10x more annoying when you paid expedited shipping. I shouldn't even be complaining because I did the free shipping.
Got that too when I came in to work this morning. Trying to chat with Apple now to cancel.
Soon as I get into work I'm calling apple to complain. It'll be a major bitchfest. What's the point of ordering early when the preorders start if people that ordered hours after you get theirs first and you're left out in the cold.
Same here...stuck on "Preparing for Shipment". I'm here at work, just 5 minutes from an Apple Store. Would love to go at lunch time and pick one up. Still have a few hours to decide.
FYI, if you feel you should be reimbursed for shipping for any reason, make sure you call Apple. The online chat told me they are not able to do refunds of that type, but that I should call instead. When I called, I spoke with a nice lady who offered the refund immediately when I explained the situation.
My guess is, they didn't really know supply/demand as it's the first actual update in three years. I'm sure they've been cranking out these units in production and supply has increased over what they thought initially. It's pretty annoying, I agree, but the production details have been pretty scarce on this product anyways, so I'm not surprised.
Still in preparing for shipment. Ordered 10:30AM with expedited. I am really annoyed with how this all went down. If you have it in stores, make that an option for pickup. If it's expedited, ship it before the free shipping items go out. Seems simple enough. Ordered for in store pickup for today. The rep wouldn't cancel my order so I guess I'll return once it gets here.
after 2 failed attempts at ordering both Monday and Tuesday (paypal issues) I was able to get it to go through on Wednesday and went on PFS status almost inmediately. Those 2 days caused my estimated shipping to drop from Nov. 2-4 to Nov. 4-6 (free shipping). Got a shipped email yesterday afternoon from Apple and delivery date is monday (to Miami) so turned out pretty good.
Seems to be random and perhaps those stuck on PFS status may want to contact apple as its very weird.

Ive fallen into the Apple rope a dope hype machine once again and preordered assuming the stores would take a week to get stock and I would get the ATV early. UPS delivery on Monday & Apple Store and Best Buy with stock today.

I'm not sure where you are located but in the east coast(tristate area) the rep on the phone they made it sound that a lot of the PFSs are ready in the warehouse and are waiting to be picked up by the carrier. Meaning that today delivery seems unlikely.
But since you got expedited shipping hopefully you'll get it sooner rather than later
For those who paid for expedited shipping and want to be reimbursed just call Apple. I called them yesterday and complained that mine hasn't shipped yet and they reimbursed my $17 and gave me a $50 discount. It's worth a shot.

Anyone know if the Apple TV 4th gen is available in the Canadian Apple retail stores today (Friday?)
I ordered the 32gb ATV around 9:10am EST on Monday and did not pay for expedited shipping. I received the email yesterday that it had shipped, and now it's out for delivery. I feel bad for those that are still stuck in PFS or that paid extra for shipping… that sucks. Sorry guys.

Had a chat with apple support but they say I can't cancel at this point, etc. so I'll just bring the box to the store when it arrives.
Something has definitely gone wrong with the East Coast preorder shipments. But at the same time it's paradoxical that the stock arrived on time at the stores. Anyway, as someone said before, no more preorders for anything that is no iPhone, iPad or Mac.

Don't feel too bad. I opted for the free shipping as well (ordered Monday, 10/26) and it's not coming till next week. Then later discovered that stores are getting them in stock to sell today. So, I went online to see that all of the Apple Stores have the ATV available today except the one closest to me (Beavercreek, Ohio). Go figure . . . sad about not getting mine today but glad I didn't cancel my "pre order". BTW, the option listed for the Apple Store nearest to me was "ship to store". Not all that different then getting it shipped to my home, eh?
