because I have a gigantic iTunes video library.

It's faster and much friendlier to navigate.

Not convinced on the 'easier to navigate' part. If you like their scheme, sure. But I have my movies grouped how I like by genre, but there's no way to move the list by genre option to the main menu across the top. It's a couple clicks away. It would be nice to have some customization options for that top-level menu.

But you do. If you have them in separate folders by genre (which it sounds like you do), just make each folder a separate Library.

does plex server automatically index added movies? this is my only hold back. las time i used it i had to update library manually, it couldn't tell when a folder changed.

but does it really work? i remember the option being there before, but i would add a tv show and nothing would happen.
It works perfectly for me and i add new movies and tv shows very regular to different folders. It just takes a few seconds.

I got into Plex because of AppleTV (being longtime XBMC/Kodi user). Love Plex now.

But I actually prefer my Xbox One as a Plex client. I can skip ahead/back, jump alphabetically with the remote and I think it looks nicer and is faster navigating. Hope they fix some of the issues in AppleTV version to make it more useable - I do use AppleTV for bedroom Plex though.

same here! I am sure Plex will get a update! Kodi is coming back on xbox one!

Plex loading all the time is annoying
Makes the app feel slow

Every other screen you go to it stops you to load

You come out of a movie or show and it stops you to load
