All of these services REALLY want me to go back to old school cable don’t they. This is getting ridiculous.
Old school cable is now entirely 4+ hr blocks of the same show broken up by drug company and insurance ads.

The only upside is the “free” on demand content which has lots of movies and seasons of shows depending on what channels are in your package.

From the get-go, these companies plan for this stuff. If you saw internal docs, or was a fly on the wall when these pricing plans was decided, you'd see this. They literally go, okay... we'll low-ball the price until we get to a certain sub level, then slowly inch it up. That's the reality of the situation. It's all contrived from the start.

What is the justification for these price increases?

What groundbreaking new shows did Apple add to TV+ to justify the 30% price increase?
What exciting new games did Apple add to arcade to justify the 30% price increase?
What innovative new features did Apple add to News+ to justify the 25% price increase?

The upside is having everything right there with one remote, curated for you. No having to switch apps, no having to remember a billion log-ins. Just sit down, point remote, and watch something. It's just easier.

Just like cable first year bundles and discounts. It’s just there, they have to disclose that it will go up.

I've got money because I don't spend it on unnecessary crap, such as 90% of services offered by Apple and others. I'm pretty anti-subscription, including apps.

I slightly joke as we have a very healthy income, but spend very little on entertainment other than travel.
My favorite type of person. Has the money but doesn't spend it on what they don't deem worthy.

Apple today announced that it is increasing the prices of some of its subscription-based services, including Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and Apple News+, for new and existing subscribers in the U.S. and many other countries around the world.

The price changes in the U.S. are as follows:
  • Apple TV+: $6.99 per month → $9.99 per month
  • Apple Arcade: $4.99 per month → $6.99 per month
  • Apple News+: $9.99 per month → $12.99 per month
For those who subscribe to Apple TV+ on an annual basis, the price has increased from $69 per year to $99 per year accordingly.

Prices for the Apple One bundles that include these services are also increasing as a result:
  • Individual: $16.95 per month → $19.95 per month
  • Family: $22.95 per month → $25.95 per month
  • Premier: $32.95 per month → $37.95 per month
The price increases take effect immediately for new subscribers, and in 30 days from today for existing subscribers, on their next renewal date after that grace period. Apple should send out emails to existing subscribers notifying them about the changes over time, as it did following price increases to some services last year.

In the U.S., these are the first-ever price increases for Apple Arcade and Apple News+ since the services launched in November 2019, while Apple TV+ had its first price increase from $4.99 per month to $6.99 per month in October 2022.

In a statement shared with MacRumors, Apple said it is "focused on delivering the best experiences possible for our customers by consistently adding high-quality entertainment, content, and innovative features to our services."

There are no price increases for Apple Music and Apple Fitness+ today.

Mark me down as canceled Apple One, just kept iCloud+ Also canceled Netflix after their jump recently. Only content I pay for now is FFXIV and YouTube premium straight from google so I don’t get the apple penalty.

I still have Dish. I agree. And dish has a netflix and prime client built it. You can even have their content in your search results.

I love the dish dvr. Best one because it has skip forward 30. And except for some on demand content, you can skip forward over pesky ads.

How are you getting it for $20? Thats awesome!

I got the student discount $19.99 when I was taking some classes during the pandemic. When my sub is in the last month, I cancel and they offer another year at $19.99... its a no brainer.

Well, looks like I'm going back from Premier to Music + iCloud storage lol. Honestly, it was dumb of me to subscribe at $33. It's double dumb at $38 lol.

Apparently the justification is people will pay for it and no one will ask Tim Cook or Eddy Cube about it so they don’t have to justify it.

I'm a lifelong fan of Apple, and probably always will be.

But the ONE THING you can be sure of with Apple is that they'll be greedy. This has been true since day one.

Steve Jobs was fundamentally greedy. Tim Cook is fundamentally greedy.

I pay $32.95 for Apple One Premier, now I’m not even sure why. I only use Apple Music ($16.99/mo for Family) and iCloud ($9.99/mo for Family). I’m not sure it’s worth $11/mo extra to keep Apple One.
I came to the exact same realization back in June and canceled my Apple One and just did Music @ $16.99 and iCloud (2 TB for family @ $9.99). Exact same situation as you. Haven't missed anything.

Apple One Premier is already $42.95 a month in Australia so I’m expecting at least $47.95. Sick of the whole monthly thing though. Wish there was a subscribe yearly option. But things sure are starting to get pricey. I see a benefit from Apple One Premier. But streaming services almost seem to be pricing people away from their services.
