Just placed an order in the UK with a shipping slot of 30/10 - 03/11. Hoping for a Friday delivery.
I had the same feeling the entire day as well. It's not like it is an iPhone-like hype, but considering it is an Apple product and the stock levels are a massive unknown, I am relieved none-the-less. Although, truth be told, it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't get it straight away.
I think some are paying the extra $17 in shipping to get it a few days earlier. Funny thing is, you pay the extra and the estimated delivery is Oct 30 - Nov 3, so you might just get it one day earlier for $17 extra
So are all here thinking that Standard Shipping (US) will still delivers these by launch day (Oct 30th) as Apple did in the past or that we MUST pay to upgrade shipping for launch day shipment ? Seems strange that standard shipping is showing beyond launch day even for orders placed immediately when it was available. I know in the past Apple has pushed them out quicker and even refunded those that paid for upgraded shipping to ensure launch day delivery but not sure whats going on with this one.
Just trying to decide to let the free shipping stand and hope it turns up on launch day or re-order with NDA by noon

Apple is really good about issuing shipping refunds if everyone ends up getting it 10/30.
Seriously, I wouldnt pay for the extra shipping, just return the one you ordered through the website and pick one up in the store if they are available friday in the store. $17 is crazy to get it 1 or 2 days earlier.
Ordered the 64gb around 8:30am, forget to check the shipping options so I am just now finishing up chatting with apple support and getting the shipping upgraded ($12).

Kurri, I agree on the shipping price and as mentioned in the past (may have been with earlier iPhones) this happened before and Apple made sure all early orders were out for launch day and shipping charges (for those that paid to upgrade) were refunded. That however was an iPhone with a higher sticker price of course so just was not sure what the consensus was this time, especially as Nov 2-4 was the default from minute one on Free Shipping. Thanks

Indeed. Plus, I am just looking forward to Plex's native app so hopefully that comes out within the first few weeks, Really hate having to stream Plex to the TV. Very clunky interface through DLVA (or something similar to that acronym)
What a moron at the Apple store. Call them up complaining about the lack of a pickup option and the guy insisted it was not available yet... despite their website says so.
Fingers crossed I can convince UPS to deliver it at a pickup point via First-Choice.
