i assume the lighting cable is for transferring data from your apple account to your ATV and for future updates possible?

only reason I ask is that I cant remember it being mentioned anywhere.

It doesn't have to be listed, if it's MFI certified, it will work.

That aside, I wouldn't recommend the smaller controllers such as the first one mentioned, they are very cramped. Especially if you have big man hands.

True. But the smaller one was built targeting iPad and iPhone users, so portability is a factor.

Ordered 64 gig and Steelseries Nimbus (separately so they don't need to do any of that 'combine in transit' rubbish and delay my order)

Was tempted by 32 but went for 64 as i'd rather have too much space than work out i don't have enough later.

Yes. No need for a "special" Apple cable.

I have a few iTunes accounts in different countries. Will I be able to switch between them like on the 3rd Gen?

I think some are paying the extra $17 in shipping to get it a few days earlier. Funny thing is, you pay the extra and the estimated delivery is Oct 30 - Nov 3, so you might just get it one day earlier for $17 extra

Dates are already slipping... it originally said oct 30th delivery.

Where are people seeing any reference to movies and photos using storage? Everything I have read says movies and photos will not use local storage.

Yes, movies and photos are stored in iCloud. Even during movie playback don't think parts of the stream are downloaded in flash memory, if there's any caching it will be in RAM... unless Apple is reservering a part of the flash storage for this kind of purpose ?

I've seen the Steelseries controller in the Apple store, not convinced yet. Think it's too small for my liking.

You might be lucky. I ordered the new mouse etc. 2 weeks ago and it shipped the next day, while the estimate said delivery within 3-4 days.
